FishrCutB8 - 2007-09-18 10:35 AM I made a shrimp and scallop soup with tomatoes, brown rice and turkey sausage. I made the broth from the shrimp shells, an onion, carrots and Thai fish sauce, with some dill and turmeric...i thought it was good last night, but like most soups, it is even better today.
I love these discussions...I don't even know what some of that is, let alone where you find it at the store or how one prepares it...so funny. =)
Shrimp and scallops -- seafood from the grocery store
Tomatoes--little red vegetables (or fruits, to be more precise)
Brown rice --Uncle Ben's 10 minute brown rice...long-lasting, high-energy carbs...from the grocery store
Turkey sausage-- a litle bit of a specialty item, but pretty common out here. Low fat, high protein, for a growing boy
Shrimp shells from the shrimp.
Onion--vegetable that makes you cry, like Joe. Except onions are more cuddly.
Xarrots -- orange vegetables, long and thin, kind of conical in shape. I get mine from the supermarket
Thai fish sauce--you have to look to find this, but it's worth it. It adds depth and falvor--so good. If you can't find it locally, check the Interwebz.
Dill-- simple spice from the McCormick spice rack
Turmeric--ditto from Dill.
