Good luck and have fun with your HF, Ann-Marie!!

I figured there was some kind of lap counter for swimming! Thanks so much for that bit of info, guys. I'll get check out our sports store for one.

Today was my rest day, but I did get a mile walk in with the little girl. Wanted to run with her in the jogger, but she insisted she could "run" it.

Have a great weekend, guys!

No workout today for me.  A much need rest day both for my legs and for me psyche.  Might go for a 30 min walk on my lunch break just to move my legs around.

looks like we have a good group going!

Thanks for putting up the link to our blogs.

My plan for surviving xmas is simple - run often, swim when I can and try to keep walking past the sweets! I'll be in south Florida for xmas as will be various family members who run and swim, so we should be able to keep each other in line.  The weather usually even allows ocean swims - which I love.

I'm off to my masters' swim - great way to start a wednesday!

Ann-Marie

I will DEFINITELY need for you to share some of that "SWIM" love stuff~ I loved to hang out in the pool as a kid...but I am having some REAL issues getting to the pool and then going back! I only have an outdoor pool that I have been swimming at and the thought of getting in of a warm bed to go to a cold pool makes me just crawl deeper under my covers! haha I went to a masters class last year and thought I was going to die! and I was in the rookies lane! so you see, I need MUCH help here!!!!

I am no fish, but i do like to swim - however slowly that may be.  THe "love" portion of my comment is really that being able to swim in the ocean in December v. swimming in the pool is really neat   If the outdoor pool I swim in for my masters class wasn't heated there is no way I'd get out of bed on a cold morning either.  Props to you if you manage that even once!

its a heated pool...but when it is 40 degrees ~ it still takes me a good many laps before I warm up~ then to get there and be completely humiliated by the other swimmers didnt help ~ haha

Finished a 6 mile run today (56:39), Felt great.  First time in 3 weeks my legs agreed to run at a decent pace!  I increased rate through each mile and if I would not have ran out of time I may have gone another few, probably decreasing the rate though

Mile 1: 12:10 avg bpm 121
Mile 2: 9:39 avg bpm 143
Mile 3: 9:07 avg bpm 151
Mile 4: 8:51 avg bpm 158
Mile 5: 8:53 avg bpm 167
Mile 6: 7:56 avg bpm 173

its always nice when the legs cooperate! ~ NICE RUN~

I have to make sure I get my exercise in the mornings....endorphins may be the only thing keeping me from killing my coworkers.

So I'll get a run in tonight.  I'm going goose hunting early tomorrow morning but I'll get a swim in.  Plus about a 30-40 mile ride Sunday morning if the weather cooperates.

Weeeee!

Good Luck!  let us all know how ya did!

I knocked out a short swim and a short run this morning.  Roughly 1400 in the pool mostly drills, but I did have my gal record some of it so my Uncle (been a swim coach for decades) can give me a few pointers.  Its amazing what I could tell on my own, cant wait to hear his input too!

Still trying to love running, knocked out a quick 1.5 after my swim... hoping the weather stays decent for my "long" run this weekend... should be around 5mi.

That's a great swim resource you have - i'm jealous!

Do you run with a group?  I know i used to run only because i needed it to keep in shape.  About 4 years ago I joined up with a running group and one day i woke up actually liking running.  I knew i was a "runner" when I headed out in heavy rain without a second thought.  I officially became one of the people I used to ridicule

Yeah Dan has been a tremendous help getting me up to speed, he already reviewed the videos I posted and gave me some things to work on.  I think he just moved up the christmas gift ladder!  He'll be on town in a few weeks and has offered to do a few one on one workouts!  Looking forward to it! If only I could get him to commute to St Louis from Chicago a few times a month!

I dont run with a group yet, still just getting used to running on a regular basis and per my current schedule most of my runs are late morning after I swim when most folks are at work (I usually get home around 10-10:15am)  I would imagine once spring has sprung I'll seek out some local groups for my long run/bike days (sat/sun).

Count me in!!!!

Despite my handle here at BT I'm a mother to a beautiful little boy. I've been running for three years now but just finished my first tri season. This year I did two sprints, two oly's, two half marathons, and one full marathon (my first!).

When I'm not out training I work as a full time paramedic, a job that I love. The best part is never having a "typical" day in the office. I live in Iowa in a sleepy little town that is perfect to raise my yound son in and commute to work.

Soooo this week my training has left a lot to be desired. My son was dianosied with IITP which is an auto-immune disease were his body is attacking itself. In three days he did two visits to the emergency room, one emergency transfer to the specilized childrens hospital, and an infusion of a blood component to save him.

I did managed to pull a 3 mile run in 30 minutes today and also spent some time with the weights and did some abd/core specific work as well. Hopefully now that my Little Man is improving my training will get back on scehedule.

Finished my HM -1:54:05.  Since I was just hoping to hold on to a sub 2hr time, this was a pleasant surprise.  Because of my lack of recent long running, I was afraid I'd blow up at mile 8.  This result makes me think I could have pushed the pace a bit more and still have been ok.  Still, I am happy with this result.

Thanks for all the well wishes!

Have to do some more whining. Got up this morning for my long run to find the sidewalks and roads covered in a layer of sleet. Got the 18+ miles in, what doesn't kill us just makes us stronger.

Awesome job. You deal with the hard stuff ahead time, you're not fazed by it race day!

So, yesterday my friend and I got some OWS in. I was fine until I lost my hairband. My hair kept flopping into my face, blinding me, and it made me freak the heck out. I froze on this one rock that held me above water. My friend didn't know I'd stopped, and I didn't want her to keep going and then think I drowned, so I got out of the water, ran through the beach area to holler at her, let her know I was OK.

I finally steeled myself to get back in and swim through a patch of water where I couldn't reach the bottom. I forced myself to be calm and to tread when I felt the panic coming on. Made it through, but I was so angry that I freaked out. Still angry about it. I'm going to continue to try though and wear a dang swim cap.

Blanda:  Wow, that was some swim.  Way to stick it out!

Lenny/Lumber Dad: You certainly earned the right to whine - great job!

Julee/GirlPassing: Weather was nice: upper 50s to start, kinda warm by the end.  Only a Floridian would say that the course was anything but flat - my Garmin says that the minimum elevation was 73 feet and the max 124; so to me there was so elevation gain

Hubbie:  Welcome!  Here's hoping for continuing recovery for your son.

Well all y'all are doing steller. Unfortunately my week was suppose to end with the La Porte run but the bay HM but my back saw otherwise. I took it easy this week prepping for the HM however I picked up my daughter just right (or wrong)way yesterday and now I'm walking like an old man. hopefully some good R&R today will get me moving again tomorrow. So how was everyones weekly total? Up until the back thing I had a light 13 mi of running and 24 mi of cycling.
