Haha. Well...if you REALLY think you're awesome then maybe you shouldn't say it. But if you're just being funny isn't it okay? But if it's not okay for YOU then it isn't okay for you. That is true...=-)
Well, here's the thing... i know what my musical faults are better than almost anyone
(those who know better are, say, professionals
). People tell me i'm wonderful, and i don't know what to say. i WANT to say, "Well, did you hear how out of tune i was during the Gloria? And how i completely botched the rhythm in the preparation song? And how my bowing was so uneven?" And then that sounds like i'm begging for people to tell me that, no, i'm awesome. i know objectively that i'm not, but... i'll never convince anyone
(save my teacher
) of that. i've had conversations like this before... "I just wanted to tell you that i loved the violin." "Thanks!" "It sounded so good." "Aw, thank you!" "It really added a nice touch." "Thanks!" What is there to say?
There's not a whole lot else to say. I used to feel the same way when I played, especially in church. It's frustrating.
