mchally - 2010-03-10 7:02 PM evening workout is canceled.

My father was diagnosed with Multiple Systems Atrophy 4 year years ago(an amendment to the parkinsons diagnosis he had received 2 years before that).  With this disease basically all the functions that you are born with fail. The only thing that he doesn't loose is his cognitive abilities.  He has been wheel chair bound for the last year and a half and had very limited mobility of his arms, hands and head.  He is on in home hospice and my mom has hired a couple of fellows to help with his care.

He has had a sharp decline over the last couple of weeks and tonight he has taken a turn for the worse.  He may have caught the bug that is going around...

I am sitting in his room with him watching Cash Cab.  My mom called my sister and her husband are on their way to join us (it is a 3.5 hour drive).  There is a good chance that he won't make it through the night.

Edited to add...he just turned 57 years old.

Wow!  Tough news.  Take care of yourself.

So sorry Melissa.   My dad had PSP which was originally diagnosed as Parkinson's.  It was horrible since his body was shutting down but his mind was clear as a bell.  Hang in there sweetie.

I caught my son's cold.   I sure hope I can get better by Sunday so I can do a 10 mile running race.

wgraves7582 - 2010-03-11 10:23 AM Quiet in here!!

Melissa how are you doing?

Tracy - get healthy.  Mine were sick all week and I am hoping I am missing out on it!

My dad had a rough night.  His breathing was labored, but it eased up a bit around 4am.  He seems to have stabilized for now.  My sister and brother in law arrived last night and will probably be staying through the weekend.

My friend is bringing up some cinnabons for my dad and once he leaves I will head to the pool for a swim.

Melissa - I am sooo sorry to hear your father isn't doing well.  It's hard to watch someone you love go through a long slow decline. Especially at a relatively young age. We're praying for you and your family. Hugs from everyone.

Missed my workout last night.  We got a text message as we were leaving our meeting last night that one of the youth that we work with was waiting for us to get home so he could talk to us.  By the time he left, I just didn't have the energy to go running. As it is, my whole family slept through their alarms this morning.  I barely made it to the doctor this morning for my eye exam.  I'm all set to go back to full training again after my surgery and am no longer restricted to under 25 lbs lifting etc.

Now that I think about it, its been an interesting day.  Good news at the doctor but there was also a mix up with my insurance so all the claims were getting denied. Got that straightened out and had to call the hospital and anesthesiologist to let them know its fixed. My wife was also set to cater a wedding tomorrow and they called things off last night. Had to cancel stuff associated with that before we had tons of food that would just go to waste. But now I'm working and things are going good.  Finishing up some programs and might actually get some things done on time, sort of. Initial date was Monday but the final testing is due March 25 so I'm still doing OK. Just one more program to go and it shouldn't be too bad. I should have that done in a couple of days.

Now all I have to do is squeeze in a double workout at lunch and this evening before 7pm. No problem.

onward and upward Paul - thanks for noticing - I didn't.  I already upped the challenge total to 8750.  If Dee allows I will back it off to show 105% since I blew the 8K away about 10 days ago

10K is the next big step in BT life.  The way this month is going I should make it before my tour in June.

Those numbers just seem so far away to me.  But then again 300 seemed a long way off to me last month when I was sitting at 65 and now 300 is right around the corner.

Wow!!!  What a day!!!!  Maybe a short run will help you recharge.  Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.

Seems really quite at the moment.  Hope everyone is OK.

I'm heading out for a lunchtime swim. Another benefit of working from home:  There is a gym close enough that I can squeeze in a lunch workout.
