I am hungry, not pregs. (That condition, sadly, makes me sick as a dog.) And now I am not even hungry (for a little while) because I ate a big spoonful of peanut butter. It was nummy. Omega-3 Smart Balance PB, extra chunky. Maybe I'll go eat another spoonful. I've just never been so hungry. Repeating for all those coming late...I AM JUST HUNGRY. There is no happy news to share. Eating spoonfuls of chunky peanut butter IS happy news Im more of a Nutella girl myself, well if Im eating it by the spoonful (on toast peanut butter cannot be beaten!) |

Artemis - 2008-04-09 9:28 PM I'm hoping they'll help decide if we're going to try to operate based on the symptoms even though we didn't see anything on the CT. At this point, I'm pretty willing to take the risk because the pain is really bad and I can't train. If it's a hernia and they need to operate... how long will the recovery time be? |

I love the long, hard workouts. I love pushing my body beyond what I ever thought was possible. But...It's not all about me. Well triathlons are, but I still am mom to two very active young kids. My friend/training partner/boss needs me for lessons and lifeguard classes and guard shifts. My family comes first, always. I am trying to decide whether speeding up the plan by a year would be better for me to sort of return to a sort of normal life in 2010. Or if I should "stay the course" and hit those milestones (like my first marathon and first century) before IM training. The increase in volume from a HIM to an IM may seem substantial in build weeks but it is not double what you are doing for a HIM - so the question is do you have the time to do one? What/when is the race that you are looking at? From a HIM you are basically looking at around a 1 month recovery period followed by base building and then into a transition/build phase for the race of anywhere between 12-16 (ish) weeks off the base you have already built... I will only ever run a marathong if its in a HIM... and the riding you can build over time so I know you have no worries there! If you seriously want to do it next year I say go for it! Pam, I hear you on the family...they definitely come first...I am doing an HIM this summer, then doing one EVERY summer until my youngest graduates. My IM plan is for 2015. Yeah, I know it sounds a little extreme, and I'll be 50, but after talking to my wife and kids, that's theway it's going to be. Things change, so if it's possible to do it earlier, I'll take it... As far as moving the IM up a year, and then 'getting' back to family life, I don't think it would work for me...I would just want to continue doing IMs. It's like marathoning...you know it takes time...you find ways to work the training into your schedule so it doesn't affect family, and once you figure it out, it becomes somewhat addictive. I figure training for an IM next year with a son in college, a daughter in high school and another son in Middle School just wouldn't be prudent. I'll stick with HIMs for the next several years... Yeah, Sal that's also what I'm afraid of. I loved the 70.3 challenge. That's why I'm doing two this year I don't think I can go that hog wild after IM. Too much stress on the family and the body I'll probably stick to the plan. Marathon 2009 and at least one HIM. IMCDA 2010. Tomorrow I will probably say just hurry up and do the IM because Iim sick of all the training. I have an 11 mile run followed by a 30 mile bike |

I used to jam and dislocate my fingers all the time when I was younger. No more Volley Ball for me. Well, it was straight then. Or rather, it swelled up like a sausage and I couldn't tell if it was straight or not... It hurt a lot. But the pain went away fairly quickly, even though it was still "sausagy".... It took a long time for the swelling to go down. And when it did, that's when I saw it wasn't looking straight. And now, it's not bending/straightening right. But I didn't know that until a couple of days ago, which is when it was less "sausagy." |

They'll do it laproscopically. When I had my appendix out, I was taking walks within a day and was fully back in like 4 weeks or so. Should be pretty similar as long as I don't try to push too much too fast. |

It's either a weakness in the wall or possibly a nick in the abdomen from the appendectomy that's turned into a hole. |
