enders_shadow - 2008-09-08 8:22 AM DH = dear/darn husband (except me - my husband is Sugar Daddy or SD) And yes, I say beat the other dad up.

Thanks for the dh - I knew SD - but was struggling with trying to figure out dh except in the bad way and I know our wives would never call us that

I agree - I am going to beat him up for starting this.

I let my daughter have a make-up party on her 13th.  That did away with the need to have any boys there.

hehe thats funny... for my teenage parties:

13th: 60s/70s party - 4 hours of girls and guys dressed up in a mixture of Grease costumes nad hippy gear dancing, chatting, eating and Im sure there was a bit of kissing (dont remember) but nothing serious as there were always parents around

14th: All girls sleep over with kids party games like pass the parcel

15th: Karaoke party - parents rented a private room at a karaoke place and we sung for several hours, ordered food and giggled a lot - all girls. Dad was the adult in charge but he stayed out in the main area and had a few drinks with various parents which kept him happy and us happy!

FWIW - I went to lots of parties in high school with girls and guys... as long as the parents hang around in the house and drop in unannounced regularly with food etc and dont allow closed doors... no one gets up to much trouble!

But.... one way to get around it is make it a numbers thing.. if you say you can only have X number of guests that really only allows for the girls then you might solve the problem!!!

Then again my Mum hosted what I think was our first guy/girl party at the end of 'middle school' which was basically dancing and stuff with food for a few hours... so I think she started the trend... but the one great thing about my mum she was the kind of parent everyone loved but would never DARE try anything with her around because she always said it like it was... was a good balance really!(I suspect some of the guys had a bit of a crush on my mum at times... she wasnt a sexy mum but she is the kind of person you want to be friends with!)

She also had an OPEN DOOR policy... no closed doors to ANY area if there was a mixed party going on!

My girls are 12 and 14 (well, almost 13 and 14)  I have not done a coed party since preschool other than family and we don't live near any cousins.  My younger one would like a coed party this year. I agree with you.  Not happening.

A friend of theirs had a coed party, boys had to leave by 11 PM and girls had sleepover....This family is pretty liberal though. Mom has been married a few times and lives with someone now.  (no offense to being divorced and not intended to slam cohabitating couples here) She also allows teenagers to call her by her first name.  Her kid tried to call me by my name once and I let her know that wasn't her priviledge in my house.  She can call me Mrs Z or she can leave. (end of discussion)

No my parties....I had flavor themes.  One year butterscotch, another chocolate chip....the 18th was rum since it was legal drinking age at the time. (man that ages me)

Makeup...allowed once I got in 7th grade.

^^^ 18 is the legal drinking here! Although for my 18th I was already out of home at Uni and I had a champagne breakfast and after Uni I went to the Winnie the Pooh/Tigger Movie afterwards....not very co-ed though.,.. I was living with 5 other girls at the time!

Well I have been home for 2 hours and she has not brought it up.  I was going to say something but I am waiting for her to young lady up and ask me about it.  If she does that then I just might, but if she plays go between with DW (see I learned something new today) then it will be no.

I will let you know how it plays out.  She still has a couple of weeks

I am really a softy at heart, but not about the boy thing.  And I know all the boys and they understand me (or at least their parents do )

Of course Bill, you are polling a very interesting group regarding boy girl parties.  Look at our avatars, sig lines, smoking posting and you would think we would all be in favor of boy girl parties.  But no, it seems most of us are against it, LOL

Hey Scott, guess what town I was in on Labor Day?

Um, Sacramento?

Yup, we went to the zoo and then the kids took me to the Cheesecake factory for my birthday dinner.  I though of you, but decided you wouldn't really want to spend Labor day with my grandkids.

Aw, it would've been OK. I can't honestly tell you what we doing on Labor Day.

I didn't know we would be driving to Sacramento until the night before, so did not really have a chance to connect up.  We will be heading out there again in January when the 4th grandbaby arrives, so maybe we can connect up then.

Hard part is the awesome posts other Nibbs have done at major posting celebrations.  Now it's something we all have to live up to or aspire to or something. I'm coming closer to 3000 every day and getting askeerd I won't have any monumental things to say.  (either that or it will slip by me and my 300oth will be in a useless thread like a CoJ poll or something)
