Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey everyone! What are your plans for the weekend? I'm looking at a 10 min run/walk, and hopefully a long ride. Maybe a swim? And LOTS of foam rolling and stretching! |
|
![]() ![]() |
Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm thinking a bike ride tomorrow morning and a 5k race on Sunday to see just how out of shape I really am :D |
![]() ![]() |
Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm probably biking around 10 miles tomorrow and doing a swim, then Sunday is good ole long run day.. and of course lots of stretching |
![]() ![]() |
Regular ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'll be waiting for them to unlock the door to the pool bright and early tomorrow. Then maybe a long bike ride in the afternoon if the weather cooperates. I'd like to squeeze in another bike ride on Sunday afternoon if I can do it without upsetting my wife too much.
Have a nice Easter weekend, everyone!

Definitely looking forward to a outdoor bike ride sometime over the weekend - even just an hour. Also SHOULD swim tomorrow. Probably no run unless I do a mile or two after the bike ride just to start getting my legs use to it On Sunday after Church we are going Easter Brunch will will probably negate all the meal planning this week |

Happy Easter to you too! Can you do the bike really early on Sunday? I find that the best way to not upset anyone else in the household |

Normally I could, but there's not telling how early the kids are going to be up to hunt for their Easter baskets. |

![]() | ![]() Hi Elaine, I will be sure to log my workouts. I am traveling right now with a crazy schedule and back tomorrow and will have a more regular schedule then. It looks like a great group, thanks for your efforts.

Ah yes, I remember those days! Now, with one teenager and one almost teenager, I can pretty much count on alone time for a few hours on the weekend! |

New user ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Happy Easter! I got out the door for a 5 mile run before the kiddos got up today. Good thing because we went to the most fabulous buffet brunch after church and I sure didn't measure my food (although I tired to really modify portion sizes - tiny bites of everything!) Back to weighing and measuring tomorrow. All in all a good training weekend although I didn't get the outdoor bike ride in. Hopefully next week! Hope everyone has a great day! |

![]() | ![]() Great news on the pain-free run, Elaine! And Melanie...a half-iron distance! Wow! I received an email about Miami Man and it sounded like a really nice race. Maybe next year... My goal of the week is to get some quality biking time in. I have already proved to myself that I can do the swim portion of my Oly race, now I want the confidence that I will be OK for 25+ hilly miles. And the run, well, that will just be whatever will be. I can't do a whole lot about that. Hopefully the weather cooperates; thunderstorms are on the menu every day until Friday. |

New user![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() melbel1038 - 2011-04-25 1:00 PM Hi All. Happy Monday. My one goal for this week is to get back on my regularly scheduled program tomorrow LOL. I am still coughing and there is a slight wheez but I've been on antibiotics since Wed. Tomorrow is a week of no training. I'm gonna attempt my normal Tuesday night group ride and see how it goes. I know I'm in better shape THIS week than I was last week so... Also, it is official. I just registered for Miami Man (HIM) 11/13. I don't know what is crazier, that I am registered for a HIM or that I paid $260 for a HIM....both pretty crazy concepts! At any rate, no turning back now How was everyone's Easter?
Awesome! What a motivator and yes, the price is killer isn't it? So excited to follow your journey |

![]() | ![]() etakla - 2011-04-25 7:44 PM Outdoor bike ride - fingers crossed for one or two rain free days! I hear ya! I'm beginning to wonder if I actually live in Seattle, WA not the Susquehanna Valley area of PA! I hope Iowa weather allows you to get outside and have some fun. The rain actually stopped while I was at work today and things dried off enough for me to grab a quick ride this evening after work. It was WONDERFUL! Hoping to get at least 1 but preferably more good OUTDOOR rides in this week/weekend. Plus if I ride outdoors I don't have to worry about correcting my indoor Garmin issues! |

Member![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am traveling this week in Greensboro, NC. So my biggest goal is not over eating during the trip. I am glad it is only a three day trip. Then back to PA for my training. I have a 5K race on Saturday. |

Isn't it exciting/scary/exhilarating/terrifying to click the enter button?
My main goal this week is to give the finger to the weather man and get my workouts in anyway. I am so ready to move to Arizona or Florida or somewhere nice. I think we've had four days of sunshine this month. I guess I should just plan on riding the trainer instead of hoping to get outside. Tonight, I sat on the pool deck for almost an hour before it stopped thundering enough for them to open the pool, so my long swim turned into a short swim. |

Veteran![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I am glad to hear you are pain free again. I hope that everyone keeps working on their goal. My goal this week is to get my butt out of bed and get to the gym on time. I have been late every day since my last race. I am also starting my 24 week plan to my HIM. I have to get back on the bus. had a great Easter, and we are still finding and hiding eggs with the kids. |

Pro![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Melanie (melbel) - yup! Increasing a bit, and still going to Physical Therapy to learn how to correct it, and prevent it from happening again. Congrats on signing up!! Did you get back to regularly scheduled workouts? Melanie (melbo) - Hope that weather clears up for you! If you're hitting race mileage now, you'll be more than ready for that Oly in June! Ken - hope you're not getting too much fast food! It's hard to eat well on the road, but very possible. There is are lots of helpful tips in the "Nutrition" section here. Dave - have you gotten up on time yet this week? Tom - how has the weatherman liked that friendly gesture? |

As for being sick and missing a week, sorry. The quick changes in weather over the weekend put me under and I was wondering what people do during a sick time. I received medicine yesterday and even though I feel awful I still want to train just a little, but I've heard to back off some. Do y'all train or just rest during a sick time? |

The general rule of thumb is that if your symptoms are from the neck up, then it's OK to train. Me? When I'm congested, even in my chest, swimming helps me clear it up. It varies per individual, but I generally just reduce intensity (and sometimes volume!) if I'm feeling under the weather. If it makes me feel worse, I'll take some time off. If my workout helps me feel a bit better, I'll continue with reduced intensity/volume until I feel better. |

New user![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Ken - good luck on the eating on the road! I pretty much dread business lunches b/c the temptation is too great. I know there healthy choices but sometimes the burger and fries sounds better! I always try to remember how much I have to swim/bike/run to get rid of something overly indulgent and that (sometimes) helps! For me weight was crazy this week. I weighed 136.6 on Saturday morning and like 142.6 on Monday morning. Six pounds people! Darn buffet brunch! Today was down to 140 and hopefully will be back under 140 tomorrow. I can hold water like no one's business! Yesterday I did a 5 miler with one of my training partners and finally had a (mostly) rest day today. Did a 30 minute very brisk walk (probably 4.5 mph) over lunch. Got another 5 miles in the morning. Have to admit it was nice to sleep a bit today! I still have to fit in a swim and bike sometime this week. Probably will try to swim Thursday and maybe bike Saturday. Hope everyone has a great week! |

I've heard the same about the above the neck/below the neck. The one exception for me though is if it is one of those sinus things where it feels like my whole face is congested. With all that pressure I just have to relax. Backing off on intensity can help a lot though - sometimes just not getting to that breathless stage makes all the difference. Feel better soon! |
