Awright awright, Cancellara was first OFF the course and we give you props for that (and a one-day respite from heckling) ... but Barloworld's Enrico Degano was first ON the course and we intend to keep jumping into this challenge headfirst.  Unfortunately, sometimes literally, being newbies.

Hi Team - there has been a query with regard to cycle commutes, should they be counted as one stage or two?

Ive already stated that two a day workouts are fine i.e a spin class in the morning and a road ride at night would be two stages BUT a commute could be argued to be different as technically you HAVE to ride both ways...

Personally I think it comes down to how you counted it when you committed your stages... as long as you state how you are counting your commute in the beginning and stick to it I have no major objections but if anyone has a strong opinion regarding this please let me know.

Thanks

Cat

PS: HUGE congratulations to everyone who has already got a ride in for the challenge

One more update - Ankle is recovering nicely and I should get the all clear to be back on the bike tomorrow! So CSC... a couple of two a day workouts and I will be back on track for the challenge.... 21 stages HERE I COME!!!! (Will just use Stuey O'Grady as my inspiration... real hard man that one)

Another 19 miler today.  Was able to get outside to do it which was nice.  I thought it would be a trainer day (riding outdoors always makes the miles go faster anways).

Today was a stretch, but sleeping in and having a number of plans for the week change, I have some serious tweaks to the weekly training plan.  Still haven't totally figured it out.

But based on the 15 minute minimum, I got my prologue in today instead of Saturday.  3 stages, 4'32" and 74 miles

Today was more of a recovery day than anything else, so I only got 10 miles on the trainer this evening while watching the Tour.  I follow it online at Cyclingnews.com, so I already know the results, but it is still fun to watch.

3 days, 3 rides.  43 + 19 + 10 = 72 miles.

YAY CAT for Captain!

Hehe ok if Im captain I have one nice request... please post your results for the week in this thread on a Monday I can pick them up when I do the updates for the challenge!!!

I dont know if you want a captain that seems to be a little injury prone..... I wonder if I can stay in one piece for the whole 19 days left!

Chris Tree - 2007-07-11 1:45 AM Cat, you could ride the drainer whilst watching the tour. Kill the proverbial two birds!

hehe I have been...trainer while watching the highlights actually... did it tonight when i got home from work... it wound me down so I could have a nice nap before the live action started!!!

The original plan was to rider every stage but BOTH my ankles and one knee are swollen and tender at the moment... so taking it easy and just riding the highlights!

Oh WOW who saw the end fo Stage 3!!! I have SO MUCH respect for Cancellara right now... that man was NOT ready to give up Yellow... FANTASTIC!!!

I have this pet hate of teams who 'gift' away the yellow jersey to a breakaway because its too hard to defend... when others will give it all for just one day in yellow... Cancellara obviously wants and respects the jersey.. so right now I LOVE him
