I've been ignoring the pool and it's going to catch up to me! I know it will.

What's on everyone's schedule today?

I just finished my 2800 yard swim and hopefully I can squeeze in a 4 miler tonight.

Did an hour on the trainer this morning, and gonna go run 3-4 this evening.  First 5am workout of the season for me, and I'm beat.  First masters swimming class tomorrow at 5:30am.  Gotta get used to these early mornings.

My husband has a minor knee injury and has been told to lay off the bike for 6 weeks.  I told him about this "little" swim, and he's serously thinking about it.  He'll decide by the end of the week.  Have ya'll done it before?  Any advice?

I was planning to go for a bike ride but thunderstorm warnings got in the way.  Got in a 5 mile run instead.  I don't mind running in the rain it's actually really relaxing.

I stole this off the awards table last year.  Tongue out   LostSheep missed due to a sick wife, but he's on the hook this year, as well.  I will also probably have a friend come in from Philly to do it.

Simply put, it was the most fun I had last year.  Loved it.  I'm a swimmer at heart, though, and it is by far my best part of tri.  Great atmosphere, great water (a lot fresher water than you might think).  It seemed like the swim took a half hour, it went by so fast (it actually took 3x that).

Advice?  Just swim lots.  Put in a good number of 3-4k swim workouts to get ready for it.   I'd put it in the same category as a half marathon.  Just put in a good bit of volume and you and your hubby will be fine.  It is a completely aerobic event.  My goal last year was to touch sand on one side and touch sand on the other.  It was a great feeling touching sand on the far side.

Does anyone else have horrible allergies?  The pollen is killing me this year.

I've got a 1 hour bike and a 30 minute run on the schedule.  But the only thing consistent with my schedule is change.

So its like the same feeling of making through a car ride when my teenage niece is driving.

If I do IMKY next year, I may seriously consider this race.

Mine are normally pretty bad.  Funny thing is there is something in VA (where I grew up and went to school) that doesn't grow in MD (where I am now) so they haven't been so bad recently.  When I go home in the summer it's pretty bad.

I'm going on a group ride tonight, probably about 20-25 miles.  Should be interesting since it will be the first time on my bike in several months.

In other news, I kinda sorta fired my swim coach. I've been doing these group swim classes at my gym whenever they have one.  The glasses were good because they were regularly schedule do it forced me to get in the pool.  There is one starting tonight but I told her I won't be taking it.  After the last one (where she was pushing breast stroke and giving me a hard time about bi-lateral breathing during sprints) I decided I might be time for something different.  I'm expected my training plan from Jorge by the end of the week and I'm really eager to start that.  I think I'll do better with a tri/race focused training plan.  I may try setting up a few private lessons with her just to make sure I'm not developing any bad habits but I'm also considering looking for a second opinion.

Yep. I'm planning on being there. We're working it in, but it should be fun.

In 2 weeks I'll be done with these weekend classes and the 50hrs/wk work, so the 5am swims won't be so painful. Then I'll start rocking 4000yrd 3x week to get ready.

Couple things, Bama got mne thinkin bout those 6x4's, so I did that workout tonite on the trainer. Was not enjoyable at all. Also, wore a pair of bibs I got off of Bonktown. 1st time in bibs, and I may be hooked. These are Santini's. I love em. Anyone else a bib guy. (or girl)

I lov'em!  I have pair of tri shorts that I wear for bricks or races but normally I wear bibs when I'm riding.  Speaking of which, last night I got my first ride in since... oh, hell, it's been so long I can't remember.  The only thing good about it was that I was back on my bike.  The rest of the ride was brutally painful!

Hilly 52 mile ride at 190 watt average yesterday, 13 mile run today. Legs are screaming. Now, beer and NCAA hoops. Heels gotta big game tomorrow! If Heels don't take it, I'm a bandwagon Butler fan.

Now that I've found my bike I've noticed my pretty beat up.  I have a pair of Pearl Izumi road shoes with a ratchet strap but and the ratchet on one is in pretty bad shape (think it's from when I crashed last summer).  So I'm thinking about getting a new pair of shoes.  What type of bike shoes do you guys wear, road or tri?

These for me.  They fit me pretty well.

Long day here.  Started the day with the duathlon.  Clocked in a 10:25 2.5k (6:43/mile), 35:35 20k  (21.3mph), 10:45 2.5k for a total of 58:35.  7th overall (70(?) total people), 1st in AG.

Stoked about the runs, pissed about the ride.  As punishment I went on a 22 mile afternoon group ride and hit the hills hard.  I need up the bike volume significantly if I want to perform decently in that arena.

Same here - now that Florida is out I'm officially cheering for Butler or VCU.  Or pretty much anyone who can beat the evil that is UNC. ;-)
