Artemis - 2011-10-04 5:13 PM I went running today with A.  Got some weird looks.  Guess people don't expect to see a fairly pregnant woman out running with her husband?

Wait! WHAT?!  YOU'RE PREGGIE??!!  WHERE WAS THIS ANNOUNCEMENT THAT I MISSED???

CONGRATULATIONS, BADGER JEN!!

Must have gotten lost in all the pages and pages of Nibbs posts. Hm. Wait.... Maybe not. We've been on this birthday thread for, like, 'ever.' OK. Maybe you just haven't been visiting Nibbs as often as you should.... :P (Yes, I am a troublemaker. Your point?)

Boy, you sure know how to hurt a guy.

Seriously, we've been on this same thread for almost a year! We are becoming posting slackers.

I don't wear slacks.

Hm. Do I want to ask? Hm. No, I don't want to ask.

Symbicort, Omnaris (recent switch from Flonase that wasn't working), alavert or claritin, zyrtec and singulair ....yes, really.....all of them.  Prilosec has some histamine blocking properties so that's on my med list too.  And the allergy shots that are leaving knots in my deltoids......I have my own nebulizer now.......and proventil for rescue.

Yes, all thei junk for asthma makes me feel really OLD & SICK.

Are any of these a steroid-based med?  I've heard that a steroid-type may help subside the asthma issues.

My youngest sister, who is older than me, had full-blown asthma back in the 60's and 70's and had very severe attacks.  I remember that my Mom had to give her "suppositories".  She's been in remission since the early '80s, but always had to carry an inhaler.

Symbicort and OPmnaris are steroid based inhalers.  Singulair is a leukotrin inhibitor and the others are antihistamines or rescue inhaler....

Thanks!

I'm on Symbicort and Flonase. Still taking the older generation of antihistamines & decongestants, since some of the others (especially Claritin) give me weird side effects. I get really spacey, and dizzy.... Maybe I'll ask about one of these others....

I had good results with Serevent, but my doctor won't let me take it anymore.

Used to get allergy shots. May have to start again. Ew. *Sigh*

Have albuterol for rescue, and epi-pens in case of allergic reactions..... But fortunately, I do not have my own nebulizer. (Although at this point, the doctor's office sees me coming and gets their ready.)

Add to the mix, a thyroid that's dead, gluten intolerance, and a few other health issues. Forget health care insurance, I think I need my own pharmacy.

Symbicort and Flonase are steroids.

Suppositories for asthma? Hm. Isn't that the wrong end????

I have an albuterol rescue inhaler that I'm supposed to carry. (And an epi pen in case of severe allergic reaction.)

Yes, this was back in the late '60's/early '70's - different methods/doctors/etc., but, after doing a Google search, it looks like suppositories are still used but not as common (progesterone is one type mentioned).

My guess is the progestrone would be used as a smooth muscle relaxant......they use iv magnesium in the ER for that reason.  Also have seen bad asthmatics (on vents) with a combination of helium and oxygen cause the helium helps the oxygen get into the cells.

Advair 250/50.  I bump that up to the 500/100 dose when I have a cold or other respiratory infection.  Oh, and Zyrtec.  Plus albuterol before I go out to run.

Tinky has a poll posted to pick the name of her future book.

I voted for "Just me, Carol Ann, and a bunch of Rolos."

I'm betting she'll never write a book with that title.

She's skeered of Carol Ann.

(And now, I'm going to let her know that I've talked about here on Nibbs. LOL)

I didn't vote, but I did leave a comment.

I will think about a real title.

D001 - 2011-10-13 9:12 PM Tinky has a poll posted to pick the name of her future book. I voted for "Just me, Carol Ann, and a bunch of Rolos." I'm betting she'll never write a book with that title. She's skeered of Carol Ann. (And now, I'm going to let her know that I've talked about here on Nibbs. LOL)

gee whiz - you could at least post a link to the poll if you're going to talk about it

Decisions...Decisions...

Note to everyone who visits Tinky's poll --- Vote for "Carol Ann, the novel"!!!!!!!!!!

lol!

i'll have to make sure it includes a chapter on the proper use of tasers

Ooo. Me me me, pick me. I wanna write that chapter!

Carol Ann isn't so good with a taser. Maybe because she doesn't have any arms.... LOL
