I think I am up for a 5K maybe a 10K. Whichever one I can win for sure THAT is the one I am doing. However, IF anyone is up for a how many pullups, pushups, hand stand pushups in so many minutes I am up for that as well.

LeahDD - 2010-07-03 10:56 AM Who is up for a virtual 5K (or whatever distance) tomorrow?  We do this on holidays.  The usual drill is that you pick a distance that you want to race, do it,  and then post your age group and results here.  Most people win their age groups in this "race" and how often does that happen to you?  It doesn't have to be running, but it usually is.

I'm up for a 5K.

I am in for 5k tommorow. Was supposed to do a brick today, got the bike in and th 94 degree sunshine killed my run. Had to shut it down.

Oh sure.  You can do your holiday race today, tomorrow or Monday.  Just post your results by Monday night so that we can confirm that once again I will win in the W 50-54.  Or do I have to be the age that USAT thinks I am, which is 55?  Nah.  For a running race I have a few more months of truly and actually 54

What??  I thought your birthday was March and mine is November and you are eight months older.  But I am 54 now and will be 55 in November.  Are you telling me that I have had it wrong all this time and I am actually four months OLDER??  Oh no.  Tell me it isn't true.

Ok did my 5k after a short ride this morning.

AG- 25-29
34:46

Yeah so I rode in the rain this morning and then decided I would run with no socks since mine were wet yeah that was a bad idea. It was still raining when I ran and I got 3 blisters on the inside of my foot next time I will just bring extra socks or wear the wet ones.

damn, i completely missed the 5k, and i just started sipping a margarita, so it's not going to happen now... but i did do a 16 mile bike ride today (not fast, but very enjoyable) and a brief (if rather cold) dip in the ocean.

but, seriously... the holidays are hard on my eating habits (see above...), i guess i can just chalk up the french fries and the ice cream cones to the holiday weekend and get back to my fresh fruit and vegetables tomorrow. i'm just hoping that wednesday's weigh-in isn't a monutmental BLAH.

happy 4th everyone!

I'm doing my 5K tomorrow morning (was down the shore all day), you have until tomorrow night to report your time so just get running when you can.

Absolutely.  Get your race in tomorrow.  We don't accept "oops I completely missed it."

10K  W 50-54  1:14:27  - yeah, slower than Saling, but I just remembered that I have a hilly half marathon coming up and it occurred to me that I ought to get out there and start running some hills.  So, it was a hilly route.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Anyone else using sparkpeople and want to trade sparkpages for further accountability???  I have been doing this with a friend and it has helped with daily accountability.

I was but quit using it because I got lazy.  This post just helped motivate me to get back on and log in my cal.  I'll PM you my info.

I am trying. I normally use Fitday, but just for you I am going into Spark Ville.

OK, should I give you my time first, or my excuses?

5k W/35-39 34:18

OK, now for the excuses....

1) It was already over 80 degrees and humid.
2) My neighborhood is VERY hilly.
3) Hot Naked Running Man (a neighborhood god) was out running and he started chatting with me at around 1.5 miles - I wasn't going to not talk to him despite the fact that it wasted a lot of oxygen.
4) The Cheerios I ate before the run were not sitting well in the heat.
5) I forgot to put my bottle of water at the bottom of my steps for when I ran by and my mouth way so dry during the last mile that my mouth was sticking closed.

I'm sure I can think of more if I tried.

Actually I'm pretty happy about my time, it is much better than the last time I timed myself.

If no other women ages 35-39 run today I may even win.

ok, well i did the 5k today!

31:35
AG 30-34 F

the run itself was horrible! i left the house at least 2 hours too late, it was already hovering around 30C when I left and it got to 32C by the time I was done. i thought i had allowed for the heat by drinking about 4-5 pints of water this morning before setting out to make sure i was well hydrated, but no...

anyway, i'm not too disappointed by my time, but it should've been a lot easier! (or at least, i would usually do a 5k in under 30 mins...)

OW swim this afternoon should help me cool off. Laughing

Ok- ran the 5K yesterday and also made the mistake in thinking it was 3.2 miles. So I ran a little extra too. Didn't realize this mistake until I read the thread. Oh, well.

Age group 30-34
Time: 31.32

I was hoping to break 30 mins, getting close, maybe next time

I chose the century race option yesterday. Not sure how many were in my 30-34 ag but I think I finished either first or dead last.
