EV3110 - 2012-11-17 3:32 PM Did I mention I have a Half Mary tomorrow? Running Big Sur half with some newbie - half marathoners. I anticipate some walking. BUT that's OK with all the beautiful coastal scenery to take in. And it looks like we'll be running in the rain. :|

Have a great race!!!

Finished my week 2 of 5x5. Woot!

Nice job on the pacing!

Finished my 6th run of the week today, but one day was too short (time or distance) to count.  Had a 29 mile week, my most in a week since May of '08

WTG!!!  Ya'll actually made a fast time too.

Peto (Scott), fantastic on the 29 mpw!!!!

Had appts this afternoon and now off to tri club meeting so I had to get up at 5am to get my run in this morning.  I was ridiculously slow but it's done.  The stars were gorgeous tho so it was worth it.

Great job to everyone on their workouts!

Feet feeling a bit sore today. I had PF issues this summer and had to take 3 weeks off of running in August. Very frustrating. I've made a lot of changes that have helped. I saw a foot massager at Bed and Bath and eyed it for a long time.  Today will be 2nd run of the week.

Happy Tuesday!

Thanks Pam

Got run number 2 in this week, although it might be a stretch, seemed like more walking than running, especially the last mile.  Went out with AJ for her last run before the 4 mile Turkey Trot on Thursday.  Hopefully she can shake what is bothering her and have a great race.

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!!!

Got 2 runs that count today.  Did a 1.3 mile race warmup, 4 mile race, then when I got home I did another 3 mile cool down run.  Kind of funny, my 3 mile run was more time than my 4 mile.  Ready for the eating!!

On another note, my 10 yr old did her first 4 mile run today in the Mile High Turkey Trot.- she "kicked" it doing a 36:33

Yesterday got my 5th of the week with a 11.3 mile run in Central Park.  Unfortunately it wasn't NYC but Cumming Ga but still, I like this Central Park too.

Scott, that is awesome for your daughter!!!  Looks like you have a runner there.  Definitely look at XC when she goes to middle school; I think XC is so good for the kids then because they socialize with the older students - male and female - and have a "family" as they enter middle school.

I've got a problem that I thought that I would ask the group (and Kate in particular since I saw that she posted something similiar under injuries).  Last week (Sat) on my long run, I noticed extreme tenderness at the bottom of my feet around mile 15.  'Course everything was hurting so what the hey.  Ran Sun thru Wed and no pain while running.  I think tho that I had some foot tenderness Wed afterwards but not sure if I'm remembering correctly.  Thurs - extreme pain around my heels.  Not the heels themselves but on the outside of the foot, more intense on the inside.  Friday, no pain and I went for my long run.  I think the pain started at the very end (11 miles) but then the pain was there that evening.  Still there yesterday and today.  I think it's tightness in the tendons/ligaments/something because I can feel the pain when I flex my feet so that rules out bruises, right?  This morn, I flexed my feet and really felt like all was ok.  Got out of bed and dang, it hurts again to walk   Pain subsides the longer I'm on my feet.  Decided to go to out for a run today but threw in the towel after 3 min.  Any ideas??  I'm thinking about using the foot roller to work out kinks and I'm going to schedule a massage.  Just wanted to see if others had any ideas.  Thanks.  I know it's not the right place to post but I thought I'd ask you 5x5 runners.

Wrapped up my 5th run this week this afternoon.  A lazy little run but probably just what I needed.  Back at it next week.

Pam - don't know what to tell you, never experienced anything like that

, but might want to use roller/stick etc on calves, hamstrings and glutes too, improve flow and release tension throughout the lower body.

Kate, thank your for pm'ing me.  It really helped!  From what you said (and others have backed up), it's that stinking PF stuff I've read about and really hoped I wouldn't have to experience.  So I'm doing RICE, exercises, and massages to see if I can get this resolved.  I also like Peto idea's of the stick on everything because I've been ignoring those things and they could have contributed.  After all, it's all connected.

I'm out of the 5x5 challenge so I can address this but I sure did enjoy this challenge.  I'll still come back and check on everyone else's progress.  Good luck all of you 5x5'ers.

Definitely would not have done that without this challenge.  funny (sad) part is I have more run miles than bike miles
