Elite ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I totally agree with Welshy (I cant believe those words just came out of my mouth), let the guy know what is up on the front end and he will be fine. If he is worth it and thinks you are worth it he will wait till you are ready and if he doesnt then he wasnt worth your time and you know his true intentions on the front end. Just go out and have a good time, dont think so much about it. Tell him he will be good, then get to enjoying the date. Damn what good advice, where did that come from???? Oh and I think every thread should be about the Wahoo... |

Welshy I'm suprised, very suprised....not going to say why...but I am. ChuckyFinster - 2005-11-28 7:19 PM tmwelshy - 2005-11-28 3:16 PM If I like someone I've been on a date with and want another date, AND I am in the mood to, I would kiss on the cheek - If I were rebuffed, I would move on down the road.... I wouldn't even have to like her. If there was a chance of scoring, I'd move in for the kill. Single life. That required too much work.I was trying to put myself in Janell's obviously prudish situation and how I would feel if I were a man dating, or attempting to date, her. On my own level, I would completely fcuk the girl. I'm so glad you're not in his position and I pity any girl who's in a prudish situation with you. My Wahoo would break down her walls, never fear... ...and it could certainly be said that I pity a person who so obviously feels constrained by society's view for something so simple as kissing someone you like. How about deciding, based upon your own feelings, the man you are interested in and the circumstances, what you think is right and going with that? No need to get nasty, though. Should we call you Dr. chuckle and Mrs. snide? When you make jokes loaded with innuendo on a regular basis, it seems a little far fetched for you to get so upset and nasty when someone makes a joke you find inappropriate. Save your pity and grow up. P.S. Janelle, I was kidding. As long as she was clear with me on her intentions, that she needed to move slow, and assuming she was worth it to me, I would be fine with her going slow - if, however, I tried to initiate something and all I got was a moving away, etc..., without explanation, I would blow her off. Welshy- why do you always have to make these threads all about your wahoo??? Sombady has too... if not me, then who? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() In highschool, I thought dating was too complicated.... too many rules.. Who do you give the notes to? your friend or his friend? Now in college I think the same thing.... communication is key people... depending on the guy, I will kiss on the first date, but you guys are killing me with your rules... I think you should just have fun, and TALK to each other!!! maybe after college things will simplify?? please?? Jamie |

Jamie Doesn't get easier after college. Sometimes doesn't get easier after marriage. (No, I'm not advocating a wife and girlfriend, but I do DATE my wife.) |

I think you should just have fun, and TALK to each other!!! maybe after college things will simplify?? please?? Jamie There are no rules (except Janelle who has her rule about no kissing). Go with what you are moved to do. Your instincts won't fail you and if you don't let your fear of rejection overwhelm you, you will do just fine. People who are terrified of rejection at 18 will be terrified at 28, 38 and 48. People who are risk-takers at 18 will be risk-takers at 28, 38... So, it's not really about high school, college or post-grad dating. It's about being confident in your choices and feeling competent to manage yourself. As you noted, it's all about communicating (verbally and nonverbally). Edited by Renee 2005-11-29 9:32 AM |

Yeah- I'll be the first to admit that I have funky rules- I'm not ashmed to admit it I don't like to call them rules though- they're just my own personal convictions. There's a difference. It's always interesting to see other's opinions or views, which is why I posted this thread in the first place. |

So, you're willing to carry around your gf's toy poodle while you and your gf spend 5 hours in the mall shopping? Priceless. The only thing in this entire thread that hasn't made me shake my head. seriously. If you feel safe, and you are moved to do it, do it. "Rules" are not useful. Boundaries, standards, maybe, but I would quickly grow weary in a relationship where there was a Rules-Keeper. It's all sorta about mutual give and take and coziness and faith, y'know? |

![]() | ![]() I don't mean to hijack the thread but I'll come to a point related to your initial question. When I first saw my life I was attracted in BIG way. I asked her out a few days later. She had a date with another guy I worked with that night (yes, I knew they were dating but I didn't care, she would be mine!) but I convinced her to have a drink before she went home to get ready for her date. After 10 seconds I knew I was in love and I had met my soulmate. After 45 minutes it was obvious she felt the same way. She called the guy, broke the date and we spent 3 hours at that bar talking. Only had 2 drinks which was a record low for me back then.. When I drove her home we were holding hands and I noticed something looked different. I held up my hand and looked at it. When I passed her hand over my hand my hand looked different. She had no idea what I was doing. I explained it to her. She changed me. We made out passionately for who knows how long. 2 weeks later she moved in and a few months later I proposed. 8 years, 3 houses and third kid on the way later and we're still madly in love. Anybody can kiss anybody, but it's not THE KISS until it's THE ONE and if you know yourself, you'll know when it's THE ONE. Any rules you may have will no longer apply. At least that's what I believe. p.s. if you enjoy the single life and playing the field - good for you, I'm not one of those people who thinks marriage is for everyone. Happiness, however, is for everyone. |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Awww... now that's an awesome story. My parents got married after knowning each other for 7 weeks -- 33 years later they're still married. I'm sad to say that I know this, but sources (them) say they did more than just kiss on the first date. Go with your gut. |

A Freedom kiss Well, it's all about communication and norms. You'll be able to tell if he has some doubts about what is going on. I can't vote in this poll because my norms are way, way different from yours. When I was single, expectations for the third date involved breakfast - with the notable exception of my wife - which was a slower process. Take from that what you will. |
