That would be 5% over my max. I have my max set at 188 BPM. Based on my age 36 (almost), and some training runs lsat year at a track.
It only hit 105 just after the finish line as I was running very hard to the end, the last 500 meters I kicked up the pace when I saw how close to 1:39:00 I was.
Any input would be great as I always seem to run at a high HR. I tend to really push myself so I figure thats what it is, to make the time I wanted thats what I had to run at.
Gotcha. I just PM'd you about this but it was before I read this post. Doing the old 220-your age just gives you a ball park number as to your max HR. For some people this will be accurate, for some people it will not. It appears that this formula is underestimating your HR max. A better way to get your zones would be to do LT tests. You should do one for running and one for cycling cuz they will likely be different. The easiest way is to do time trial tests.
1. warm up for 20min or so
2. hit your lap button
3. run as hard as you can maintain for 30 min
4. at 10min into the run hit your lap button again
5. at 30min into the run hit your lap/stop button
look at your avg HR for the last 20min of the time trial. This is your lactate threshold prediction. You can figure all your zones from this number.
I can explain more later but I have to go right now. |
