New user ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() krazytallchick - 2012-08-15 8:53 AM Hi Everyone! Sorry I have been MIA these last few days with all the stress that I am experiencing I feel it is better to stay off the websites. All parties have officially agreed to the terms of our house selling. We move in October and we still have to find a place to live. That will be on our agenda in September. I know I am tapering but I sure as heck don't feel like it as I feel like I am going a mile a minute getting everything done that I have been putting off for some time. Hopefully this weekend I can start thinking and gathering things for the special needs bags. The hubby is still trying to figure out how to make the Garmin GTU notify everyone where I am without him having to email everyone. Not quite sure he has that figured out. Stay tuned. Last weekend, I had a terrible bike ride. I was on a computrainer riding part of the Louisville route and I am hoping/praying that they had the resistance on my bike way too high as I was barely moving. My legs were tired as all get out after riding for 3 hours and I barely made one loop of the ride. When I actually rode the route I was going faster then what I did on the computrainer. I can't believe the day is almost here! Getting very excited for you, Kathy! You're gonna be great! And congrats on selling the house! That can be very stressful, on top of training. Now that is checked off the list and next up is IM!! I can tell you that computrainer is harder than the real course. You'll be fine for IMKY |

New user ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I'm a little late but...Welcome to the group, Simone! You're going to find this group to be very encouraging and supportive Tim - as Carl put it so well "the hay is in the barn"...although would it be possible for you to get in a 2 hour ride, perhaps before the kids wake up on Saturday? Regardless, you are amazing! I seriously don't know how I'd be able to juggle a family, a band, AND training. You are a MACHINE, man! Ok, so back to what I was saying before...if it's not possible to do any bike riding on Saturday, I don't see how adding some volume during the week and taking Saturday off would hurt. Your fitness is there and taking 1 day off is not going to do any damage. Heck, it'll probably be good for you! Good luck with everything today/tonight and this weekend! So far this week training has been going well (minus the last 4 miles of my run in a thunderstorm yesterday!) and I'm heading back up to Madison tonight for a final race rehearsal training weekend. Tomorrow will be Madison Open Water Swim (signed up for the 1.2mi), 112 bike, followed by 60min run. Then Sunday I'll do one loop of the run course and then it's TAPER TIME!!! Hopefully I don't go out of my mind the next couple weeks with the volume so drastically reduced. Hope everyone has a great weekend! |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Tim, you should be fine not getting that 4 hour ride in. I know what you mean by being tired. That first week of tapering I slept in every day and still went to bed early. This week my body is rested enough that I am back at waking up at my normal training times. Sarah, good luck with your training this weekend. Remember at this point it is best to play it safe and get to the start line healthy. I can't believe the number of people that were talking about their bike crashes on their last week before tapering. Don't do anything silly. I am so glad that I had other things to distract me this week as I have yet to start getting things together and that was probably best for me. Good luck with your training this weekend everyone! |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Team. I hope this note finds everyone well going into the weekend. I just wanted to let everyone know where I have been this past 3 days. When I got home I immediately got involved with a big professional golf event happening this week in my home town. As you may remember, I am a Golf Professional here in the area (KCGOLF lol) and have been part of a committee in my home town for the past year that is now hosting a Canadian Professional Golf Tour Event. Well - I tried to set myself up to play a minimal role upon my return from NYC but that has not proven to be the case. Serveral items needed to be paid attention to and I am helping in more than just an advisory role. The head Professional at the club that is hosting is a former employee and student of mine and he needed more of my help than he anticipated. This has meant long days with the event - taking care of details - since Wednesday - sun up to sun down. Fun, but tiring, especially after an Ironman. Therefore I have not been able to put my race report together or post as much as I feel I should. With that being said - I will be back on here in the next couple of days to catch up, support, encourage and chat about the exciting things we are all doing in the next few weeks. I will tell you this - I looked at my training log and it makes me sad not to have anything in it I am going to try to get a swim in tomorrow maybe but if not - once this blister on the bottom of my right foot heels - I want to run again and soon. FYI - I booked my IM tattoo - am getting it on Friday August 31. Hope you like it. This is not my leg but it is the tattoo I am going to be sporting on my left calf KC Edited by kcgolf 2012-08-17 5:23 PM (kctat2.jpg) Attachments ---------------- kctat2.jpg (10KB - 8 downloads) |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hi Team, hope everyone is waking up to a great weekend, I had a better day today, no sign of sickness, so it must have been food related, managed to catch up on my run and swim that I missed yesterday and was hoping I could squeeze a 75 min bike in also, but I am totalled. I dunno about you guys, but swimming just totally wipes me out, which is hardly convenient considering its the first leg of any event! KC - LOVE the ink design my friend!! that is going to look super cool when its done, I really love the characters that represent the different disciplines. Wear it with pride! Brian & Tim - many thanks for the input guys, I'm definitely swaying towards the Polar, the watch I'm looking at syncs with the footpod and gps sensors which I can buy later. At the moment I just want to get my HR zones sorted out. I checked the specs and it does everything I need and is waterproof to 30m so I can use it in the pool too. Decided I'm going to do the LT tests next week for the bike and run. I'll do them at the gym where the environment is a bit more controlled, I can always manage to push myself better on the treadmill. That link you sent me was great Tim, for some reason the other tests I had read about were far more complicated. Sarah - thanks for the warm welcome, I am really loving being part of the team. That reminds me also team, those of you who have IM's coming up, you may have read curteosy of KC that I have all of the IM Kona telecasts on DVD from 1991-2011. I'm more than happy to burn off a copy for each of you and send them over so you can keep the mind motivated through taper, bare in mind they may take about 10-14 days to get there from down under. Anyway if you are interested you can message me through BT or find me on facebook here @simobyrne. Cheers |

