Here's the lyrics to the song I suggested.

can you sleep as the sound hits your ears one at a time?
an unspokenbalance here,
unabridged for so many years
that i should stare at receivers to receive her isn't fair
don't worry i'll catch you
don't ever worry
your arms in mine, anytime
i wouldn't trade anything
you're still my everything
to my surprise, before my eyes, you arrive
don't worry I'll catch you
don't ever worry
i'm still breaking old habits, habits when you pulled the wool over me
i can see everything, everything remembering "jinx removing"
don't worry i'll catch you [x2]
don't ever worry
no need for reminding... you're still all that matters to me

At my wedding, I had a bit of everything.

An operatic Ave Maria before the ceremony

I actually walked down the isle to a violin playing Amazing Grace

There was a very joyous irish violin for our exit.

Our first song was in Sarang Tango about dancing through life together

Love Me Like a Man by Bonnie Raitt

Played classical for pre-ceremony seating and walk down the aisle and back up the aisle music, there are a hundred awesome choices.  Pachabel Canon in D was one of them.

Had a vocalist for Nat King Cole's "When I Fall in Love" during the ceremony.

For first dance, I decided to go for humor. My husband and I had lived together for 10 years before we got married, so first dance song was Etta James "At Last".    People CRACKED up, it was a lot of fun.

For last dance had Dido "Best Day of my Life".

I totally LOVED planning my wedding - I did it for a ridiculously low amount of money for the way it turned out - and people still talk about it and it was 3 years ago.  Definitely one of the top three days of my life.  Most awesome compliment I got was my 19 year old stepson saying...."I didn't know weddings could be so much fun".

Can I give my wedding planner mom your number?

NO!  Mom's are the WORST!  I was just talking to a friend of mine about my wedding the other day (see, three years later) - and I was telling her how the flower people threw in all this extra stuff for free, and went above and beyond what I had paid for because they said they loved me because I was the happiest, least stressed out bride they had ever seen! They had a blast telling me all these horror stories of FREAKED out Bridezilla's and Momzilla's as they call them

I tell people I want to start a wedding planning service for brides who just want to get married, but don't want to plan it.  All you have to do is pick out your wedding dress, then I'll plan everything around the style you reveal in that choice, and just tell you when and where to show up.  And I guarantee an awesome wedding within the tightest budget constraints.  I swear I'm going to do this someday.

Hey June 24th is my and my wifes anniversary also. We danced to "To Make You Feel My Love" by Garth Brooks (not too bad country) and the last dance at our reception was "Let's Get It On" by Marvin Gaye (my mother-in-law was horrified). "Jesu, Joy of a Man's Desiring" is a good prelude piece. Have fun!

we had flutes and vocalists, and then we were piped out. it was AWESOME! he also piped us in to the reception which had amazing accoustics. i hadn't thought bagpipes would go with the flutes and the outdoor wedding vibe, but it was PERFECT.

LOL! Wellll, 'Let's Get It On' is 'our' song. *ahem* I'd love to have it for a first dance, but I'm not sure how that would go over. I think it'd be great done by a bluegrass band, don't you? I really love 'To Make You Feel my Love'. What a great song...

Seriously, what I've been saying all along is "Why does it have to be so hard and such a big deal? I just want to get married in the woods and have a reception with lots of good food and beer and a rockin' band. Why the hell would I want centerpieces."

My sister says that if the wedding planning were left up to me, I'd be throwing a kegger.

So, tell me, O Sage One, what exactly is it that people remember so well about your wedding?

Yeah, all I wanted was a few close friends and family on a beach somewhere, yet somehow I seem to be having 200 people in a cathedral in DC.  It's gorgeous, but...

Whoa, thank God mine isn't spinning out of control like that! I'm still getting my meadow in the mountains, my bluegrass (or maybe mariachi) band at the reception, my beer and my BBQ. There'll just be centerpieces there, too. And I think things might match. Weird.

I'm sure your wedding will be just beautiful, though. I know people complain about them a lot, but I love church weddings. Especially Catholic ones (not sure if yours is or not).

Edit: the attached photos are my wedding site in two different directions.

That is absolutely gorgeous. Wow!  I want to go to Montana now!  Oh, and a bluegrass band and bbq?  You guys are going to have so much fun!

My wedding is Catholic, but with no mass.  Since my fiance's parents are still a little upset that I am not Catholic (or anything for that matter) I figured I needed to give in and let them have their church wedding.  And then it began spiraling...

It is going to be beautiful and I am excited, it will just be VERY far from my vision.

Actually that's near my hometown in western Colorado! Montana's way, way uglier.

Ah, one little compromise and down she goes... LOL! I had kinda wanted a Catholic wedding, but Eric and I aren't going to be raising any kids exclusively Catholic. So, we're having a Methodist minister who used to be Catholic, but he was married and felt called to be a priest, so he switched teams. Close enough, I guess!

So, tell me, O Sage One, what exactly is it that people remember so well about your wedding?

Pretty much what you just described.....it had a kegger feel, but WITH centerpieces.  In other words, it was VERY laid back.  It had a feel of......"Come out to the park and we'll feed you and give you free beer and we'll dance the night away, if you watch a 20 minute show we want to put on for you".  People knew that I did not expect them to play dress up just because I was. I spread the word that it was totally casual (it was August for god sake...wear shorts people) and they appreciate that. It was held in a park lodge, the ceremony was outside and other than eating we all pretty much hung out outside.  The ceremony was personal but SHORT, they loved the fan program things I made to help keep them cool (three other people have copied them since then). The speeches were kept to a minimum (but at one point there was not a dry eye in the place) and we did not do any of that dumb cake feeding, garter tossing, bouquet tossing crap that bores people silly (I'm sorry, but spare me). The cake (which was cheese cake because Jeff and I don't like regular cake) was just desert, it was not "an event".  The comment I have gotten the most was "That was a good party".  And that's exactly what I was going for.

Your location choices are just stunning.  Do it your way......you'll be glad you did and it will be something you'll look back on with such joy for the rest of your life! The fact that Jeff also says "That was a good day, I wish we could do that day over again" makes me very happy.  Make yourself and your husband a good day.....

That's great to read. I think we're very much on the right track. When I get ragged on for wanting a kegger, I just try to explain to my mom that with me pulling for a kegger and her pulling for things to be more 'proper', we'll likely end up right in the middle and it'll be just perfect.
