EVIL mates-  I was away for the weekend - but I ran, on the beach.  Do I get extra points to slogging through the sand?  It was about 1/3 of my run.  Super slow, but what a workout!  I've updated the spreadsheet for those missing miles at last count and am now off for another few miles!

-Cynthia

I was on a business trip in Puerto Rico once (yeah, I know...tough life!) and the only running I got that week was a couple of runs on the beach (Yeah, a REALLY tough life!) which were super super slow. The day after I returned, I ran a 10k in a PR that still stands to this day.

Well that was a totally EVIL race. Geez. Ok, now that you got every possible thing to go wrong out of the way, next race is going to be 100x better.

Is that a QR wetsuit, with the breakaway zipper? I got one - which got stuck once, but otherwise I like it.

LOL - not breakway zippers on purpose...  I suppose I just don't know my own strength and yanked on it too hard...

Hey All ~ I hope everyone had a fabulous weekend!!  I went to update the spreadsheet and see that we are in 3rd...I KNOW we can change that!   With that being said, my update included my 10 mile run on Sunday and I gotta say, I am totally stoked.  I finished it in 1:32:01 so I'm thinking that my goal of a 2hr 1/2 marathon in 4 weeks isn't such an outlandish goal!!

So when I first read this I read it as 2 1/2 hr marathon not 2 hr 1/2 marathon...  I was thinking that would be like world class, then I read it right and think that you should have no problems with your goal as as stated

Hey there, Reapers!  What's shaking?  I've been crazy busy the past few days and have had precious little  BT time.  But I have had some running time.  Got in some good miles last week and have about 20 more miles on the schedule for this week.  Sometime during my run tomorrow, my total milage for 2009 will exceed my total milage for 2008.  It's hard to believe that I've run over 500 miles this year!  I wonder if I'll ever get any faster?

Nice deal!

Dee, you still can't grasp the fact that I <3 being tasered.  It's like putting your tongue on 1000 9v battery leads all at once.  It makes you feel alive, sure in a painful way, but that's half the fun.  The other half of the fun is that it makes my chest hair look like Dr J's afro.

Well, you like to be tasered. And I like to taser. Sounds like a plan.

When's the Krispy Kreme Challenge this year?

(For those not familiar with the Krispy Kreme Challenge --> You run 2 miles, eat 12 Krispy Kreme donuts, then run 2 more miles -- All in under 1 hour. There's no added time penalty for puking.)

(Yes, the idea *was* dreamed up by college students. And your point? )

Good morning E.V.I.L. Running Reapers! I ran 10 miles yesterday as part of a du, and I am right on schedule for the month, but I didn't update the spreadsheet until about 11 last night.

My race yesterday was great! 2nd place in my AG (M50-54), so I got my first hardware. OK, so there were only 4 or 5 in my AG, but still I had a great race and beat the goals I had for myself. I explained to my wife that it's a small race because most people are too intimidated to try it because it's so hilly with over 1000 ft of climbing on the 5 mile run, and over 3000 ft. of climbing on the 29 mile bike. She was still.............unimpressed The best part was the post race food. Beer and chili. Perfect way to end a hard day.

Congratulations!!!!

I think your wife should join you next year. I'll bet she'll have more appreciation for the race after that.

Impressive climbing there!

Why does the spreadsheet say ZERO PERCENT for you?

You haven't run yet this month?

I'm gonna get Barqhead to hold you down while I cattle prod you. Wait, you'd probably like that too much. Nevermind. I'll think of a different evil plan for you.

NOBODY EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!!!!!

Ha! One of my all time favorites. In fact, I did a high school report on the Spanish Inquisition simply because of that episode. Classic.

Good morning EVIL Reapers!  I'm finally back from COLD Colorado, and need to settle back into my running routine.  Got up this morning to go out, and it was just so dark that it gave me the creeps.  I didn't go!  But that's ok -- tonight is Torture Dan night so I'll get some running in then...

The strangest thing though... I didn't run in the dark because last week I was talking with some neighbors, and they were convinced that the bears have come back to our neighborhood (trash cans upside down and trash bags pulled apart).  I just don't want to encounter any bears in the dark!  So I went out to the mailbox to get the newspaper, and the front page story (with pictures!) was about how many bear sightings there have been lately.  I think I made the right decision.   But I have to come up with a plan for running until the end of daylight savings time.  I think I'll start running on base until then...

The race was in February of this year, so I'm thinking it will be in the early part of next year as well.  They still don't have any registration info for 2010 though.  I've even emailed the people, and didn't get any response.  As long as they get the registration stuff sorted out soon, and I have the time to request time off from work, I'll be there.  It's a 4 hour trip or so from the general G'ville area, but I have friends I'll stay with.

edit: Apparently the info for the 2010 race will be posted in January.  That cuts it close for me to get PTO from work.  Way too close.  I might not be able to make it now, since we schedule way in advance.  We're already scheduling through Christmas, so a Feb race not announced until Jan really cramps my ability to request time off.  Bummer.

You're driving 4 hours each way for a dozen donuts???? I can see it if it was a beer-mile competition, but not for a dozen artery clogging grenades. That's like an Ironman's worth of calories there. I have one donut and I feel like heading straight to the emergency room. Can't imagine 12.

He's not driving 4 hrs each way for a dozen donuts. He's driving it for the TOTAL EXPERIENCE. There's the initial run, followed by choking down 12 donuts, followed by attempting NOT to puke on the return run, while dodging puddles of puke left by other competitors, and of course, the overall craziness of 3000 competitors, many of whom are crazy-college students still hungover from the party the night before.

Yep. I gotta believe he's going for the total package.

Of course, he's already doing the Reindeer Run in December. It involves a 5K and eating a stack of pancakes....
