If that's "preachy," then PREACH! You just made my day - I love this story and all that it means.

If I could hang out with the winner of that HIM, or you, it'd be a no-brainer. We'd be having dinner and talking

Very inspiring...you accomplished in a very short timeframe what would take years for most. I bet your friends barely recognize you!

Thanks for all the great responses.  This community, especially my mentor program, has been a huge part in what I was able to accomplish.

Final word: I hope this doesn’t come across as being preachy, and as me bragging.  I am no expert, but this worked for me.  I know a lot of people are interested in how others lose weight.  I offer no short cuts or tricks.  I simply ate less and moved more.

Not at all man, you are incredible and an inspiration. Congrats on reaching your HIM goal!

Your story is very inspiring! Thank you for sharing it and congrats on all your accomplishments this year. I don't struggle with weight loss, but do struggle with my mind.... to move past sprint distances to Olympic, I really have no excuse now after reading this.

I am the original poster and wanted to provide a quick update.  I had a lot of people mention to me I had great progress and to keep it up.  I am proud to say that I have.  I ran a half marathon in November, and met my goal of running it in under 2 hours (1:58).  I am doing some off season work, but have mostly been focusing on getting rid of fat and gaining muscle.  Here is a before and after picture, 364 days apart.  I weighed 303 in the first one, and 199 in the second. For those of you out there with New Year's Resolutions, work hard at it.  Mine was to lose weight.  Let me tell you it was worth it.  Everyone have a great year!!

Very impressive result. It is one thing to finish a HIM but to get a HM in under 2 hours from being 300 lbs....that is amazing man. Keep it up, be careful, but keep it up.

I am reading the original post for the first time- wow!  Especially great how drastically your resting heart rate and bp improved, and how you got rid of your asthma! Congrats on making a lifestyle change for the better!
