The times I have in my blog are guesstimates--though the bike split is off my bike computer. I looked on set ups web site this morning and they aren't up. Plus, my daughter has to upload all the pics for me to resize and put in the RR.enders_shadow - 2008-09-07 4:54 PM Hi, Nibbs! Race went well for me - sorry I didn't catch you at the end Jen...I kinda got tired of being there and so I left. (And Sugar Daddy asked me to stop at the outlet mall for something he broke this weekend. Meh.) I had a Dairy Queen mushroom & swiss burger and a banana cream pie blizzard. ![]() Congrats Kristen. And thanks...now I've got a craving for a mushroom and swiss burger... Hey. What is it with these race reports. *I* even got my RR up before you gals. That's NEVER the case...
I guess I get pretty spoiled sometimes. A lot of the races up here, they have a computer on-site. You give them your bib number, and the computer prints out splits... |

Elite![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() wgraves7582 - 2008-09-08 6:20 AM Morning Nibbs. Hope everyone had a drier weekend than we did and we are not even in the path of the TS/Hurricanes! Saturday rain / Sunday - Sunny and 70 and it rains from noon on. Can someone explain to me how we go from Sunny and 70 to rain and 65 in the course of 12 hours? I need some sunlight. I am feeling like it is January around here already. Time for a lunchtime walk! Congrats on the Du ladies. Sounds like you guys had fun and topping it off with DQ is never a bad thing. Alright my question of the day - what does dh stand for and for those of you with daughters - why does 1 family feel the need to invite boys to their daughters 13th party and now my daughter feels that we are obligated to do the same? Just a little insight into me - I told her that the only obligation I have is to acknowledge you are my daughter. Outside of that - what I say goes - Does not work well as they get older I soon found out. So do I go beat up the dad of the other daughter for starting this junk? uh oh.... I had boys at my 13th party... of course that was in the eighties.... there also were only maybe 14 kids but 5 adults... of course... I wasn't the cool kid so the only boys taht showed up were band geeks, mom and dad didn't have to worry much... I'd say one chaperone for every boy that's invited |

Science Nerd![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm tired and slow today. I really don't want to be at work, but I have a meeting with my boss at 2. I figured I should at least show up for that. Probably going to leave right after and take a nap. My bed was way too comfy to get out of this morning. |

I let my daughter have a make-up party on her 13th. That did away with the need to have any boys there.

Frank has so much security on the house and he can't remember the passwords. LOL That's really funny. Our passwords aren't too hard to remember. We don't broadcast (have to type the name of the network to connect) and require a password. That's enough to stop most people from connecting. Especially with all the unsecured networks our neighbors have. I always appreciate those if ours isn't working. |

I will be honest - I first read a make-out party - ROTFLMAO. Then got to the part about no boys - and re-read. Thanks for the idea! What about beating the dad up who started the whole thing? Any ideas there? I let my daughter have a make-up party on her 13th. That did away with the need to have any boys there.

hehe thats funny... for my teenage parties: 13th: 60s/70s party - 4 hours of girls and guys dressed up in a mixture of Grease costumes nad hippy gear dancing, chatting, eating and Im sure there was a bit of kissing (dont remember) but nothing serious as there were always parents around 14th: All girls sleep over with kids party games like pass the parcel 15th: Karaoke party - parents rented a private room at a karaoke place and we sung for several hours, ordered food and giggled a lot - all girls. Dad was the adult in charge but he stayed out in the main area and had a few drinks with various parents which kept him happy and us happy! FWIW - I went to lots of parties in high school with girls and guys... as long as the parents hang around in the house and drop in unannounced regularly with food etc and dont allow closed doors... no one gets up to much trouble! But.... one way to get around it is make it a numbers thing.. if you say you can only have X number of guests that really only allows for the girls then you might solve the problem!!! Then again my Mum hosted what I think was our first guy/girl party at the end of 'middle school' which was basically dancing and stuff with food for a few hours... so I think she started the trend... but the one great thing about my mum she was the kind of parent everyone loved but would never DARE try anything with her around because she always said it like it was... was a good balance really!(I suspect some of the guys had a bit of a crush on my mum at times... she wasnt a sexy mum but she is the kind of person you want to be friends with!) She also had an OPEN DOOR policy... no closed doors to ANY area if there was a mixed party going on! |

Champion![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I just thought of one more thing on the boys situation... if you DO allow it then make it only boys she already hangs out with regularly with as her friends... otherwise she is just asking the boys because they are boys and she wants to look 'cool' (not sure what the word is these days) to her friends... In High school I had a really close group of friends that included a few guys... but I was genuinely close to these guys (more so than some of the girls and NO I wasnt dating them)... in fact Im still good friends with them - so that was a little different... But at 13 a lot of it is you can have a 'crush' on a guy so invite him even though youve never really spoken to him... |

Outside of that - what I say goes - Does not work well as they get older I soon found out. Ummm no... I butted heads with both of my parents a lot as a teenager... and something like that would have REALLY set me off Think of it as a business negotiation... you already know what you want as the desired outcome so you 'discuss' it under that pretense... even though you know that you have the final say... Perhaps give on some of the things that you are prepared to relent on... or at least set some ground rules... (i.e well you can have the party go until midnight instead of 10pm but no boys... or well I think we have room for 10 people... but if its really important to you daughter dearest I can move it up to 15 so at least you dont have to decide not to invite some of the girls.. )
FWIW - teenage girls are difficult, think they know it all and will test your limits.... but if they get themselves into a mess youll still be the first one they call! |
