Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() It's really unfortunate that Rogers didn't get the A standard. She ran a very gutsy race. I don't know if TV showed it, but she fell in the first quarter of the race. Hit the deck pretty hard, then quickly got herself back in the pack. She surged hard twice late in the race to push for the win and/or the standard. Hats off to her. It was great fun to be in the stands for both races. |

I hope you had your poncho! great night of running even if the women's 10k wasn't quite as exciting. Crazy day for the Dec. If only the weather cooperated. I'm still not convinced Ashton can do it away from Hayward I guess we'll see in London, won't we. |

Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Goodness gracious me. He is just tearing it up right now. He is leading the decathlon and I am not too sure how far ahead he is, but I am thinking it is by a safe distance. Just cleared 17-4 1/2 on the pole vault and no one else has gone above 16-4 1/2. Just wow. He is leading after 7 events completed. Up to date scoring here: http://www.usatf.org/Events---Calendar/2012/U-S--Olympic-Team-Trial... |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I can't believe I just sat in the stands and watched a world record in the decathlon. That place had enough electricity during the 1,500 to light up the whole city. Eaton KILLED it the last 600. It was like Jenner gutting it out in '76. Freakin' awesome!Another cool thing about it was all of the other competitors were wishing him well before the race. You could tell they weren't just saying the usual good luck. They were pumping him up and telling him to go get it. Very cool. Finally, a shout out to Bryan Clay. He had a disaster of a day getting no mark in two events. He could have folded his tent and gone home, but he stayed and finished what he started. If Bud Greenspan, the Olympics documentarian, were still here, he would write, all honor to Bryan Clay. |

Unbelievable. When I picked this as a "race" to watch I did not see that coming at all. I really really hope he as not peaked too early and that he and Trey can really do battle in London. |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Late-breaking news in the women's 100m. 3rd place has been declared a tie. This is going to be very interesting - the is no procedure for what to do in this situation. http://www.usatf.org/News/Women%E2%80%99s-100m-update-%E2%80%93-Dea... |

I agree. Bryan Clay is a class act. What a class act Curtis Beach was. He was just excited as Ashton was. Wow. Thank goodness I DVRd it. |

It looked like she came in 4th at the line from the angle they showed to me. But I'm still happy for her. |

She's local for me and came back from a nasty hamstring tear so making the team is AMAZING I was standing next to the awards area when they presented the awards to the hurdlers, maybe 10 feet away from Wells. She was having a tough time keeping a lid on her emotions. She was clearly very appreciative of the opportunity to represent the USA and was having one of those surreal moments where she couldn't really believe she was going to the Olympics. It was such a genuine moment and very cool. |

I didn't know about her when she was running HS track at James River. Her old HS is pretty close to the site of one of our favorite local tris.QueenZipp - 2012-06-24 2:02 PM Kellie Wells in the 100 hurdles!! WooHoooo!! Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I think there is going to be a runoff between Felix and Tarmoh. Wow, this should be exciting. ![]() 1) One of the runner's can decline the position. If they do so, they are the 1st alternate. 2) If they both want a coin toss, it's a coin toss. If one of them wants a run off, it's a run off. If neither one of them announces a preference, then it's a coin toss. I don't think they announced how the coin toss would be done. Who gets to call it? I mean i'd want to call it. Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Men’s 800 Final Preview Without a doubt, the men's 800 final was one of the highlights of the 2008 Trials. Meet organizers are certainly hoping for a repeat performance on Monday evening as the 800 is slotted in the marquee position of the night as the final event. The top six seeds during the qualifying period are all in the finals. Regular![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() The men's 5000 is a race that likely has the LetsRun.com nation salivating. Unlike the women's field which lacks standouts at the world level, the men's field is full of some real studs. Take a look at the six guy under the IAAF's fairly stiff standard of 13:20.00.
