Well, my immune system has finally given out on me at the worst possible time and I am at home sick halfway through my first box of tissues and only 3 hours into the day... Terrible terrible timing for my fight on saturday but I figure its just 3 x 2 min rounds so I really hope I can kick this by then and last it out! Added to that its impacting on the last 10 days of training for the 24h tri next weekend but I figure I can call it a taper.... Anyway, enough of my pity party. Its a beautiful day here on the GC so I think I should get myself out and about for a walk at least in the sun. Hope everyone is having a great day/evening! |

Extreme Veteran 668 Melbourne | Subject: RE: August East-West Run/Jog/Wog/Walk Challenge! Morning all, Very excited here this morning, as well as getting some training in this morning, listening to the radio on the way to work this morning find out they are announcing a new Ironman in my own City (Asia Pacific Championships - Melbourne March 2012). And to make it even better, it's being run right near my house (5kms to the start and transition area, run and bike legs go 300 metres either side of my house). Really hoping I can do this one (3000 entries it appears, so hopefully won't sell out too quick), behave you achilles!! Bike course is going to be awesome (shutting down a whole freeway for it). |

I have worked 26 of the past 36 hours and had a cumulative of 9 hours of sleep in the last 3 days. Body is saying go to bed instead of run. Will make it up tomorrow. Blah. Hoping this project ends by Friday so I can have some fun.

Poor piglet! {{{MELON PRESS}}} you know the drill better than I do (and are definitely wiser than I am in actually doing it ...) rest. Heal. Do the best you can. FWIW fighting through illness, simply because it was very short (if very intense, but still ... it's not like sprinting), oh and by that i mean actually FIGHTING as in the sport, never did me in too much while endurance sports have. I think you'll be fine. Last 10 days of training for tri = taper, you have it exactly right. There isn't any more training you can do for that. Have fun fighting, be the monster you are, rest and take it easy next week, short stuff, maybe a teeny bit of hard stuff (like in a normal taper) but nothing major. You'll have a great time at the 24 hours!!!! |
