I was working yesterday and ended up getting an extra half mile run in the snow!  A subject decided to get out a gun and point it at everybody in his house.  We showed up and the person ran out the front door.  The chase was on !  We ran through back yards, over fences and railroad tracks.  We went for approx. a half mile and the subject (20 plus years younger) finally fell to the ground in exhaustion....lol.  I thought to myself "Damn, I hadn't even broken a sweat yet!".  One of the many reason that I TRI.

I'm curious? Can I add a section under other sports in the log?           Chasing a subject with gun.

Yikes!  I'd rather chase lizards and horny toads than subjects with guns!   Thank God there are people out there like you that prefer the latter!  :-)

I don't think that particular sport will catch on in the running community.  Glad it ended well.

Last year was my first winter of doing all my long runs outside all winter. These were done on a Sat or Sun, around 10 am or so. But I had yet to do an early am run, in the dark, in the snow....until this morning.    I've run in the early am in the dark before, but always in nice weather.  I was worried about the combination of cold, dark, uneven surface etc.  Three of us went out at 6 am with our head lamps.  Temps around 20.  Snowy surface on a paved forest trail.  It was fantastic!!!  Loved it!  And it was a workout.  Even though our pace was slower, probably averaged around a 10 min mile, it was like running hills because of the snow.  Already my legs are feeling it.  Great way to start the day.

Absolutely!  We got about 3" of fresh snow the morning I did the Tecumseh trail marathon!  (But I'm way slower than 10-minute-miles on the trails).

zee744 - 2011-01-13 10:40 AM So this is what happens when there's a blizzard in NY...3 more pages to the thread! Got hit with more than a foot of snow here. No work yesterday and a terrible internet connection all day. Was able to get into our group forum, type a comment, then my connection said "nah, I don't feel like sending your message."

Glad to see everyone is doing well so far. Keep it up!

I was out for about 1 1/2 hrs shoveling yesterday and got in a short bike before I was exhausted. Today is my typical lunch run and a bike tonight with some "Hard Core" as well (which if you haven't tried I would suggest, its a great core workout on BT, just search "hard core" in the articles).

Got only about 3-4 in here... But heading up to Holiday Valley next weekend so I hope there still some left

You might provide a translation.

Good job getting the swim in today.  Really, once you can swim 1000 meters, getting to 3900 meters isn't much more difficult.

Thanks!  That's what I figured, but I'm rarely one to pass up a learning opportunity.   Is the reference to throwing something in a dustbin, or some other "bin" reference?

See YOUR sig!!! Don't give up!

When I need motivation I like going to the gym and looking at all the meatheads walking around like they can't scratch their own @ss. Makes me feel good I don't have to pay someone to do it for me. Also like their chicken legs.

Thank you everyone for all of the kudo's on my swim yesterday.  I really appreciate it.  You're awesome! Laughing

FYI ... I've down loaded Podrunner & tried it tonight on my run, and I must say I TOTALLY LOVE IT!!!!

I also wanted to let you know that I'm enjoying a fruit smoothie right now as I'm writing this. The more fruit that you put in the more it will help ward of the munchies.  The milk and fruit will help keep you full.  ( Weight Watcher Tip ) I'm thinking that I could enjoy one of these a day. Smile

I hope you all have a rockin' good workouts this week, stay strong & make it happen!!

Maria

I love love love Podrunner!  It's almost the non-music music solution, if that makes sense.  Whenever I run with it I just go off into la la land and my feet just naturally fall into rhythm.  I run in the desert though, so there are no cars, bikes, small children in my la la land that I could accidentally crash into.  Just some sagebrush and an occassional herd of antelope.  Play around with all the different bpms...it's great.

I need to check out the pod runner, eh?  And what about scorpions and rattlers.  They would make me go faster.

They'd make me go s-l-o-w-e-r!  1)  so I don't step on them, 2) because I'd want to check them out.

Mechanincal Engineer & Snake Lover.... nerd  (probably likes to wear a bowtie to church)  Oh look, I just figured out the sarcasm font too.

Tonight I swam another 1000 yards. Surprised  I felt like I swallowed half the pool.  Lots of coughing tonight.  The life guard said, " Swallow some water?"

I said, " Yeah, I just learned how to swim recently. " She said, " Your doing good, swimming isn't as easy as people think it is."

I thought, lady you have no clue!! I didn't tell her that I was learning THREE sports at the same time.  Talk about not as easy as people think.

ONLY THE STRONG SURVIVE!!!  ** Stay strong McFuzzies **

1200 yards in the pool this morning, drills and swimming.  90 mins on the trainer tonight.  3 sets of 10 minutes @ 80, 85 and 90% @ 50-60 rpms with 7 mins of 50% @ 100 plus rpms in between.  Really good workouts today.

Motivation...I never find it talking to anyone but me...  goals, meditation, asking who am I and what do I want out of life?  Answers only I can give me.  Too hard to get out of bed at 4 twice a week to travel in zero temps to get in cold water and bust my @ss.   The will comes from within.

A race date makes it real for me.  They keep getting closer.  Ready or not, here they come. I want to be ready.  Less pain that way.

Also, when motivation is low I have to ask myself other real questions.  Am I sleeping enough.  Am I overtraining?  Am I taking at least one complete rest day a week.  Do I have a cold coming on.  Am I getting enough vitamins....C and D are important right about now.
