My stomping grounds were in that area. Lived near Brookhurst and Adams. Great place to live! Now that ya got the new goggs, you'll swim great. Just keep working at it. You'll do fine! That said, have you considered joining a masters swim group. Good way to get a workout in and some coaching. Or maybe you just need to find a buddy who's an excellent swimmer to help get you over those first bumps! At anyrate, I think most of us understand your struggle! I know I sure do. I was the exact same way when I started. Then all of a sudden something clicked and I went from only being able to do about 50 yards w/out stopping to 300. Was weird!

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed I should modify that to say I still suck at swimming, but I am better than I used to be. I swim better than most people I see at the gym. 3 months ago I had to side stroke my swims during races. Think I can now do freestyle most of it. Will find out next week end. Arms get tired swimming even a thousand meters. My right shoulder about half way between my neck and point of the shoulder seems to get sore for a couple hours after a swim. Maybe just not in swim shape yet. Am sure thats why the arms are tired. |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed After the trail run today, we ate at Cook's Corner, the Harley Biker hangout on the backwoods roads. Quite the cultural experience. You could say most of them had " Body by Pizza Hut". I think they are more comfortable in bowling alleys than Triathlons. |

Those hills keep getting a little easier each time. Bought new swim mask today Aquashere. Hopefully it won't leak as much. Yes missed you Mila Dear. Someday you will have to share the secret reasons for going to MD and MN. Boytoy rivals? wink. Don't be ridiculous. My boyfriends live in warmer climates and take me on tropical vacations . Secret reason for Maryland... not really a secret. I had a doctor's appointment on Friday afternoon and spent the weekend catching up with friends and family. Secret reason for Minnesota in March... is still a secret . |

O.K. then...just so I DON'T look like a sandbagger, maybe I'll just cut down on my training volume, which is fine and dandy with me, considering work kicked my butt this morning (in at 7, skipping my lunchtime workout...waah...I'll cry myself a river)... I guess I could bump up my swim goal for the benefit of Sincerly, S.B., I mean S.P. Edited by sparco 2008-02-11 11:49 AM |

My right shoulder about half way between my neck and point of the shoulder seems to get sore for a couple hours after a swim. Mine too right now! (although I blame it on fighting to get into the wetsuit and 3 weeks off) Thank goodness the anti-inflammatory dose of advil is 800mg |

Expert 938 Orange County, California | Subject: RE: Milaminute and Sparco's Group - Closed Do any of you use a Garmin 305? I set mine to Auto Multisport today and did a brick work out. But it registered all as one work out, even though I hit the start button at the end of the ride, the transition and run. |

I told the ankle to shut up and ride and run today. So far so good. Seems to be fine unless I try to move it to either side. It only hurt when I tried to unclip, but that's a minor detail. Fortunately, I unclip left first and it's my right ankle so there should be no falling into traffic on account of it. I can't vouch for the rest of my clumsy self, though! |

Allright...go ahead and bump my swim goal up to 20,000 yds...that way if Jim and Brett hit it before I do, I can accuse them of being sandbaggers... |

You must remember, oh sandbagging cheescake lover, that some of us set realistic goals before the month started. Not to mention that some of us also were on the SIR list (Sick, injured, reserve) for a 5 days at the first of the month. That said. I'm confident I'm not sandbagging it... Why should I? I've got a race to get ready for!
