Master 1792 | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Hi there fellow Running Pumpkins! My name is Carla, I am a wogger, and I am ok with that This is my 2nd season of tri~ing. I did 3 sprints last year and only have one scheduled for this year...this weekend! I'm 32, I've been married for 7 years and have a 5 year old. We reside in the great stat of Arkansas (no Clinton Jokes please). My main goal for tris was to lose weight, but not much of that has happened. Just started suffering from PF these last few months, so my wogging has slowed a bit. With ice and stretching, I can typically get a wog in every other day. I'm planning on completing the Little Rock marathon in March 2010, the Tour de Rock century in June 2010, the Big Dam Bridge 100k ride in Sept. 2010 and Tri the Lake in Oct. 2010. That should just about leave me broke...this is an expensive hobby! Good luck to everyone in our challenge. Now, I'm off to set my goal on the spreadsheet |

Extreme Veteran 322 Reston, VA | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Just entered my challenge goal on the spreadsheet: 28 miles for the month. Sub-goal: Run 3x/week) Best-case scenario goal: Complete every scheduled run (total around 31.1) It's no 140-mile month, but you have to start where you are, right? |

All goals are great...we are all striving to work hard, keep consistent and enjoy running. We all started out in various places but need to be careful always to build gradually with running as it is easy to get injuries when going to far or to fast before our bodies adapt. |

Off to enter it in the spreadsheet. Great goal...can't wait to follow your progress! yeah.... I just hope I don't blow up! This will be my biggest running volume month ever! I think I should be okay, though. I've been building run volume gradually over the summer and have been running 25 - 30 mpw for a while now. I won't be doing much swimming or biking this month either, so that should help, too. |

Extreme Veteran 608 Iceland | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Hi all, I am supposed to be on your team but I think I need to be reasonable and back out of the challenge before it has even started. I love to challenge myself and I am afraid I will overdo it with my current piriformis/back injury. I need to get that in order first (doctors appointment on Oct 12th) before I can seriously start thinking about running again. I will probably run shorter distances the whole months but don't want to push if I feel like I should rather rest. On top of this I will only be home about 13 days this month and the rest on vacation and flying.... I hope you understand and wish you all good luck Go Running Pumpkins! |

But you gotta do what you gotta do. On the other hand, you could just have a very modest goal and stick around for the fun. We are going to have fun, aren't we? |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Team 2 Halloween Run Challenge KathyG - 2009-09-27 9:03 PM I've been working on my goal for October. Since I took 4 weeks off running I need to build gradually. What I think I will do is 30 sessions of running or walking for total of 30 hours. I'm changing this to 23 days. I have 5 or 6 cyclocross races in October and those are tough races so walks or runs those days won't happen. |

Expert 1076 Las Vegas, NV | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Not challenge related, but saw in my yearly totals for swim today:Swim:76h 44m 43s - 227227.9 Yd. A switched from a 25m to 25yard pool during the summer so the numbers aren't a typical even set, but just a funny occurrence to get the repeating sequence. |

Extreme Veteran 322 Reston, VA | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Joblin - we'll miss you! Good luck with your recovery... I'll be doing a short run tomorrow to start off the month as part of my taper even though it's not included in my total planned miles for the month. I think I have 31 miles on the calendar for October and my challenge goal is 28, so I didn't give myself a lot of wiggle room. It can't hurt to start the month with an extra mile or two! Who else is running Oct. 1st? |

Expert 843 Gilbert | Subject: RE: Running Pumpkins - Halloween Run Challenge Hey gang! I'm getting ready to log my goal. My real goal for October is 74 miles. I am gearing up for a marathon in January so I 4 runs a week on the calendar with one being a long run. I've got the flu though so I think I"m going to take a few miles off while I try to shake it. I think I will put 64 to be on the safe side. This is going to be a rough challenge! YIKES! |
