Wow, see I leave for one day and BAM!!! someone was able to make a decision.

Im up for only one, my long swim/ride is Saturday so Sunday will have to be short (1 loop). I might be able to drag my two tri-virgins as well, but the tour is little long for them right now.

See in Sunday morning

Woz - If one lap is enough, you can always jump out after one. Or, do a shortened 2nd loop.  Really, ANY time we get together, if what we are doing is not what you need to do, you can do your own thing.  56 miles is tough. We will be pushing it on the first loop, and going a bit slower on the second.  We usually eat breakfast afterward (because we are starving!) and on this loop we at at Sunny Side Cafe right where we park.

Zach - Woz really Schruted his post!

Milton - Look forward to meeting you!!

See most everyone tonight!! WOOT!

Ok, just finished a 100meter swim and a 14mils mtn ride at Butcher Jones and I am wiped. i will still show in the morning ready to go. I just have one question. Most of the time i ride alone and very rarely ride in a group unless Im riding with the tri-virgins. Im thinking about riding with the 2 loopers (me doing one lap) but need to know the avg speed you ride at. Can someone inform me?

MM - OOOH do post about your mtn bike ride at Butchers. I am going to do the XTerra out there this next year and am very curious about the course. Would love to ride it with ya sometime.

As for MPH...UMMM...it depends on how you are feeling I think its anywhere between 16-18. There's usually someone to ride with in that range. Looking forward to meeting you (and the other people I have yet to meet!)

I picked up the bike from Robot and Sportyj today and bought a few things to get it ready -- thats the good news. The bad news is that I left my card in the ATM and have since canceled it... so I'm stuck with a 1/8th tank of gas and whatever food I have in the fridge until Monday. Chances are I will not be joining you because of this little mishap, but I will call Tanya if things change. Sorry, I've been looking forward to this all week.

If anyone catches this tonight Robot and I are now semi one loopers. We are going to start from our house and ride down to the intersection of Ellsworth and Warner(I think - its the street below the proving ground). We will try and be there before the second loopers come down Ellsworth. IF we are not there then just keep going, don't wait we don't want our little experiment to screw anyone up, we will try and play catch up. If we get there early we will stop and wait for everyone. Worst case scenario we will see everyone at breakfast!!!

I'll add to the "if anyone sees this" fun. I told Tanya last night that I was going to show at 7:30 and run and then have breakfast. My daughter is now coming with me, so we're going to show at 8:30 or so and then meet you for breakfast. Not like I would have run for 1.5 hours anyway!

More of an FYI, since it's not like anyone on the ride has to wait for me.

SUNDAY SEPTEMBER 30TH RIDE

Harry and I have consulted each other about what's on the docket for HIM traiing on Sunday, (I tried to get Josh's input as well, but the Bot has apparently been left unplugged), and my training plan calls for a 2 hr bike followed by 1hr run brick.  He said he was up for that. Since there is a great canal for running right next to the library on Greenfield and Guadalupe (right on our Tour de Gilbert loop) we thought meeting up there would be perfect. The Reparian Preserve park right next door has bathrooms as well.   When all is said and done Einstiens is just 1 mile down the road.  Also, we could start from the library and go counterclock wise on our loop to the top of Elsworth, and then do a turn around instead of doing a loop and doing Guadalupe. If we get back to the library before 2 hrs, we can just keep going on Guadalupe and make it stretch to 2hrs. I would like to try to push it a bit, and not stop or water, etc....during the ride.  If anyone is slower or does not want to go as far, they could turn around at any point on the trip.  Also, the run is optional, but highly suggested. Brick training is important. Even if you do not want to run for a full hour, it's good to run some.  Anyway......  let's discuss and decide what to do. For now this is what I am proposing:

Sunday, Sep 30 - Meet at 6:00 ready to ride at 6:15. SE corner of Greenfield and Guadalupe. Far east parking lot on North side of building.  2 hr ride followed by 1 hr run. Breakfast to follow at Einstiens on Val Vista and Guadalupe at 9:45.

