OFFICIAL CHIP TIME 31:40.

my friend was ELATED.

YAY! Great job pacing Stacie!

That was always my FAVOURITE thing when I was a trainer and taught bootcamp - pacing people on runs ... they never thought they could do it, they were also so happy and excited and ELATED (perfect word) when they pushed through it and blew out their expectations. Such a great feeling, isn't it.

Happy Birthday Cathy!

I just turned 50 the last day of March.  I am looking forward to this year and this decade being exceptional!

Have a great day and a great evening out.   Sounds like you had a wonderful Mom's Day, too!

Blessings,
SHarie

Thanks to everyone for the birthday wishes!! Art, I don't know how to do that cool graphic stuff, either. And the coolest thing is that when I turned 40, THAT was the new 30! But looking at my kids, I know why. It's because 20 is the new 10!

I really am excited about turning 50! There is so much to look forward to! My children are all grown and out of the house. I finished a long career, and it just really seems like smooth sailing from here.

Thanks again & happy training!

Hello again, Manatees!

What's on tap for everyone today?

I have a 40 minute run on the treadmill slated for today. It's scary incline work. I'm supposed to ride my bike, but I don't feel like riding. So I'm not going to. Ever since that HIM, I can't seem to get back into riding. I've been a few times, but my heart is not in it. Running & swimming are coming along ok, but I just can't seem to make myself get back on the bike.

Is anyone racing this weekend?

Subject: slightly out of touch for a week
Hey peeps - just want to say that I'm going to be a bit out of touch (ie: off the internet) quite a bit over the next week - my parents arrive on the noon ferry today for a week-long visit.

I am stressed to the max and they are not even here yet. I have enough trouble in my life at the moment without adding their negativity and scrutiny to the mix.

I had a pretty crappy childhood, left home when I was 17, didn't talk to my parents for a few years, reconnected, had a tenous relationship at best for a decade or so ... I haven't seen them in a year and a half, actually.

I'm hoping it will go better than past visits. They've both retired in the past year and seem to have mellowed - and if the weather cooperates I will keep them busy with sight-seeing, helping in the yard with my landscaping projects, etc etc ... the Museum here currently has a great exhibit (pieces from the Royal British Museum - just awesome) ... there's lots to do - but the question always remains "will they cooperate" ... oh if only they'd just stay in a hotel. If only I had the money to pay for a hotel.

Enough - sorry - I'm venting ...

Anyhoo - as my life is not my own when they are here it is unknown if I'll be able to really get on the internet (and if I do - will my mother be reading over my shoulder) ...

My goal for the week - stay sane, train at least 4 days, and stick to 3 alcoholic drinks per day.

STACIE! GOOD LUCK IN YOUR RACE! I'll for sure be logging on Sunday night to read your RR, and please know that I am wishing you well even if I am absent!

EVERYONE ELSE - keep the shiny side up!

Stacie - how exciting to be doing your first "real" Tri!   Wishing you safety and speed!   I will definitely be anxiously awaiting a full RR.   I love reading them!    I know you will do great.

TR - glad  you could vent here...it is so important to have a place where you can speak the truth and be accepted.   Know I will be praying for you this coming week.   I agree with what Bill said.   My marriage has never been an easy one, but I finally realized that I don't have to let him rob my peace, my confidence and make me feel guilty.   It was only really hurting me and then I turned around in that guilt and enabled him to keep doing it.   Kind of different from your situation, but kind of the same.

I finally got back to training after my big ride.   Ran last night and swam this morning.   Does anyone here work on cadence when running????    Last week, I had a really good run where I thought I had it kind of figured out, but last night when I ran, increasing my cadence only increased my HR!    Any thoughts?

I borrowed a trainer from my friend so I can ride my bike in the living room and work on clipping in and out of the pedals.  From the looks of the weather forecast, I may be riding in my living room all week.   We have 30-40mph gusts from now til Thurs.
