Teejaay - 2012-10-30 1:39 PM Amazon.com has "recommended" a very very very odd book for me. Where the heck do they pull their info such a recommendation?

From your past purchases so what have you been reading?

And what was the recommended book?

Firstly...I've only downloaded/purchased 2 books from Amazon ...ever. 1) Room and 2) Whole 30 Challenge. So why the "Ultimate Guide to Fellatio" popped up I shall never know.

They track everything you look at on their site whether you buy it or not

Whatever should I have looked at that would even relate to that? I've no need for such a book. I could write that book. All I've been looking at in the last 6 months are speed ropes and pull up bars. And iPhone cases.

They figure with getting into shape, you will be getting more action?

I have both. Colt King Cobra .357 fits my hand better than any of the rugers I have tried.  Rugars center of balance is in it's barrell more than the Colt's and it tends to cause me to shoot low.

It depends on what it's primary purpose is.  I would say if you want to teach your kids to shoot I would go with the .357 first and teach them to shoot with .38s.  The shotgun is a bit much for kids even with lighter rounds and it's enough like shooting a rifle that it translates well when the get older.

Get a Saiga.

I'm also just as happy as can be shooting a Glock 9mm or .45.  Probably a 9mm more if you want to shoot for a long time.  .45 and .357 can get tireing.

I still contimplete getting purchasing the Glock and a .22 conversion kit so I can plink away for hours for just pennies a round.

Just get a ruger .22 they are not that expensive.

I was never a fan of the early glocks, too light a round and some performence issues.  I do believe they have come a long way since then but I still tend to see the 9mm as a spray and pray round.

Crazy thing is, some people could actually stand to read it.

But like most of the things in that catagory.  I figure enthusiasm and effort trump technique many times.  AND nothing like practical experience.

The good thing about the 9 mm is that on top of teaching your kids to shoot, it's an entry into learning the metric system.

I already have a CZ 75B in 9mm and .22 I just want a shotgun or revolver for fun shooting.

Kate I already have a youth .22 rifles and my .22 CZ to teach my kids with. From there I have a scoped 10/22 and Rem 512 that are a bit bigger than the youth. From there I have the AR-15 and my 9mm for the kids to practice with when they are older.

I'd go with a shotgun...a nice Remington or Mossberg.

Fun to shoot....and great for home protection too.

Remember kids....you use your pistol to fight your way to get to your rifle(s).

That's terrible!

I'd get the shot gun.  And some rock salt or rubber-pellet rounds so you can have it as a home defense weapon.  (rock salt doesn't go through dry wall, but it'll nicely pepper someone's face).

357 ammo costs too much.

I know you have taught your kids to shoot rifles I was referring to teaching them to shoot a pistol.  I would still go with the .357 either way.

Lots of first time buyers look at the Desert Eagle 0.50 in the movies and think "that's the gun I want".

I looked into ammo for that.  If you don't mine throwing $2.00 a round down range every time you pull the trigger, go for it.  That's an expensive hobby.  20 rounds is as much as a round of golf.
