evillarroel - 2010-01-17 7:32 AM With the event 13 weeks away, how's everybody putting in the long rides? Weather hasn't been friendly here in Dallas lately. Does anybody have ideas to make a trainer enjoyable for three hours?, I feel like a squirrel on that thing.

It was my first tri and I enjoyed it. I was in the earlier waves and they still had water when I went through the stations. Some friends of mine weren't so lucky and won't be competing this year. They said they wanted to make sure the bugs got worked out before they did it again.

I work in downtown New Orleans. Before I worked down town full time I used to come for business occasionally. When I did I stayed at the Drury inn.  The rooms are very nice. It's about 2 blocks from Bourbon street and they have a small parking lot for your car on site.  Since it's a newer hotel it usually isn't booked up and last time I stayed the rooms were about 110 a night. This hotel is still within walking distance to the riverside hilton for packet pickup. (less than a mile I think, I have walked near it for lunch) It's about a 12 minute walk from the finish area too I think. I parked in a parking garage across the street from the Drury when I did it last year.

dss30 - 2010-01-27 9:10 PM Yes, this news is very disappointing. The LBS handling the out of town bikes is charging $175 to unbox, put together, then rebox the bikes. Shipping is not included. Im not sure, but I believe you have to pick up the bike at the shop. I guess Ill fly with mine.

Now you've got be worried LazyMarathoner.  I have been back and forth about how to get my bike down there (tribike transport was never an option due to it being no where near me! but that would have been my preference if it was).
I have booked with the "official" people but I am renting a bike case from my local bike shop.  If I don't get my bike back for 3 weeks that will be very expensive for me, not to mention the IM training I should be doing.
My alternative was to fly with it but I am flying delta and they want $175 each way! plus I'm worried about it being thrown around

rach_1623 - 2010-01-30 10:23 PM This may be a silly question, but I don't see it mentioned anywhere on the site.  Will there be places for athletes to shower and change after the race?  Or should I book my hotel stay through Sun night?  I'd like to save the extra cash, but I will for sure need a shower before I get in my car and travel 5 hours back to Birmingham.
