Go Carol Go!!!!! I'm shaking my pink pom poms for you.

Stu, I'm sorry that you were struggling too but I like the idea that we are pulling the negative energy from Carol.  Enjoy the new shoes!  I was in the same situation right after Christmas and so two brand new pair of shoes - both different models and actually both different brands than my prior standby shoes.  It was scary going away from my Brooks but they did help me deal with some of the PF issues before my mary.

Go Carol, go!! Cant wait to hear about the results today.

Did my 2 hours on the trainer, and managed just over 32 miles. Not fast, but steady, and I'll take it. Certainly need to get the undercarriage a bit more used to being in the saddle that long. TMI??

We are all so like minded lol.  I just looked her up too!  Keep going forward Carol!

Good/Bad day today.  I was supposed to be doing a half mary today....instead sitting at home with the kids.  Not happy about that.  However, today my wife played her first field hockey game.  Her team had no subs so she had to play the whole game.  She survived!  She is sore right now but there's no way she'd be able to do this back before she started losing weight.  I'm a super proud hubby...and also excited since I PUSHED her into this by making field hockey equipment her XMAS gift

I'm not sure if I told you all but my surgery is scheduled for this Thursday.  I have revised my goals to hopefully doing a sprint triathlon in August, the Spartan race in August, and *hopefully* a full mary in October/November....then I kick into full gear (God willing) for 2014.

A Good job to everyone for keeping with your training.  For those who are struggling, its okay.  I'd rather struggle like you guys/gals are then not be able to do it!

Yep, spectacular running fail today.  IT band flared up shortly after the half and I knew it was not my day.  Just wanted to finish so pretty much ran a HM and walked a HM today.  But managed to enjoy much of the walk talking to other folks along the same path, and seeing friends as the passed me.  Weather was absoultely spectacular.  And my friend Jackie BQed in her first marathon today...at age 61!

Carol, so sorry about the ITB.  I had the same thing flair up in a race and I had never had ITB issues before.  Sometimes it just doesn't seem fair.  But Baby, you not only powered thru with the ITB issue but it sounds like you made lemonade of those lemons.  I'm so proud of you.  It's easy to keep going when all goes well but it take guts and true grit to go on when things go bad.  You are tough, you are awesome, you did all of your homework, you are a STUD!!!  WTG!

Also, please tell your friend Jackie Congrats!!!!!  Wow, wow, wow, wow.  Wish I could say more but dang, I'm so impressed with anyone, anywhere who attempted their first marathon at 60+.  And then to BQ.  Can't tell you how much I'm smiling right now.  So cool.

Carol, supper bummed that your legs acted up on you.  You were doing great through the first half, on pace for a huge PR... sorry the wheels fell off.  When you get healthy if you do the same mileage with a little more speedwork you will get that PR I am sure.  Way to tough it out, hope the legs recover fast.  You are a great example of perseverence for us all.  Some of us would be tempted to um call it once you had to walk.  Dry run for next race, pacing was very solid first half, especially on a cold recovery.

I second Steve & Ken's comments about you toughing this out and being an inspiration. Way to finish, even when you knew running wasn't going to be what you'd planned. Great job. Hope you are feeling OK this morning!

I'd like to aplogize to the group for the crazy wide/scrolling required screen width. Was a result of

my cut & paste yesterday.

Awe, you guys widened the forum for me .  Just wanted to say thank you for all the well wishes, as well as understanding how a day like yesterday feels.  There were several silver linings that made it worthwhile.  Amazing the conversations you have with complete strangers in that situation.  I'm not too jazzed about the fact that Dr. Google and I think I now have a case of peroneal tendonitis.  Guessing the IT issue changed my gait, so painful outside of rt. foot and some bruising under the ankle that looks like I sprained it but didn't.  Hopefully just a rest/ice/anti-inflammatories thing.  Will catch up more later.  Trying to get my head back above water work wise.

Carol, take care of  yourself and see a doc if RICE doesn't help.  I'm so sorry that things didn't go as planned but you are an amazing person for continuing on and still finding the silver linings.

Jay, I may not be able to post before Thursday but I will be praying for you on Thursday.  Please let us know how it goes for you.  And you are right with your perspective that those of us that are struggling with our workouts (me) should be happy to be able to struggle.  Today the workout was not good but I just tried to be happy that I was out there.

We had total gullywashing weather today and the last few days.  It's been causing major re-scheduling with son's ball games.  If things dry out in the next day, we'll be at baseball every night this week.  That means a lot of early mornings for me to get in a little training before work.

Hubby and I went swimming yesterday.  We shared a lane and that was good for me because I freak with people around me.  Then there was a guy in the lane next to my side that was swimming close to the line as well.  I still tense up but I got better.  Can NOT draft.  Can't.  But trying to at least keep my head in the water and continue on instead of pulling the head out.  I had some moments of "rightness" which was nice.

Ok, all have a great week!

Oh, crunch challenge.

Pam - 56 of 56.

Good afternoon all.  I hope everyone is off to a good week.

Carol, I hope Dr Google helps.  But do not wait too long.  You have to remember that your T1D will affect your recovery.  Be smart.

Pam, we are expecting rain for a couple of days here as well.  At least tomorrow is only a only swimming for me.

I had a pretty bad/slow ride today.  Windy and cold.  Better run this afternoon.
