So in an effort to not let my son grow up like myself...
I just scheduled and paid for private swim lessons...
I'm hoping this will help get him comfortable enough with the water to get him into group lessons...

I think thats great - I learnt to swim as a kid and even if you dont keep it up its a really good skill to have. Means you can go to a beach anywhere in the world and (within reason) be ok...

Plus you dont have to worry about him around water...

How are the energy levels Jen?

Still a little low.  Waiting for the new thyroid dose to kick in.  Should only be a few more weeks.

Yeah... hard to believe I grew up ON the water and never learned properly how to swim... never felt comfortable without a life jacket actually ON while I was in the boat or water.  Even in our family swimming pool I always had either a life jacket or swim tube...

I started when I was pretty little, so it should help him.  Hope he enjoys the lessons.

It usually takes about 6 - 8 weeks every time I get a dose increase.  To be honest, I'm kind of getting used to this.  I've been doing this for a little over a year now.  I'm much better at managing between dose changes now - extra B vitamins seem to help a little.

I think he's going to enjoy coming to work with Mommy more than the swim lessons.  It's going to be crazy trying to balance getting him here (and home sometimes) without going in circles and burning a ton of gas.
I'm hopeful that I can stick him in one of our "day camps" even though he's underage for it.

Do you have any Benadryl cream or hydrocortisone cream?  Put a very small amount under your eye and make sure it doesn't go it.  Helps a lot.

okay here's a funny story about me...

Started teaching aerobics in 94'ish while at small university I despised... transferred back to party central where all my friends were and tried to get job teaching at rec center on campus... it was a pretty tuff click to get into... as I'm leaving the facility after interviewing the coordinator comes running out the building after me to ask if I had ever taught water aerobics and would I be willing to teach the COunsel on Aging class...  well, for some crazy reason I immediately responded that though I'd never taught I'd love to and enjoyed working with seniors...
I didn't even own a swimsuit appropriate for teaching in at the time... I sucked it up, taught on deck for the first two weeks, no deep water for an entire semester (not that the ladies cared)... I lasted with that group until I graduated (a year and a half later)  That's when I finally became comfortable with the water, but still couldn't swim in the deep end without a water belt or noodle.

Unfortunately, I don't have anything like that here at work...  I'll just have to suck it up til I get home.  I have some Visine Allergy at home.

What really sucks is I have a meeting at church right after I get off of work!!!  Agh!!!

Ok - so here's Mila's answer on the muppet revolution

One of the cool tri-chickies in my tri club wanted her BT friends list to look like the Muppet Show so we, being fantastically supportive of course, obliged... and, well, it seems to have caught on around here!
