Good luck today racers! I am up extremely early this morning to get ready for my first CompuTrainer class. I have never done it before and a few of us have rented out a studio. we get it from 5:30-7:30am. I am looking forward to it. It is really early but at least I know I don't have to get into some cold water! It is official, I am signed up for IMFL for this year. Beyond that I haven't signed up for much. I think once I have a plan I can better figure that out. Happy Saturday everyone!
Let us know what you think of the computrainer! I bet it is a great workout! Congrats on IMFL! I think that means that 3 of us are competing there and Tim is volunteering to register for 2013 if I am correct! Thats great! |

Expert 1694 Illinois | Subject: RE: kenj - motivated triathletes in training - CLOSED Well, I was planning to run ten miles this morning but it's about 9 degrees with wind chill, flurrying and lots of ice on the roads. I think I will meet my training buddy for lunch and then do my long bike this afternoon (Sufferfest video) and keep fingers crossed for better weather tomorrow. Does anyone in this group do long (by long I mean more than 8) mile runs on the dreadmill? I dont' have one at home so have to go to the gym and typically there is a 30 minute limit during peak times for treadmills. |

New user 239 Walterboro | Subject: RE: kenj - motivated triathletes in training - CLOSED Once again I would like to thank everyone for all the good luck wishes. I came in under my goal but I think it could have been a little better. I finished in 2:21:33 at a 10:55 pace. (Goal was 2:30) Felt real good the first 9 or 10 miles and then it kind of went downhill from there. Let me preface this by saying that I'm from the lowcountry only about 45 miles from Charleston and we don't do cold very well. But when I got out of the car it was 29 degrees with a strong wind(which was in my face ALL day) and I almost froze. Just checked the weather report and next Saturday is supposed to highs in the low 70s and low in the 50s. Go figure. I think there was about .5 mile where there wasn't a head wind.(Maybe) I'll post a race report sometime in the next day or so. Training for the HIM and IMFL is never going to stop this year, so I'm back in the pool tomorrow. I hope Paula was a little better prepared for the wind and the cold than I was. |

Body went 5K, feet went more like 10 slip sliding in the blowing snow! Oh well, had some fun running with some friends. To answer your question, I have done 14 as my longest, but I have a pretty good set up with fans and cable TV, etc. plus I don't have to worry about time limits (unless my wife wants to use it!) Extreme Veteran 1700 Normal, Ill. | Subject: RE: kenj - motivated triathletes in training - CLOSED Awesome on IMFL. You rock.
I had a great workout today. 1:45 on the bike with hill repeats indoors on the CT, then kettlebells, then went to the gym and ran 45 mins with negative splits and fartleks, then more kettlebells and hot tub, sauna and home. Really good. Feel very good. I only ate 2400 cals but had them around the workout. I was fueled like crazy. My back is a bit tweaked. I need to go see the bone cruncher. Haven't since IM. Time now. Sunday is 2.5 hours tempo on the bike, then some chores and the PACKERS! |

This is the second week back from Christmas vacation and I definitely notice the improvement in conditioning. Also, I lost 4.2 pounds at my WW weigh in yesterday. Now to keep it up. 4.2 pounds is great! Congratulations!!! x2 |

Member 304 Wilmington NC | Subject: RE: kenj - motivated triathletes in training - CLOSED Thanks for all the well wishes. I had a great first marathon experience. Wesley was right it was cold and windy but i tend to do ok in those conditions since half of my training was similar. I kept my pace more or less for the first 23 then the 30 mph ( thats what it felt like) headwind really kicked in and my pace dropped to 10:30's. I was proud to finish in 4:14:47 averaging 9:39. I dont feel that bad either. One big blood blister and still have my toe nails! |

So far...so good Thinking about teaching spin class during the off season, couple times a week, but still contemplating. Not sure why I feel the need to add something else to my already busy day?!? Anyone ever taught spin? Edited by GoGoGo 2012-01-15 8:31 AM |

Extreme Veteran 1700 Normal, Ill. | Subject: RE: kenj - motivated triathletes in training - CLOSED Robin, loads of races. Have fun! I have three planned. Spring in early June, oly in mid July, half IM in September. May add one half IM and trade an Oly for another half. I'll see. Rode 2.5 hours on the CT at 2 hours @ 75%, 15 mins @ 60% with 100 rpm high cadence and 15 min cool down on Saturday. More kettle bells tonight. Will run a quick 30 mins hard if I can. Rain today and icy here. Will have to get to a track. Bikes 3X Tues/Thurs/Saturday, swim 2X Tuesday/Thursday, run Mon/Wed/Sat and strength/kettlebells Mon/Wed/ and Saturday likely. Have a great week.
