Current weather for my race Sunday.  80 degrees mid morning w/ wind out of the ESE at 8-9 mph.  Tide should be going out however.  Booo.

I have a tattoo of the word breathe on the inside of my wrist, and even that doesn't help  (it's the title of a poem I wrote)

What does tide coming or going do to your swim?  I have only done lake swims.

Since we're swimming towards shore the tide moving out should mean that we're swimming against a bit of a current.

jarvy01 - 2012-04-25 10:12 AM I did a better TT back in early Feb.  I don't know how that happened after all the time I've spent on my bike, but it's depressing.

define better??  What # are you basing the comparison too??

The tide in the Hudson for the NYC Olympic last summer was going out so my time for the .9 miles was 18 minutes and change. It can make a huge difference. The other two Olympics my times were both 25 and change, one a lake and one a bay with no current.

Skipped my ride today, just didn't have the energy.

Got a LT test on my run planned tomorrow so we'll see how that changes my HR zones. Also going to look at that bike I posted about tomorrow evening.

4 x 700m done.  Coffee time for me, too

I had absolutely no mojo in the pool today.  I hadn't been to the pool in a week, so I'm not surprised.  My sinuses were killing me, too, and I left a nice snot trail in lane 2.  Feeling pretty bad for the folks who swam after me.

No swim for me this morning I was exhausted from being up late working on getting ready for the babies one year old b-day party. Pretty bummed I missed it, especially since swimming is we're I struggle. Maybe I can find some time tonight or Friday...and time for coffee as well! Hope everyone has a great day.

So the rest of the day will be spent getting the rig race ready.  Then taking her for a 45 minute spin around the local area w/ a 20 minute tranny run.  Off day tomorrow, but I need to figure out where I can get some OWS time in on Saturday morning.

I'm curious as to people's opinions on Project Rudy as well. All products really. It's tough to judge from pictures online.

Do you have a trainer or do you just ride on the road? If a trainer you should try doing a low intensity recovery ride where you keep your heart rate at the lower edge of zone one as your top effort. If you have to do it outside do the same thing but on the flattest course possible. I feel so much better after I do this vs skipping a workout and usually if I ride the next day I feel my legs are refreshed. It doesn't have to be a long ride and is generally better if it isn't. 30-60 minutes is the sweet spot for me.

So last week was that first week of the volume that I seem to crash at. This week the plan was to add 10% but I'm just not going to get there. I'm probably going to end up losing 5% but I'm actually ok with that because the last two times it was worse. Hopefully next week I can maintain or build on this week. If I can that will be the highest volume for my three week cycle. I definitely feel fatigued but not the crash I've had before. Wish me luck.

Damn Scott, Jen just tried to squish you like a little bug there!!  Just like her avatar, she looks ready to kill!!  Who am I anyway, I still have no clue what swimming is!!  Friday night after work will be my first swim since September 2011.  This should be really interesting.

After you build for 3 weeks like that, do you take a recovery week?

I just do what I'm told to man.  Female coach, wife, 2 daughters, female dog.  I've been beaten into submission.  Maybe my next kid can be a boy and I can convert the pink bedroom upstairs into a nursery/man cave.

I do.  Its bright yellow.  I really like it.  Its super light weight and feels better than other aero helemets I've worn.
