Master 3479 Utah | Subject: RE: Rebellious Reindeer Hi all-I'm Amy, I live in Salt Lake City, I'm married with 2 kiddos, and I work as a pediatric nurse (well, sometimes!). i haven't set my goal yet for this month, it'll probably be in minutes/hours, though because I'm not really sure how fast I swim anymore...it's been over a decade since I last swam for fitness. I'll give a better intro later--I've hijacked my hubby's computer and he just walked back into the room... (BUSTED) |

Pro 4507 Simpsonville, SC | Subject: RE: Rebellious Reindeer Good Sunday afternoon! I just finished a 36 mile bike ride. It felt really good to ride. I guess I've re-adjusted to riding the road bike vs. the tri bike. Tomorrow is my first swim for the challenge. 3200 yards on tap for after my shift. Keeping fingers crossed that nothing happend to interfere with my plans. Off to get out of my skanky cycling knickers. Pam |

My name is Melissa and I live in sunny southern California. I'm a bit late joining the party because I just got back from vacation. I'm new to the tri world, but hope to do my first event in either late 2008 season or early 2009. My goal for this challenge is 4 hours in the pool. I've just recently started swimming again, so I went for time instead of yardage since I'm still working on the basics. Beth - it's great to be on your team, girlfriend!! |

Champion 19812 MA | Subject: RE: Rebellious Reindeer I learned a lot a the CAAN Sports clinic today. First I understand how all aspects of swimming interacts and doing one thing wrong/right makes a huge difference on other aspects of my stroke. Secondly so much of what I learned from TI (total immersion) is wrong to being able to swim fast so I have many bad habits to relearn. Here are the key points that I need to work on (ie mostly everything)
3. Next need to in recovery keep elbow high and as my elbow moves forward keep arm pit open..doing this keeps me on my side and again displaces less water and I'm narrower in the water. 4. Hand needs to drive forward and aim 6-8" down below the surface which actually starts the rotation to the other side and gets my other arm in the proper recovery position and on my side ie more narrow. 5. Need to work at extending my legs from my hip and kicking from my feet/ankles which helps all the above body position. I am so tired of being BOP swimming after swimming 3x a week for 4 years. I want to have a break through winter and I hope this challenge helps me get off on the right foot. Sorry this is so long...trying to remember what I learned. |
