1?

crazy day, trying to leave by 3 to enjoy the beautiful sunshine outside....

Question for you.

In your experience, is there a "quick" way to lose weight/lower body fat?

I think I know the answer.  Exercise and diet, burn 500-1000 more than you take in a day so 1-2 lbs a week.

The pills and the gadgets and the crazy diets don't work...

But I'm always looking for SOMETHING.

I hit the point yesterday when walking around LA and seeing all the fit people.  I put on 20lbs since IMAZ and need to get that off, plus 20 more.

how quick?  20 pounds (fat and muscle) is easy to take off in 2 months with a medium amount of discipline.  diet is more important than exercise, avoid alcohol and sugar.

20 pounds of only fat is harder to do.

I figure to lose BF, you would do a lot of low intensity cardio to utilize fat store, but still eat just about as much as your are buring of high protein/low carb meals.

Blech.

Why is putting 20 lbs on so much easier than taking it off?

BECAUSE FOOD IS SO MOTHER EFFING GOOD.

And bad for you food is even delishier...

Dude. Where you at? You're all over the map.

Mentally of physically?

What.
I assume you don't mean to include red wine or delicious cookes in this statement.

Umm yeah I got confused here too.

The other day I was feeling carb-depeated after a 3.5-hour ride, so whilst at the store picked up a package of gluten free soft chocolate chip cookies. Thinking I would eat a few that night, then ration like 1 a day till they were gone.

Wanna guess what happened?

Ate them in one sitting...

I bought a pack of Kashi brownies.  They're just good enough to satisfy the chocolate craving, but just not good enough to keep you from eating a whole box.

The cookies on the other hand are wicked good.  I managed to hold back and only eat 2.

all that health crap tastes awful to me.  usually dry and crummy.  any artificial anythings TASTE artificial to me.  i'd rather a tiny REAL peanut butter cup than lots of diet anything.

Have you ever had your gym bag just kind of flow like it was liquid off the locker room bench while you were standing on one leg putting on your pants and dump your stuff on the wet, germy floor?  Yes, I went swimming today.  Yes, I wore a wet shirt home.

I agree, but that's why I buy the yuck-tasting brownies.  So I don't give in to the craving.

When I'm with my family, I always gain poundage because we have the good stuff...you know... for the kids...That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We have a friend who is Vegan.  At her wedding reception they had deserts and some were vegan and some were not and they were not identified.

I always had to  spit out the vegan stuff out.  Blech.

They also had a BBQ and EVERYTHING was vegan.  I could deal with the "hamburger" but the veggie/vegan bratworst was a sin against creation.

I'm the same way.  I will go out of my way to avoid things labelled "low fat", "low calorie", whatever.  Just give me the real thing, made from scratch and not processed and I'm a happy camper.

Dude just jumped off the building across the street from my office.

Ugh, how sad does life have to be to do that.

It is never that bad that you have to go that way.

Luckily, I found out about it on twitter instead of while walking to the Taco Shack for lunch which is where he landed.

I think unprocessed bad food is probably better than completely process "diet" food.

For example, doing a veggie saute with real butter and some organic cheese is probably better (even if higher calorie) than some microwave veggie dinner with homogenized this or that and face cheeze wiz type sauce.

I knew that.

I had a buddy who taught his kid to say "Yeah and Deep Too" thinking it was funny until he's in the bathroom at grandma's house and he's yelling from the bathroom "GRANDMA!!! THIS WATER IS COLD AND DEEP TOO!!!"

Grandma thought he was in the toilet so she almost kicked the door down to get him.

I'm envious... I'd love to have some FLA-type weather right now.

I have two races tomorrow.  A 10-miler in the morning, then a 4-person marathon relay (of which, we may only have 3 people) in the evening.  Tis gonna be a fun day

Well it must be nice to be south of me... darn you. I scrapped my windows again this morning 32 degrees. It is now 48 degrees and that is all I have.

I will be down in Northern Florida cave diving for a week so it is not that warm there. But heck if it is 60-70 degrees I will be rocking a thong and a wife beater.
