I am just doing a long run on Saturday, probably 12-14 miles and that will be about it. I am working this weekend so that is all I will be able to squeeze in.

Fear not team.  The flu I got was that pesky stomach type.  You know the one that helps you work on a different type of run training.  I am feeling better, and it won't affect the workouts.  I needed a rest day anyways, that just convinced me.

Prowler, if you want to join our group - you are more than welcome.  Plenty of other groups have 6.  How is the training?

I just couldn't tell what the other one was.  Either way, it's all good.

Now it's time to get out that camera for some more bike porn.

I got to let the bike rest after the 1st half of the brick.  I don't know what it is complaining about, I didn't make it come along for the run.

Thanks everyone!

My story: Well, for the last 7 years since I graduated college, I have been trying to lose weight. Playing football in college, my bulk was to my advantage. But since then, the weight has slowly creeped up, including spending most of 2006 above 300 lbs. Despite the weight, I stayed very active. I played rugby and ran several races, including a sub-30 5-K a few years ago and a half marathon last summer.

Following a big move cross country from Chicago to Colorado, this last December I decided enough was enough. I want to live a long healthy live and be taken seriously as an athlete. So on Jan. 1, I began working out seriously and eating very well using the WW point system to get a gauge on healthy food and portion control. I have given up pop and alcohol for the month of January. This has gone well so far. I am down 12 lbs this far in January, and for the first time in a year am below 300.

Race wise, I have signed up for the Boulder Peak Tri in July. This will be my A race and training will be focused on that, although there will be others such as the Bolder Boulder and possibly a Sprint Tri in June. Beyond that for the year, I want to do another half marathon.

Training wise, I will use the 20 week Olympic program as my guide. I am fortunate to have a solid base in all three disciplines, so that will help. Some of my biking and running training will be trail based as I take advantage of the great resources here in Colorado.

My gear is varied. I rotate through 4 pairs of running shoes, and I need new trail ones. My bike is a Trek 3500 Mountain Bike. At some point I will look to get a proper road bike, but for that I need to save up some cash.

Thanks agains for letting me in the group. I look forward to achieving my goals alongside the rest of you.

Great start Adam!  I am going to watch you closely on the weight loss front.  As we've discussed before, you are already fast.  You will only be faster with a drop in weight.  As always, let me or the others know if you need any assistance. Great to have you as part of the group.  I look forward to following your progress and reading your race report in July.

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

I do love the bike photos. Here is mine. I may upgade to a tri bike later this year. I am doing IM CA on March 31 and if I LOVE it, I will upgrade.

So I will be hanging around, let me introduce myself.

My name is Tom. I'm 36. 5'11". I am right around 170#'s. 2 years ago I was 325 lbs and couldn't run around the block. I changed the way I ate and started losing. I wanted to lose more so I started running. I didn't expect what happenend next, I got hooked on running. I absolutely love it. I ran a marathon in october and loved that. I am now just looking for the next challenge. So I thought I would give a HIM a try. I did a sprint tri this past summer and had a lot of fun. I am just trying to get as much info as possible so I don't flop.

Thanks! I know part of the initial loss is the cleaning of the system of the from the Holidays. Probably a good deal of water weight and other assorted stuff. I think part of that is also no soda, as I was drinking 3-6 cans of Diet Coke a day before and stopped. It is weird, of all the things I have given up, soda is the one thing I crave.

But now with a good diet and hard work, I will probably lose closer to 2-3 per week. My goal for January is to get into the 280's, so stay tuned.
