Elite 3650 Laurium, MI | Subject: RE: ROUTES!!!! I broke it..... I entered a run route that looped back to the origional starting point (final click was on the first point). I entered a route name and a route description. I unchecked the 'private' box. When I saved it, I get the first image. Since there is only a comma for a name and no link to the route, I hit the edit box and get the second error. When I saved it, the map was in hybrid mode and the 'loop' button was illuminated but I did not click on it. I did lose network connection halfway through making the route, but was never redirected to a 404 page. I've a lot of routes in routeslip.com, and wonder if they could be brought over, or if they have to be redone? Again, awesome, and another reason to go gold here bump "Import From GPX file" on the lower left. GPX is the standard file format for this sort of thing. "Standard" is used somewhat loosely. There's at least one variation that was found yesterday that I have to make a change for. I see that on BT, but when I go to routeslip, I can't figure out a way to export. The files are all listed as html files. Here's my route list, so you can see what I am talking about (since you don't have anything else to do anyway ) |

Expert 897 Seattle WA | Subject: RE: ROUTES!!!! I noticed a possible bug in elevation calculations: I have two identical routes, routeID 462 and 800 http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=462 http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=800 The elevation change for hte first is 299 ft vs the second has 111ft. I realize how the program calculates elevation change, but both have a lot of points, and no steep grades at all, only very shallow hills that are definitely well covered by the points. WHen I open the two routes up, they both appear identical. Only difference was that Route 462 was created with BT's program, whereas route 800 was imported from a GPX file from gmap-pedometer. thanks, tom |

The files are all listed as html files. Here's my route list, so you can see what I am talking about (since you don't have anything else to do anyway ) I just made a very cool discovery. I was thinking why would another website make it easy for you to export the file from their site, but I have previously used favoriterun.com and it was actually very easy. If anyone else uses this site, you just login, go to your routes and on the right side of the page you can click on "gpx." It will prompt you to save it as a text file on your computer. Then go to BT and create a new training route and use the upload gpx function on the left hand side. ChrisM, I'm not sure if this will help you or not on the website you were using. Two observations: 1) The elevation function didn't seem to work on my uploaded route. Not a big deal for me because it is flat as a pancake where I live anyway, but for others... Maybe this is because elevation wasn't available at favoriterun.com? 2) When you go to save your uploaded route the "save route" button is greyed out. It still works if you click on it though. I'm really happy to have this function and really happy to not have to redraw the 22 routes I have on favoriterun. As I said in a previous thread, great enhancement that I will use at least once a week if not more. |

Champion 13323 | Subject: RE: ROUTES!!!! parrj, It shifts? Can you post screenshots of this? It is a 'connect the dots' kind of thing...if you want to 'stay' on the road, you have to zoom in more and put the points closer together...they wont automatically stay on the road...I hope I read this right... Attach a screenshot if this isn't the case. parrj - 2007-01-30 4:28 PM This only happens on my home laptop. Happens with other sites as well like gmap-pedometer and what not. Champion 11641 Fairport, NY | Subject: RE: ROUTES!!!! Figured it out. We're storing the elevation in feet, but the source site is storing it in meters. Meters is apparently the standard (I didn't double check my sources on this). Any routes created here are fine but any imported routes that have elevation will read incorrectly. We're going to fix this probably sometime tomorrow night. You won't have to do anything if you've imported any routes. We're going to change the way we store elevation data internally to match the rest of the world. This will be necessary for when we start exporting data for your Garmins etc. If you've imported a route from one of the sites that doesn't have elevation data, this obviously isn't an issue. So we have 3 priorities with this for right now: 1- change our internal elevation data to be stored as meters tpetersen02 - 2007-01-30 5:21 PM I noticed a possible bug in elevation calculations: I have two identical routes, routeID 462 and 800 http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=462 http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/training/map.asp?routeid=800 The elevation change for hte first is 299 ft vs the second has 111ft. Do I need to take an actual picture. The dots are on the road, the line shifts off the dots. So the lines don't connect the dots anymore. |

Marmadaddy may have some ideas on this...
