Veteran 340 Dallas | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed kevinbe - 2013-01-12 3:51 PM 11/30 down. This was my longest run in quite a while and longest for this training cycle. 11.6 miles at 8:30/mi pace in the suck. The bad thing about snow is when they plow and you have to pick your way through the muck.
I had a training misshap the other day rolling the ankle, then pi$$ed out on my s/b double. I started getting knots (cramps, spasms) in my left calf the other day OOOOUUCCHH! I needed this run to get back on track. I have a 4.15 miler scheduled tomorrow that I may stretch out to a 6.2 miler as punishment for sleeping in on my s/b day. It's either that, or I have to shotgun a warm coors light. What say's the BDAS? run an extra 2 miles, or shotgun a warm coors? great workouts! make sure you are stretching that calf and possible foam rolling. Stay safe you beast! |

How many times as a teacher have I said - There is no such thing as a bad question...Guess none of my students have ever asked if they should shotgun a warm coors! Get your a$$ out there and get it done!

New user 31 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Kevin: definitely run the other two miles – would not wish the alternative on anyone. Matt: you are a brutal. Got a good swim in today and went to the track right after to check on my hip... it is the impact from the landing that hurts. I am not sure what to do about this. I may call the doctor on Monday. At any rate, I got a nice two mile walk around the track in while watching a girl's soccer game, so it wasn't a total loss. I thought I would try to get two workouts in today to make up for the missed workout yesterday. Hit happy hour instead of working out, but I did have a beer. I tried to branch out and have their “beer of the month” Rampage Imperial IPA, but it was only available in 22 oz, so I passed. I was blowing off my workout and that beer would have put me over my calorie allotment, so I just had a pint of the usual. Hope everyone's weekend is going well. |

Matt Matt - I knew there was a reason why we wanted you... As for the six pack of shame - Peyton Manning should be forced to drink warm coors light the entire off season. God, do I hate the Ravens! Yoga tomorrow - it'll be a stretch but I plan on making it |

Elizabeth - Mad props for foregoing the 22 to stay within your calorie count. God knows, there is no such thing as a diet imperial IPA! Sorry to hear that your hip is sore. I battled a sore hip last year. It turned out to be bursitis. If there is a sore spot on the outside of your hip, you might have it. But the fact that it hurts on impact means it could be something else entirely. Definitely see a doctor. Has ice helped? |

I ran 3x, s/b2x. don't forget the rest day. 1 recovery run, 1 intermediate length, and 1 long run. that's a good recipe for success.I am already thinking about my goals for next week guys and I am wondering if you can help me with something.
I would like to start a Run specific training plan that culminates in a half marathon the end of May. I would like to ideally do 3 Runs/ 1-2 Swims/ 1-2 Bikes/ 2 Crossfit classes. Any ideas or plans you have followed like this? I have been looking through plans all day. I am just going to pull the trigger on one soon, but I figured all you crazy pavement pounders may have some good tips!
Thanks Kevin, that sounds good .... now recovery run, I guess is just a short light run? I was kinda thinking something like ... Short "Fartlick'r" run (that word always makes me act like I am in grade school again)...a normal race pace run....and a long slow run.. I am glad to hear we are on the same path, however I fear that I will be a little ways behind you at the finish...you are a running beast!!! |

Wow, way to go on the weight! Foam rollers? Here was my "what do I have in the house already" solution. A number of years ago my wife bought a fancy dancy pampered chef dual sided wood roller. One side is about 3 inches and other maybe 5 inches. It sat in a drawer for years unused. Well now it is my calf roller Who says I don't recycle. |

Member 41 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed My goals have changed, I want to get ready for the Tough Mudder in July, and a 5 k for april. Last year, 5 weeks before the Tough Mudder race in Vermont, I hurt my back, and could not do it. So my goal is to finish that thing, and get down to 200 lbs for it. So I changed my training for that one goal. I know it isn't a triathlon to train for, but was hoping I could stay in the group. |

Expert 4269 | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Alright Folks - It's time to pay the piper. Last week, you created goals for yourself. How'd you do? This is a great place to brag about your accomplishments - but feel free to let us know why you might have fallen short and what you're going to do about it. Plus, if you need support from the group - feel free to ask for it. Here were my goals for the week:

= Check mark, completed, friggin right! Justin - you had 1 hell of a week! 4.5 lbs lost is worth a couple extra beers once you are done with your paleo diet! Not only are you kicking butt - but you are doing an outstanding job of supporting your fellow BDAS members. Today when I crack open a new saison from Mystic brewery (a NE brewery that specializes in saisons) I'm gonna raise my glass to you! |

Veteran 238 New Mexico | Subject: RE: Beer Drinker Appreciation Society - Closed Thanks everyone for the encouragement yesterday! Had a great day and everything went as planned (except the Packers and Donkeys losing; at least they were good games) got to add 18 birds to the list for the year, got all my chores done, ate lots of good pasta and stuffed tomatoes, tried a new beer State Pen Porter not very good, and had plenty of vino! I ended up doing the walk instead of the jog as when I tried to jog the shooting pains in my shins discouraged me. Had a good walk though kept a good 15:00 pace for 5.5 miles. Great day over all. I was a bit leery of this morning's weigh in but got on the scale anyway and came up 0.2 pounds less than yesterday! I guess I should eat pasta and drink wine more often! anyway, here is the score from last week:
