I would NEVER 2-time Nancy

She is the love of my life

The jelly to my peanut butter

The sun of my shine

A love like no other

The apple to my dumpling,

The twinkle of my eye

The only one for cuddling

Who makes my spirit fly

Oh how I long to feel ya

MY PEANUT BUTTER ATHENA!

Still, there is nothing wrong with a little innocent flirting!  I flirt all the time with out any expectations or ulterior motives.  My favorite is grandmothers and toll-booth operators.  Flirting is the life blood of... well... life!  Keeps you young and on your toes!

Only friends?  Only friends?  You say that like it's something secondary!  Friends are the currency of... well... life!

What is the first golden rule amongst girlfriends?  I hate golden rules, especially those I don't know about.  Golden rules are the mosquito bites of...err...never mind.

Hmm, Tom--you seem to be ranting. (o:

I can't tell you the golden girlfriend rules--top secret, you know--you ever become Thomasina, we'll let you know. And my pardon--I would NEVER diminish friendship, nor over-inflate harmless flirting. Nuff said.

Now about that black dress...

That was raving with just a touch of ranting.  Going against the grain, I rave and rant instead of ranting and raveing.

What did Nancy tell you about Thomisina?!?!?!?!?!?!

Thank you Tom. This makes me feel so much better about being an Athena. I was trying to lose weight before my tri so I would not even be able to qualify as one, But it's not happening and now... well if there were only more guys like you.

Allow me to pontificate for a moment….

I think there are.  Guys like me.  Guys who don't rely on the television or magazines to decide what is attractive or not.  Who wants a sheep anyway?  There was a line in Pulp Fiction where the girl tells Bruce Willis that it is a shame that what is so pleasing to the touch isn't seen as being pleasing to the eye.  Translated: What we find attractive and what we are told is attractive are two different things.  The honest and strong see through it, the week and superficial do what their told.

Good for you and your new found acceptance!  Don't worry about the classification.  At my tri there was a couple with matching t-shirts that said: "I love my Clydesdale" and "I love my Athena."  Both of whom were in marvelous shape.  Wear the classification with pride.  If someone doesn't like it, they better keep it to themselves, but I felt nothing but acceptance and quite a bit of respect.  Go get ‘em!

Please...pontificate away. I'll buy that. I never liked stick figure women anyway. Too afraid of breaking them!!!!! I believe the technical term is "zaftig."

Ya know.....I keep telling people thats why I like being slow. The women's waves usually start AFTER the men's. They all run past me. :D

I've avoided this thread just because I didnt think I would get it but its been going for a while so today I read and reading Mikes peanut butter comment after reading the poem almost knocked me out of my chair. That was the funniest wittiest response I've seen in a long time.

Mike is the master of stealth.  He waits in the dark, brooding bushes, letting the rest of us wear ourselves out with play and frivolity and... WHAM! he pounces... short and scathing, leaving the remains whimpering and jittery... in the dark..., wondering:

when will the next attack will come...

is that him?

No there...

Me pounce?
I don’t think so – a more a sloth than a tiger. I would have answered this early but I just couldn’t pounce. Besides I was thinking about athenas.

I was out at a do Wednesday night and in order to prevent myself being there all night (as is my normal Modus operandi) I went home first then turned up 2 hours late! I was still there at the end and the only girl left was someone who works for us and runs a lot – marathons etc. She must be about 6 foot and no more than 100 pounds. Vegetarian and a smoker – I don’t get it. I can’t find anything attractive (nice enough girl most of the time BTW) about her at all. Well I can appreciate the fact that here being a veggie means more steak for me at company do’s. and if you run marathons then why smoke?? Sigh.

Anyway – I think I should try to get my wife to do tri’s – she’d fit into the Athena category – which is just fine with me :D

Ok the queen of Athenas is chiming in fellows:

Sexy, smiling, silky, sultry

Woman of substance never murky

Sassy, smart, big and beguiling

Men are lost forever trying

Breaking hearts left and right

Her brickhouse frame tone and tight

Tyra, Twiggy and Cindy, all fodder

For this big gal smashing supermodels

Judging book by cover is dire

For this Athena is a two-time trier.

I came in 14 out of 25. Made me feel great. They lost our times so I don't know my exact times, but it was less than 2 hours.

THanks Cindy...I've become an addict of all things Athena...after placing 2nd in my last tri I've changed all future registrations to that category...my next tri is august 7th...I'm bringing home another placque baby!!!!

And hell, with inspiration and odes such as fair Thomas has graced us with, how can I go wrong? Now if only that Texan was out in California.....
