I'm ahead of where I'd planned to be (yay!), so I'm going to raise my goal. I'll change it on the spreadsheet. New goal: 22,300 yards. We had some unexpected visitors at the pool today. So swimming has been more, um, "exciting" than I had anticipated. (Check my log if you really want more info....) Happy Swimming! ![]() OK Dee, I have yours and Kendra's changes made. |

Champion ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Donto! Question about the week two entries.... When I put in this week's numbers, I'm taking them from the logs. The result is that the spreadsheet then adds week 1 and week 2 together in the "weekly totals" column, which makes the total look higher than it actually is. (For example, "Jane" did 1000 yds during week 1, and 1000 yds during week 2. Her total is ACTUALLY 2000 yds..... But in the spreadsheet, it adds 1000 + 2000, giving her a "weekly total" of 3000!) Do you want us to clear out the week 1 totals? Or should we calculate how much people really did in week 2? (Dangerous!) Or should we just enter what the log says, and let you take care of the "other stuff?" Thanks! Dee Edited by D001 2007-12-16 1:26 PM |

It appears you are putting the monthly total in for each weeks sub-total. Looking at your entry as an example, you stated that you had 18k+ for week 2, but you only did 8450 for week. If you use the link to the logs provided (calender view) on the right side is the weeks sub-total. Just the way it was done since I morphed one of the 1st (original) challenge spreadsheets someone else did a long time ago into what it is now. I never changed it to use the monthly totals and subtract the difference for the weeks sub-total. Don

Well, I understood the issue. ![]() a) Clear out the week 1 results. Enter the total amounts (to date) in the week 2 column. (This would give us a running total.) b) Calculate how much people really did in week 2. (Dangerous!) c) Just enter what the log says for week 2, and let you take care of the "other calculations?" d) Something else. Personally, if I get a vote, I opt for "A." It's easy to clear out the Week 1 amounts, and just put the current amounts from peoples' logs in the Week 2 column. ![]() ![]() Dee Edited by D001 2007-12-17 12:26 PM |

![]() ![]() ![]() Not sure what to really say Dee. If you just keep adding in the weekly subtotals in the corresponding columns in the spreadsheet, the SS takes care of everything else. If you want to clear the previous weeks and just post the actual work for the week we are on then go ahead. All I need is the data for the week we are on as the master SS has everything compiled. Here's your teams week 2 SS revised. See what I'm doing here? Donto Attachments ---------------- wk2 AvengingAngels-a.xls (43KB - 30 downloads) |

Pro ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Captain Elves, I have all the data compilied, but I have noticed that a couple of teams have some MIA teammates, this may due to the weather (at least 1), illness (2), MIA, etc. Let's give it another day before we post the Week 2 results and if you see that someone has updated their logs then we can update and post here. My team has one MIA but it seems to be do to ab illness and then life issues. I have asked to see if they are still interested in the challenge. Here's NN wk2 results for now. I'm off to the lab and will be away from BT for most of the day... Attachments ---------------- wk2-NuttyNutcrackers.xls (42KB - 24 downloads) |

I stay away from subtracting the weekly totals from one another as you stated that's dangerous! My mind is flying with ideas how to change this for the future |

Individuals who achieve more than their committed goal will not have these additional swims counted in the first 3 weeks of the challenge (so increase your goal!!!) So if someone exceeds their goal before the last week of the challenge, the extra yardage doesn't count, but there's no additional penalty - is that the correct understanding? thanks! |

So if someone exceeds their goal before the last week of the challenge, the extra yardage doesn't count, but there's no additional penalty - is that the correct understanding? thanks! I'm not enforcing rule #4 anymore because of the issue with pool closures, it would have been a nightmare. But as captain I believe you should encourage people to push their goals a bit if they expect to continue swimming. 120% max is still the max if it is reached now or later. So yes any extra work >120% doesn't count and there is no additional penalty. |
