I just realized something today.

I am totally *not cool*. I'm a big dork.

*grin*

And I'm ok with it!

As you guys know, I'm generally not one to brag.  But I have to brag for a second.  I have the COOLEST "wear around town on the weekend" hat.  Your generic wear around hat has NOTHING on my Rochester Police SCUBA hat!!

Where did I get such a cool and awesome hat?  Let's just say a little gator gave it to me.  So don't go trying to be as cool as me because it might just work.  Let me revel in my coolness for a bit.

Thanks Gator22!!

No problem, my non-dehydrated is forever in debt to you. However, if you would like to be Cool like Dan, PM me and maybe we can deal. Check out our company website at www.crimedawg.com.

Shameless plug done!!

Well if someone asks the question, "Who's racing this weekend?"

I finally get to answer:

ME!

Cool

I'm racing too. A short little sprint called "Tri the Rock" in Rockwall Texas. It doesn't feel like the big opening moment I was hoping for, but I do see it as good practice.

Unbelieveable. Amazing how things can change in an instant. Also amazing how much support this girl has. That's fantastic. I'm so proud of the BT community for their encouragement.

Finished my tri.

Does anyone have the "C is for Cookie" song going through their mind during the latter point of the run or it just me? (I'm not kidding. That song just sort of came out of nowhere..)

I was happy to finish. Yeaa Me!

Ended up with a time of 1:32:17, not sure what the final overall ranking was, but I got 2nd (out of 5!) in the Mountain Bike Division for all males.  Cool

The bike was a longish 14 miles, so that kind of hurt being on the MTB for the overall rankings, but I had the most fun on that.  If I would have been in the 40-44 age group instead of MTB, I would have gotten 6th out of 15.  It would be interesting to see how I would have done on a road bike.

I'll try to do a race report tomorrow.  Nothing too exciting to report, but it was certainly fun - as you've all learned by now!

Congrats to everyone who raced this weekend!

I used to always get "We're not gonna take it" by twisted sister in my head when I ran. I usually get "Welcome to the Jungle" by gnr in my head while biking, ever since watching that NY City bike messenger race video. Sometimes I get "birdhouse in your soul" by they might be giants in my head while running/riding. I guess I'm stuck in the 80s when I workout.

When I'm riding, I sing The Killers songs a lot, and lately Epic by Faith No More.  If I'm doing a slow LSD run, I'll think of some slow songs like Chasing Cars.

Funny though, I had it all lined up in my head of which songs I was going to sing for the race, but never thought of one of them!  I was just focusing on what I was doing and the other bikers that it never crossed my mind!  I think that's a good thing. Smile

Well, at least you have songs that you can sing in your head.  I got a song that I can't stand and always turn when I hear it stuck in my head.  That means that I was singing the first 2 lines of "Hey there Dalilah" over and over again!!  That lasted for about an hour of my run yesterday.

It was VASTLY annoying.

You've entered a whole new realm of dorkdom when you can get on your own nerves..   That said, welcome to the club!

I sing "I like to move it, move it" or "My Humps" when I bike.  Yeah, the biker chick in me must be really ghetto.

By the time I get to the run I am ready to be done so by then I have stopped singing and have to just keep telling myself, "Shut up and race!  You aren't in pain!"

I've posted my race report:

http://www.beginnertriathlete.com/discussion/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=88750&posts=1&start=1

Looking now at the times, I knew I was bad at T1, but I didn't realize I was that bad!  There were only a handful of people slower than me.  You'll see why in the report  - I almost fell over getting my 2nd sock on, and my jersey got stuck to my wet back!  Good thing to practice there!

Turns out that the top guy in the MTB division and I had the exact same time on the bike!  He beat me in the swim by 10 secs, T1 by 1:45 Surprised, T2 by 22 secs, and just under a minute on the run.  So overall, I'm happy with that!

The race report is lengthy, so be warned!  One thing I say at the bottom, and I'll also say it here is that I learned that we should never doubt our abilities!  There were two guys in their early 20's with mountain bikes setting up before the race.  I knew there was only one MTB division, and seeing them, I also knew I had no chance against them.

Well the winner of the mountain bikes was 45 years old, and I was 3 minutes behind him, but then I beat one of the 20 year olds by 6 minutes, and the other by 13 minutes!

So next time, I'll ignore the people around me and just go out and do the best I can, and let the results take care of itself! Smile

We had an 80 year old man complete the triathlon I was in. He came DFL, but he came in. We all cheered to the Rocky theme when he ran in.
