I have an appointment at the pain clinic this afternoon. I'll be grumpy tonight and tomorrow, but after that I should be mostly pain free. I waited entirely too long to make the appointment. I won't do that again. Ann, what kind of treatment do you get that helps so much? They inject steroids into the nerve that is pinched by the stenosis in my spine. Right now I have a burning sensation that goes down the back of my leg, the whole way to my foot. There have been a few days recently that I haven't been able to lift my leg in the morning to put my sock and shoe on, my leg hurt that bad. Eventually I will need to get a procedure done that will just deaden the nerve. I don't want to do that unless absolutely necessary. Wow! I am glad it helps. When they deaden the nerve, how much function will you lose or is there enough redundancy? |

My friend and I enjoyed the bridge race so much that we have picked out a 10K in May. In that one we get to go across the top of the Grand Coulee Dam in eastern Washington. Should be really great views! That sounds fun, Dee! 10 K is a great length race, too. Yeah, I like it. So, are you going to come out and do the event with me? |

I would in a heart beat if plane tickets weren't so expensive! The DH and I had a grand time last time we were in Washington, but didn't get a chance to visit easthen Wa very much. It is on the list of things to do and places to go. |

Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: Happy Ghouliversary! Pick your poison in the month of October Boo! It's 1 am here, and I got home from work a ittle while ago. I'm a little wound up from the last patient we saw tonight, so I thought I'd pop in and say hi. Or boo. Boo! Scared ya, didn't I? Sorry I haven't been around much lately. I have pretty much quit doing any workouts, my shoulder is bothering me (enough to warrant 2 visits tothe sports med doc), and I've been really busy with my son and his medical issues. I just got a voice mail from the occupational therapist, and he gets to start Occupational Therapy (OT) on Monday. Yay! Now if I could just get the school's OT evaluation done, and get the classroom accomodations in place, I'd be a happier momma. And I think he'll be a happier boy, too. Needles to say the increased stress and the decreased stress relief have wreaked a bit of havoc with my tendency toward depression. I am heading to bed now. Cross your fingers for me that I sleep during the night tonight. That way I can be awake during the day tomorrow to come back and visit some more when you all are here too. |

Champion 16743 Somewhere I can be nekidd | Subject: RE: Happy Ghouliversary! Pick your poison in the month of October Good morning Ghoulies! It is time to get lean and fit again. My doc at the pain clinic and I talked a bit yesterday. She is a runner and a cyclist, too. Along with the pain that shoots the whole way down the back of my leg, and the constant pain I have in my lower spine, and the pain and burning I have in my neck, I have been having hip problems as well on my right side, that's the side where I have the nerve problem. She had me walk across the floor. Then she poked me in the hip and I almost jumped out the door. She told me she wasn't surprised I had pain there with as lopsided as I walked. I could tell I was walking weird, but she confirmed it. I am going to have to go back for several treatments for the first 3 problems. For the hip pain, and it will help my back as well, I need to lose the weight, and get strong. I mean really strong. Work the hamstrings, quads, adductors, abductors, glutes, core, all of it. I think that was just the motivation I needed to get my azz in gear again. I don't have a workout to log for yesterday, that will be my only day this month. After I got the injections my right leg was numb the rest of the night, and my back, where I got the injections was very sore and I couldn't stand up straight last night. Onward and upward. |

Good for you on getting workouts in. Sounds like Ann will be doing some weight training! Glad you have a good doc you can talk to. I hope the injections work for you. Constant pain is so draining! (and it hurts, too!!). One step in front of the other! |

I think we each need to scour a minimum of 3 bars today in search of a Fat Frog. If anyone is successful they need to send up the MARGARITA flare, to alert the rest of the Ghoulies.

Pro 4482 NJ | Subject: RE: Happy Ghouliversary! Pick your poison in the month of October Hi Ghouligans! Sorry I've been AWOL. Life has been a bit unsettled lately. Some good friends battling life threatening illnesses have been at the forefront of my attention. I also had a rough week professionally. We laid off a number of really good people and I'm pretty depressed about the whole thing. And to be a total Debbie Downer, I am going to defer NYC. Hip just is not cooperating. Although I must say that is fairly minor in the greater scheme of things. Traveling next week but hope to get back in a normal routine soon. Miss you guys. |
