Modesto, California | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge maggyruth - 2010-08-29 12:07 PM DebTri - In previous thread someone mentioned the "lean" version vs "classic". Are these just different workouts, or are there different DVDs? Not sure what I ordered. These are just different ways of using the program. They both involve all the same DVDs, so you'll be fine. The lean one has more cardio workouts than the classic does. The info you get with the discs should explain everything for you. Im doing Lean also, it differs by one workout only(Monday) which has you doing Core Synergistics and Upper body for the Classic. The last few months doing the Lean version you will drop the leg workout and add in an upper body workout, there is not a huge difference between the two, I prefer doing the lean becuase I think Core Synergistics is the hardest workout to me. As mentioned be prepared to be sore, try to be dilligent with the diet, write everything down, push yourself every workout, keep scale and bodyfat measurements to once a week(otherwise it will drive you crazy) and let P90x do the rest! Everyone will have thier favorite moves as well as thier demons,Andrea roll,Superman Banana are mine and pretty much the whole Abripper workout! Day 1........ |

Modesto, California | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge LSU25 - 2010-08-29 7:31 AM Ok I've adjusted my schedule and will be doing P90X for the first time...starting today...I'm coming from an Olympic lifting background....I'm doing the lean version...I have always been a critic of the P90X program ( coming from a strength training background) ...but whats the best way to test out a product than to run the 90 day program yourself. I have seen the results and damn...I want some too... I will post pictures tomorrow NAME: Amanda / LSU25 STORY: I was a college strength and conditioning coach after completing my career as a track athlete. I have been doing triathlon for 2 years. I am moving up to the half-iron distance this year. I just had my first son 4 months ago and took the entire time off from training/ working out. FAMILY STATUS: Married, 1 son ( 4 months old and 2 fur babies) CURRENT TRAINING: Base building with a few running races thrown in to keep me on my toes, nothing longer than a 10k till my half mary in December. 2010 RACES/Activities: I've only done two races....I did a sprint Tri in July and won my age group on 2 months of training, and ran 1-5K....I have a few more 5k's and random running races thrown in which will take me through the new year. CURRENT WEIGHT: 164.2 as of this morning. % BODY FAT: No clue...I would estimate mid-20's, I'm going to go up to school tomorrow to get it done GOALS: I want to get down to 150-152lbs and hover around 16-18%...before I got pregnant I was 154 and 17% bf and would love to get back there by the time I start specific training for New Orleans 70.3 in December. Amanda, the best thing to do is jump right in,there will be some stuff that you will think are impossible, its designed that way so stick with it and the ability will come. People dont know what strong abs are until they finish this program. I competed in powerlifting and this is not a typical strength training workout by any means, it will open your eyes to a whole new level of training. Some people will have thier strength go through the roof, others will loose a bunch of weight, everyone is different for each person, but its a 90 day program, thats how you have to aproach it,100% for 90 days. You wont be a skeptic for long! |

Expert 1694 Illinois | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Sorry for the blank post, I must have hit enter. I started the Lean version two days ago --- so far have done Core Synergies, Arms & Back, and the Ab Ripper X. I opted not to do the Cardio workout since I had a long run that day. Definitely need to clean up my diet. Well, here are my stats: NAME: Anne / abaker STORY: 48 y.o. Have done several sprint distance tris in the last 2 years. Next year I will be in the next age group and plan to try my hand at the half distance. FAMILY STATUS: LTR, have a 20 y.o. daughter and three cats CURRENT TRAINING: Mostly running right now with biking thrown in. Have a half marathon in late September. 2010 RACES/Activities: Did a couple of tris earlier in the season, no particular goals or anything, just having fun. Also did a biathlon and a half marathon, a 5K and my favorite race, the Tour de Donut in July. I came in as overall women's winner! CURRENT WEIGHT: 160 as of this morning. This is the heaviest I have ever been (except when pregnant) % BODY FAT: Not sure, I am guessing it's around 24%. I am fairly muscular but getting the middle age spread. GOALS: Weight - get down to 148ish and drop a clothing size. I want to be leaner and stronger for half training in 2011. Edited by abake 2010-08-30 12:30 PM |

Regular 76 Marco Island | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Received my dvd's in the mail today and just finished my first workout "core synergistics". Definitely worked up a good sweat! I couldn't find my yoga mat and doing it on hardwood with a towel didn't provide enough cushion. Next step is to buy a decent mat. I'm following the "lean" workout and tomorrow is cardio. I haven't read through the manuals yet, but I'm assuming it's OK to go out and do run or some other cardio workout rather than doing the dvd. |

Veteran 221 | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Hi All: I did a round of P90X this past winter (started in Feb) and LOVED it. I dropped ~15 lbs and gained a ton of muscle definition. I am marathon training right now, but when that's over I'm planning to jump back into P90X at least for 6-8 weeks depending on what's next on the training schedule (haven't decided on a spring marathon yet). So, for now, I'll just watch you guys and jump in after my race (10/3). One thing I did get from my first round of P90X was a wider range of stretches and things to incorporate into my marathon training. I have even done some of the lifting routines to supplement my running during early marathon training. Name: Courtney/tribeagle Story: I did my first tri in 2007, but have been a runner for as long as I can remember. I also swam in high school. I've done a bunch of sprints and two Olys and am considering a HIM for 2011 (to celebrate turning 40). I was going to do the Pittsburgh Marathon in 2009, but got about 2/3 of the way through training before ending up with a stress fracture. That wiped out a lot of 2009 - I did manage two Sprints, but they were more of a swim, bike, hobble. Doing P90X this winter was part of my plan to go into this new round of marathon training stronger (and lighter!). Family Status: Married, no kids, 2 dogs Current Training: Training for Twin Cities Marathon (10/3) - running 6 days/week; just did my first 20 miler this past weekend! 2010 Races/Activities: 2 sprints, 1 duathlon, 1 bike tour (114 miles!), a bunch of running races (5K to HM) with the marathon still to come Current Wt: ~122lbs; not sure on body fat% as I haven't checked it since I ended P90X back in the spring. I did drop 4% over the course of the 90 days. Goals: Sub 4 hour marathon at Twin Cities; Use P90X as a bridge to next training plan; Oh and be able to do a real (unassisted) pull-up Courtney |

Expert 1694 Illinois | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Well, I made it through about 40 minutes of the Yoga X. I have taken yoga classes but nothing like this. There is a part where you go into a "sideways chair" or something like that, and then kind of pretzel your arms around (can't explain it, you have to experience it), and that was when I decided I had had all I could take. Whew! |

Modesto, California | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Day one was good, not as bad as I thought it was going to be although my flexibility has gotten bad. One hour trainer ride tonight with some tempo and power intervals. If anyone ever gets bored with Tony or feels hes just irritating the DVD gives you the option to turn him off, or turn the music off, I do it all the time and turn up my own music. I know its new to some but its good to know later on. Everyone appears to be doing great, stick with it! I have a strange feeling this challenge may around for a long time! Regular 76 Marco Island | Subject: RE: P90X 2010 Fall Challenge Well, certainly felt my glutes on my run this morning after doing the core synergy yesterday. Just finished ab ripper. Had some problems completing some of the first few exercises. Lower back really hurt in a lot of those positions. My flexibility is about a zero... hope the stretching exercises help. Keep up the good work everyone! |
