Question Of The Day:

Which is your favorite event?

Which is your least favorite?

Mine
Favorite = biking

Least Favorite = swimming, I guess. I've gotten MUCH better, it's just waiting to get started and the pre race anticipation that build up. Once the swim is over, the rest of the race is a piece of cake.

favorite = swimming (but this biking thing seems pretty cool, too)

least = running (tho we got up to 2 consecutive miles yesterday, so it's getting there)

I was never a runner, but I have come to love it. I have already done one HM this year, have my second this weekend, a third in Sept, and the Marine Corps Marathon to cap off my season on Oct 31st.

Agree with all of this, my swimming has improved but I still worry the most about swimming. Love the biking part.

Biking is probably my least favorite- just because I am the most unfamiliar with it. But if there are no cars and I am not racing then it is the most fun for me.
Swimming causes me anxiety in a race because I am so slow. But I love the water.
Running, well... I am slow but it is probably the easiest.

In my one and only tri I was most worried about the swim. it was a mile in the ocean with big waves. After I got done with that, everything else was easy peasy. My tris coming up are in the mountains so the bike will be my bug bear.

This may be a dumb question, but are tri jerseys designed to swim in?  I've just been going shirtless the whole race.

Hello everyone
I have a bunch of questions to ask all the mentors but would like anyone that wants to go ahead and answer.

1.Did you have a an athletic background before starting this sport? If so what was it?
My answer is yes I was a boxer and a weight lifter

2. What attracted you to this sport?
The every day in and day out intestinal fortitude it takes to do the sport. The real super heros

3. What do you like about the lifestyle?  Dislike?
Like: pushing the limits and finding me.  Dislike: the same as the like(if that makes any sense) and the disconnect from others when they see you going for something that one they cant/ don't believe they/you  should even try it.

4. What motivates you right now?
weight loss and doing the Half Ironman

5. Is there anything you would have like to learn earlier?
     The cost

Not a dumb question. I thought it was going to be really uncomfortable after swimming in mine. It wasn't. I was afraid I would be too cold on the bike. I wasn't. Gotta love technology.

Thanks Bill  I am hoping to find others(like myself -slightly obsessed) that would like to do thier first Half iron next year and meet at the event.   We could correspond throughout the year(off season) on training etc. I really am open to any Half Ironman in the States.

Good question.   For me it changes.  A year ago, biking best, swimming worst.  Today, biking best, running worst.
