I guess swimming must be everyone's hard point as I do not see any bike/run challenges (or am I just missing them?). then wrote: I'm in for 350 fifty miles on the bike (way over my personal most since 1995). Buck And you think I have a warped mind? I was thinking more like breaking your previous record by a couple of miles. And I define "couple" as like five or ten. But your goal is much more ambitious. Good for you! This is my first challenge, and I'm glad it's swimming/biking. My swimming is much better than my biking. And my biking is way better than my running. And since I'm using a stationary bike 'cause that's all I have so far, you can guess at just how bad my running is.... Put it this way, if this was a running challenge, I'd have to ask if walking counted! Dee We'll see how the month falls out! I love these challenges. This is only my second one but it totally motivates me. I have been accused of being "Type A" more than once and this stuff really gets me going! Welcome to the world of "Challenges." They are awesome! Buck |

Regular 109 Rehab with Brittney | Subject: RE: September - Swim and Bike challenge for Fall Tri's Justi n before the deadline Dallas, TX here...Yeehaw! I'm looking at: Swim 5 hours Bike 10 hours Man, that's almost embarrassing putting that on paper (or screen or whatever), but I'm a total n00b. I've been putting in alot of running as I want to do a half-mary in November, but maybe this will motivate me for the other disciplines. Now just got to get my lazy butt to the pool at lunch. |

Pro 6582 Melbourne FL | Subject: RE: September - Swim and Bike challenge for Fall Tri's OK everyone. Below is the breakdown of the teams. I joined the ROW team to help out with the number. hey, I've been around the world a couple of times so it works! Review your goals below again and if you see an error or simply want to update them let me know ASAP.
Now get out there and train and come back here with your smack! Remember 'week 1' is for up to the 9th, which represents 30% of the month, so falling behind early may hurt in the end. Also this challenge will reward exceeding your goals by enabling you to go up to 120%, but if you meet your goals before week 3 you'll need to increase your goals ~10% before >100% kicks in. "Hey...may the best monster win", "I plan to" Monsters Inc.

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: September - Swim and Bike challenge for Fall Tri's Swim 24,000 yards Bike 185 miles Wow, you're quick. I adjusted those numbers downwards a bit, right after posting them. But... well, OK..... This *IS* a challenge, after all! And so I will challenge myself to reach those original numbers. 24,000 yd swim and 185 mi bike, it shall be! (whimper) All of which means I'd better stop goofing off online, and get onto that bike! (Forget smack talking - I'd better pedal like crazy! Fortunately, I've been keeping up with the swimming, at least.) GO EAST! Swim, swim swim! Pedal, pedal, pedal! Dee |

Chris For the week totals, no real need to post it other than bragging rights! I'll be checking all the logs regardless... Had a unexpected ride last evening. Went to pickup the car at the dealership and lo and behold it wasn't finished. So I rode home last night against a crossing headwind, and had to ride into work again this AM. Yeah baby! Swim on tap for tomorrow during my son's swim meet.

Champion 23360 Taser-World | Subject: RE: September - Swim and Bike challenge for Fall Tri's Go East Team! I have now completed: 25.5% of my Swimming Goal. 23.5% of my Biking Goal. I bought one of those knee bands that wraps just under the knee, and used it when I biked. When I read about the bands, I said, "How in the world is that gonna work?" But yep, it seems to have helped. (Even if it's just psychosomatic relief, I'll take it.) Dee |

Sooooo..... Does this mean that you'll be biking to work every day during September? You did it today, so why not for the rest of the month? Imagine how well you'll do on the challenge! I'm evil, aren't I? Evil Dee |

Dee sooooooooo, does this mean you were sandbaging when you set your goals!? LOL! No, actually immediately after posting those goals, I thought, "Oh no! What have I just gotten myself into!" I was worried that I'd been too ambitious, and that I'd be letting my team down when I couldn't achieve them. So I've been hustling my aching body down to the pool to swim, and onto the bike (stationary is all I have). My shoulders, back and knees have been telling me they aren't happy with me. But I've been plodding along, anyway. So, I'm not sure I can keep up this pace (without paying the price). But I'm determined to at least get to my goals. (Yes, the Type A personality has surfaced.) And then, when this challenge is over, I'll probably sleep for most of October. Dee |

Melon Presser 52116 | Subject: RE: September - Swim and Bike challenge for Fall Tri's I'm in -- less than an hour short of the deadline! Technically, I'm Westside (even westside of westside of westside, actually), but considering I started the challenge in Rest of World (Bali), I'm happy to join either team (maybe whoever has fewer members?). Bike minutes = 840 (14 hours) Swim minutes = 500 (8 hrs 20 min) |

Ok so, I'm off to a decent start. Yesterday I was looking at my goals and realized that I included the planned training for the last 5 days of Aug in my Sept goals - D'oh! So, I guess I really do have my work cut out for me - yikes - the bike, shouldn't be a problem, the swim, well I have to find time for an extra 4,500 yds somewhere - maybe I'll have to sacrifice an elipitcal workout or two - bummer (not) - lol Go Central Team! |
