shawn barr - 2007-10-02 1:51 PM Vampires ARE your bad omen!!!

No, this is:

Haa!!!  That's not a bad omen.  That's fuel for our run.

Sorry guys...have been out of the loop.  Off-site work training.  Have only done biking and swimming this week, but I have 8 miles planned for tomorrow and another 8 on Saturday.  Stink on rock on BO team!

Hey all - sorry for the delay in introductions. My name is John and this challenge came at a perfect time for me. I had been lurking around after a hard time emotionally this summer and lost my motivation when I found this challenge. This was a productive year for me training and racing - I did my first tri & couple of 5K - but am hoping to make next year much better. I am currently looking for a half mary to enter for some additional motivation.

I have only competed in one other challenge & found it to be extremely helpful to have someone (or several people) to hold me accountable.

I committed to 40 miles this month and have gotten 5 in so far - a good start for me. So, we will report our miles on Monday to Tammy - is that right?

Good luck everyone - lets spread the BO!

Don't need to report your miles - I'll come get them off your log.  All you have to do is get the miles in to make us look good - and hey, you're already doing that!

If anyone is participating logging something other than the running option on their blog, please let me know either on this thread or via pm.  For example, I know some who are injured are using elliptical or walking.  I want to make sure I count every single mile and minute that is coming to us!

SORRY TEAM, I really really really wanted to run. When I drove home from work it was raining, just like every other day for the last 2 weeks, but that was ok, I can run in the rain, but when I wanted to go it was not as much raining as a monsoon And as I wanted to run and not aqua-jog I stayed inside Sorry sorry sorry.

But the training gods punished me doing swim training by letting me taste my dinner a couple of times So I have learn my lesson, next I will just put on my goggles and go running.

Don't worry about it Mesteren.  It's way early in the challenge and we'll help you nudge the rest of your runs up a fraction of a K to make up for it.  You could have gone out, caught a cold, been sick and out of commission for a week, THEN where would be be?

Got caught up with logs from yesterday and today.  At 5 miles now.  Have a 3mi jog as part of a brick planned for Saturday but I think that is going to turn into a 3mi walk at the moment as my knee is acting weird on me.  I'll definitely reach my goal even if I have to skip on one leg to make it happen.

Hi Team,

Just got back from the Physio... wanted to let you know what was going on with my knee... here is the update I just posted in my log:

Physio Update: I have Runners Knee... basically because i have a curvey womanly figure my gorgeous hips mean my legs come inwards natuarally at a acute angle then flare out from below the knee.

This fact combined with a weak inside knee ligament from an old injury, inside thigh muscle that doesnt fire AND a strong rest of my leg means my knee alignment sucks and everytime I move my knee the knee cap is rubbing on my joint causing inflamation and subsequent pain.

The positive is I have caught it early. Monday before work Im seeing a physio to get a whole bunch of corrective exercises to work on my alignment and get the leg muscles firing correctly. Im also going to probably have to learn to strap my knee so I can do it before training in the long term (possibly)

Between now and Monday - no running, some swimming if I want (but with the pull buoy mainly), light riding but not much else... can I have any more injuries, illnesses or health problems?

The other positive is I booked in for a massage on Wednesday AND if my knee does calm down over the weekend I wil be able to run some next week... well walk with some running.... maybe.

These physio's are fantastic... its a sports med practice and they are ALL used to dealing with athletes... I told her I want to race in 3 weeks... she said I wont say no but ask the guy on Monday once its had a weekends rest... so I shall!!! Fingers crossed for me please!
