I haven't done anything but pose in them so far, but I LOVE 'em!! Loooookin gooood!!! Posing is the most important part. So long as you've got that covered you are golden Exactly! It's all about how I look... wait, there's a race going on? I figure the longer I'm out on the course, the longer everyone has to see what I'm wearing. Yup, total poseur. |

Yanti, I hope the puking is kept to a minimum and most of it does not require a clean up... I'm not sure who the inviter was, but I sure hope they warned the invitee about us ahead of time...Welcome Randee! Although if you have already gotten through 9 events, you can surely survive us! I had a long and weird day yesterday and got no workouts in. I was up early for a podiatry appointment, worked, then went to this weird theatrical performance. The tickets were free and I am not kidding when I say it was the strangest thing I have ever seen. It was in the works/maintenance yard at Stanley Park (1000 acre park on the ocean). The 'stage' was one of those cargo containerspainted white, bordered by stacked cargo containers painted white. There was no seating because it was considered audience participation. The first scenes included children being picked out of the audience and being auctioned off as part of the show. There was a scary headmistress scene in which her head was projected onto the cargo containers behind the stage and her arms onto the cargo containers at the side, and she kept saying she was squeezing and hugging us (the audience). Many of the scenes were acted out in the audience, with scary men in trenchcoats and fedoras on contraptions which made them fly. The main character turned into a fish, and we were part of the jury to judge whether she was a 'fish-fish' or a 'not-fish'. We had to put blindfolds on for no less than 5 minutes, to simulate crossing the ocean on a cargo ship... Are you sure you woke up yesterday? |

If we had've been inside of the building, I would have been suspicious that there wasn't something in the ventilation system. Part way through the show, I asked my mom if I felt like I had a fever... |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by TriAya OH CRAP. The (God bless them, truly) church people kidnapped Mutti again. I know exactly what's gonna be happen. It'll be, like, 11pm and I'll have been waiting for hours and start panicking and call the pastor's house and wake his kids up and scream at them WHERE IS MY MOTHER??? Then she'll waltz (stumble-polka in, they and she are German) in totally wasted around 12:30am and puke everywhere. Karma. And the parent becomes the child. Bless you Yanti, I'm glad they got her home safe, happy, and not puking. |

![]() | ![]() Alright Darren, I did a little research last night and found out the context of JD's statement. With that, I still firmly stand by my statement, " If JD has prescribed a 13 mile M pace run, and you want to run it as such and you want to follow the workout, then I think you should do just that. He is very specific about paces. Each type of run is training a different "system." So if you want to follow that correctly, do the workout as M pace. With the race simulation bonus of practicing hydrating etc. But if you don't have the self control to not race the HM, I certainly don't think you should sign up for the race. You won't be doing the workout as prescribed AND if you are wishy-washy about actually racing it, you won't be getting any feedback in terms of using your HM finish time to predict your marathon." If you are wanting to really follow JDs plan, see the bold above. I think you said there was a HM 7 weeks out? If you are wanting to get a better evaluation of fitness, I would say go for that unless you can find one even closer to the M. 10Ks aren't bad in terms of predicting (so long as you are doing the training as prescribed) and you can recover more quickly. In fact, I think JD prefers these shorter races.

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Originally posted by ponderingfox Originally posted by TriAya Originally posted by jmkizer Midweek racer Go Tom!! He should be doing that right about now! GO FOX-AY!!! Youch, this race hurt. It was all the bike, and I wasn't ready for a 20 mile rolling course. The swim was good. I finally felt comfortable in the open water - victory. I only pity-walked once - victory. I might even have a decent average speed on the bike, but that's what did me in. I haven't had a run hurt like that since my first 5k. But I persevered, and my second lap was faster, and I ended up feeling pretty good on the run, though it was death earlier. The race report cometh. Sounds like a tough one. Tough ones are a tool we should all use to improve, so good job! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() OK, a few things and then I'm outta here to get my bike looked at. I think my BB might have another crack in it. I picked a good day to play hooky from work. 1) Adrienne - Do you have a family doctor or someone that you see with any regularity? Establishing a relationship with a doc is one of the things that has helped us get through a major health challenge in our past. Not to get into it too much, but about 22 years ago we went through a long scare that we were completely in the dark about what was going on. Our family doc did a BUNCH of research and pointed us in the right direction. If not for him, we wouldn't have gotten to the specialists that we needed. So, my input is that s medical professional that you are comfortable with is the first step. Once you are comfortable, you will be more apt to listen to him/her about the other stuff. Good Luck. 2) Kate - I truly hope that your whole family is healing and moving in the right direction. I think often of you and yours. 3) TJ - Take care of your teeth, that just sux. |

![]() | ![]() Our friend that recently passed away has a fundraiser pub crawl every year. And despite her passing, we are continuing the tradition. My friend Fio and my partner Jen are graciously printing all the shirts. Anyone ever see what it looks like to print 1000 shirts by hand? It's quite impressive. They were working very hard. Of course, I was only delegated the minor tasks so I just took lots of pictures |

And then, honestly, I want someone who knows at least a little about endurance athletes. I just don't see how anyone has the time to "shop around" and additionally establish a relationship. Ya know? |