Extreme Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() KC, love the design, I like it when one includes all 3 events. Simone I would love to have copies of the World Champion Ironman. Let me get through next week and I will send you a note. Went swimming in a lake today for a short swim, and I am just terrible at keeping a straight line. I was just swimming back and forth and I couldn't hold a straight line for the life of me. I thought I was but when watching the video that the hubby did of me, it showed a different story. I am currently in a dilemma, and need your opinion. I have a tracking device very similar to what KC had with the Myathlete tracker, I am wondering where I should put it. I was planning on putting it in my shirt pocket during T1 but was thinking if I had enough time I would like to change clothes during T2 and I can see me forgetting the tracker. So today I practice biking in my ifitness race belt that had a nice size pocket that I could just put it in there and forget about it but it is a little bit bigger then what I want or need. So should I just go with the bigger belt and just forget about everything or just put it in the shirt and not worry about changing clothes? |

Veteran ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Good morning Team I hope everyone is doing well with training, health, family, life, etc. I've had a killer day today to start the week. It was raining again, so I decided to head to the gym for an indoor session. I wanted to do a treadmill run today, cause I knew I'd push myself to keep up or else get tossed off the back. I managed to do an 8km run in 60 mins (which is a good pace for me) and then jumped on the gym trainer for a 30km ride to catch up on the long ride I missed on Saturday. Then it was off to the pool for 1700m of intervals. Just got home and I am totally shagged! About to whip up some pasta for dinner after a hot shower and then its off to bed. Got a big day down the coast tomorrow and want to get an early start. For those of you who don't know, photography is my other obsession and it's been quite a few months since I've had the black brick out, so I'm hoping to head down to one of my favourite spots tomorrow and catch the sunset, weather permitting of course. Just need to get in a quick ride in the morning before I head off. Anyway team, I hope you all have a splendid week! RFP all the way!!! |

I am surprised they did not send a belt that has a holder for it. That is what i used last year. It would be tough to try to remember to swich it over to a different location at T2, your mind may not be thinking clearly by then. I would wear the belt and give yourself the option to change shirts at T2. It will make the run more comfortable for you. Make sure to let us know your bib # and tracker info. I will be down there volunteering on the bike course in the am. And looking for you at the finish! |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Kathy - don't worry about the swimming straight thing -nothing you can do about it now plus on race day you will have plenty of people to help guide you. How about you put a post it note or something on your clothes in T2 so that if you do decide to change there will be a reminder stuck right on your clothes to grab your GPS tracker? krazytallchick - 2012-08-18 7:53 PM Went swimming in a lake today for a short swim, and I am just terrible at keeping a straight line. Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Brian - I think Kathy has here own Garmin tracking unit not the myathletelive one so she has to attach it to her own race belt. I wonder if myathlete live sells those belts though cause they are nice - something you might want to look into Kathy? Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Hey Team. Just wanted to check in and say hello. Kathy- like Tim says, don't worry about the straight line - lots of people to help guide you along. I am brutal at staying straight but using others around me to help as a guide worked for sure. Brian - I am getting to Louisville on Thursday afternoon. I will be at the swim practice and in the men's tent in the morning. I am looking forward to seeing you again. Team - still working on race report but I had a busy week and will get to it. Be safe everyone. KC |

I am sure you are going to pack and re-pack a bunch this week. Thanks for your bib #, I will be following you on race day. I will be out on the bike course as you begin, and plan on getting into the transition area to try to catch the bike for a couple of friends. Then I will be out by the bridge and on the run course and of course - 4th St. yelling for you. Have fun at the Underwear Run. a scary shot from last year's run... KTC - we'll be tracking you and sending good vibes your way. Glad paul is going to be updating us too! You're going to nail this. |

Good luck for Sunday Kathy, I have no doubt you will do AWESOME!!! Just try not to expend too much energy stressing before the race, what will be will be, and you will be an Ironman come Sunday night! Have fun in the underpants race too. |

Expert ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() KC - nice bike. I agree with Deb your bike shop loves you haha. Glad to see you are getting back out there and feeling good on the bike. Have a safe trip to Louisville. Kathy - You are going to do awesome this weekend. Enjoy it and take it all in and reap the rewards of your hard work this year. Kind of a weird week for me as I still have some training to do but I am all out of sorts with my pool being closed for annual maintenance. They have the outdoor pool open for lap swim from 7am-10am but that is really pushing my limits with getting into work. I got 2500 in this morning and felt great. Gonna be a short week volume wise but will have a good week next week. then its race week |

So, that is mile 35 and 65. I would imagine I will see you at least 1 time, maybe 2 times before I head to the bike transition area. Rest up! see you down there. |
