I don't know if TV showed it, but she fell in the first quarter of the race. Hit the deck pretty hard, then quickly got herself back in the pack. She surged hard twice late in the race to push for the win and/or the standard. Hats off to her. It was great fun to be in the stands for both races. |

He is leading the decathlon and I am not too sure how far ahead he is, but I am thinking it is by a safe distance. Just cleared 17-4 1/2 on the pole vault and no one else has gone above 16-4 1/2. That place had enough electricity during the 1,500 to light up the whole city. Eaton KILLED it the last 600. It was like Jenner gutting it out in '76. Freakin' awesome!Another cool thing about it was all of the other competitors were wishing him well before the race. You could tell they weren't just saying the usual good luck. They were pumping him up and telling him to go get it. Very cool. Finally, a shout out to Bryan Clay. He had a disaster of a day getting no mark in two events. He could have folded his tent and gone home, but he stayed and finished what he started. If Bud Greenspan, the Olympics documentarian, were still here, he would write, all honor to Bryan Clay. |

She was having a tough time keeping a lid on her emotions. She was clearly very appreciative of the opportunity to represent the USA and was having one of those surreal moments where she couldn't really believe she was going to the Olympics. It was such a genuine moment and very cool. |

Wow, this should be exciting. 1) One of the runner's can decline the position. If they do so, they are the 1st alternate. 2) If they both want a coin toss, it's a coin toss. If one of them wants a run off, it's a run off. If neither one of them announces a preference, then it's a coin toss. I don't think they announced how the coin toss would be done.