1 posible change for consideration:
We can go over to Lindsay now that they've repaved it. That way we don't have to go down Guadalupe at the end. There are less lights over there.

Sounds good. But does Lindsey have bike lanes all the way down to Pecos? I remember Lindsey's bike lanes cut off at some stupid point last year when I tried to ride south on it.

I will drive down it tonight on my way home from the gym and scout it out.

Lindsay is good. Not sure what Botso has planned -

IF we NON HIMers do decide to do something different I (or someone else) will propose a sister ride that ends at the same place that skips the run part. I am in the process right now of figuring out my quarter training so I will get back to ya on this! I am sure I am in, but may have something slightly different as I want to train more for my distance. Going long is good but not necessary when trying to get FASTER.

Oh good! I was trying to figure out a smaller loop or whatever and just couldn't make my little brain work. JEN TO THE RESCUE!!  Sweet! You figure out the shorter alternative, and tat way we will have 2 options.

And for the REALLY crazy Half IM - Going straight into Full IM/Marathon training people, there's the Sunday morning duathlon option

I'm going to run for an hour before the ride as well if anyone wants to go even longer. I just realized I need to get in a 4 hour brick sometime before the half. (nutrition practice)

I'll try to ride Lindsay up to Pecos for you guys and find out. Last time I was on it south of there it wasn't good riding. (Construction as I recall).

I drove down Lindsey last night, and there is a bike lane all the way down to Williams Field, and at that point it narrows to no bike lane, and a 2 lane road for about 1/4 of a mile, then opens up again. So I say we go for it. Val Vista has all sorts of barricades on the edge of it now like it's slated next for resurfacing or something, so best to avoid it anyway.

I will probably be jumping in on your ride Jen.  Thanks for making a route for us!

Tanya may also decide that Aaron will join us if she isn't in the mood to punish him too much

Are you also planning a run for us as well?  I didn't know if we would also do a brick?

whalers34 - 2007-09-24 3:48 PM Tanya...like normal, can you just tell me what I will be doing?

You can do whatever you feel like doing.  I was going to suggest you do the longer ride and a half hour run afterward, but I could cut you some slack and let you go with Jen and Chris.  Did you get a run fuel belt yet?

OK here is what I (and Robot too I guess) am/are thinking since some of the shorter loopers have PBR coming up AND SOMA so here was a thought in combining some nice long "tri-ish" training that some people could jump in on the bike-run only. Pay close attention here:

**NOTE: Times to be determined, please suggest!

Sunday 9/29
Mtn Bike, Road Bike, Trail Run Tri

Meet at McKellips and Crismon

Leg 1 - Ride a 10(ish) mile mountain bike loop at Usery. Ridden counterclockwise:
Sorry for the crappy route making I was ina rush. SUPPOSED to be working here right?

Leg 2 - Ride the famous Usery Loop (23 miles). **Can be riddin clockwise for lots of challenge or counterclockwise for some nice little climbing challenges. Again, input needed.

Leg 3 - Back to where we parked for a trail run. The lower trails here are more like running on crushed granite trails and do not require trail running shoes. We can determine a loop and distance/ time after the ride. The levee trail is alot like running at the Gilbert canals. Moon rock is smooth and has a little bit of elevation and Blevens is more rocky with washes. Something for everyone!
(see mtn bike map)

** I propose we decide on a neutral location to meet up for breakfast for everyone. AS ALWAYS people can choose to join in on one, two, or all of the legs. I will post the times as we determine them. IF someone only wants to road bike, the Usery loop can be lengthened by riding loops in Las Sendas or going TWICE

THOUGHTS?

^^^^Thanks Aaron, but you didn't say if you're going to be on the long course with the HIM's, or the short with the OLY's :-)

Hmm, the pics that you posted are showing as broken links on my page Jen.

Chris - You may not be able to view shutterfly at school. I usually use photobucket but I cannot view that at work so I went with shutterfly. Josh said he can view them at home, so try when you get home. SORRY!
