I want something that will survive AZT and possible GDR!!  That is key to all things!!!

Hardtail!  With pack weight for those races, I'm thinking hardtail.  Probably going to want something stouter like an all mountain build too componentry.  I definately won't be going after the AZT or Colorado with my race stuff.

Podium.  Nope! I'm just too lazy to haul around the extra weight!

Saw your results bud - sorry you are fast!!!!

So my felt 29'er is good.  Are you contemplating racks?  I have seen them from Old Man Mountain or something like that for disc brake mtn bikes!!!  Any knowledge there?

If you have a Felt 29er, I think I would definately stay with that.  Spend the money on components, gear, travel, etc.

kimk - 2010-04-06 7:40 AM Again I am up early when I don't have to be! What is this? No next week when the kids are back at school I won't be able to drag my arse out of bed! It is storming pretty good here...lots of lightning,  rain, rain go away because Kim has a run to do today! I was not able to ride to work yesterday like I wanted to but I did get a swim in. I'll get a trainer ride in today and hoping for a run! Then speaking of baseball...I am going to the game tonight with some friends!
Have a good day A TEAM!

Morning Kim - and not to rain "pun intended" on your baseball game but the Rockies are going to win (that is if you are going to the brewers game )

We had rain this morning as well - fun times

SOOOOO Bill how did your Rockies do last night????? I can tell ya.......they LOST!Laughing

brick94513 - 2010-04-05 9:23 AM Well I was planning on a road ride this morning, but my wife left my tights in the washer!  Errrrrr....  So, changed the plan and went for a little run.  Pace was pretty pedestrian.  My legs are still sore from running stairs three days ago.

Planning on taking the boys to the movies later, baseball practice, then hopefully to the pool for my first swim of the month.

Your theatre doesn't have a bar in it, does it?

Unfortunately, no it doesn't.  The movie was really good.  My boys loved it.  I enjoyed it as much as them.

I plan on taking my sister to see it in the next week or two  Actually...today is my mom's birthday, maybe I can take her too.  It has been years and years since she saw a movie in the theatres.

Happy birthday to your mom!

Snuck in a ride just before a rainstorm hit this afternoon.  Second outdoor ride of the year!  Now I'm watching the post-rain clouds make a beautiful sunset.  Not a bad day, all-in-all.  I can't stay on BT tonight, so I hope all of you have a lovely evening!  See you tomorrow.

pdbman - 2010-04-07 2:50 PM Question folks.  I'm doing a half mary next weekend and have been working on my training schedule.  I've been tapering my run/bike to give my legs a break before the race.  Should I also cut back on my swim workouts? I'm trying to reschedule the swims I missed last week and under normal conditions I could slip it in on my lunch next Friday but that would be the day before my race. Would that be OK since its not really a leg intensive workout or should I keep that day open?

You going for a PR or are you just running it?

I have never "tapered" before a race but I am not the smartest person out there!

I now have this vision in my head that Bill has a big bumper sticker that says "TAPERING IS FOR WEENIES!"

right next to the bumper sticker that says "I LOVE PIZZA"

Hey where did the Hawaiian Comedian come from???

I died laughing at my desk over this post - thanks guys!!!!

Hahaha, I got a kick out of that mental image too! Tongue out

This is still priceless!  Thanks for the laugh guys!!!

My swimming however is slightly laggind.  I do have masters class today...so I may stay after for a little while to get in a little more volume.

Hmmmm....maybe I'll go for another 5000 yd day....

Got another trainer ride in tonight.  With the snow (gasp!) that we may get this weekend, I feel like I'm never going to get back outside.

Also really stretched good tonight.  My calf is acting back up again.  Hopefully it will feel good tomorrow so I can get my just run in.  I have a planned rest day on Friday and I just want to make it through an entire week on plan.

Another tough masters class.  Didn't stay after to add more volume because I was pooped.  Still managed to get 3300 in the books though.

It's funny though...as my speed and endurance have gone up drastically...it seems that masters class has gotten more difficult.  I suppose I'm not getting as much one on one coaching in the slow lane, and I'm forced to do all the sets with everyone else...hehehe.  I never knew how good I had it when I was slow.

Good morning, A-team!
I (reluctantly) got a trainer ride in this morning.  My 7yo daughter had a nightmare and came in bed with us at 5:20... about 10 min before my alarm was to go off.  So I turned off the alarm and thought, why not just sleep in today?  But then my little wiggly-worm daughter kept kicking me as I'm trying to talk myself out of working out.  But her Pele'-sleep style eventually KICKED me out of bed and I got a 45 min trainer ride in.

My 10yo daughter's first softball game was fun.  They lost 7-2, but my daughter was 2-for-2 and had an RBI.  I'm sure an "official scorer" would have ruled them both errors, but who's counting... she's batting 1.000!  SUPERSTAR!  We both had a great time and it should be a fun season.

Everyone have a great day!!!

I was hoping you wouldn't look.  I was just trying to fire you up a little.

BTW, my wife is mailing the DVD today.  Sorry that it took a little longer than I said.

Am I nuts or I am contemplating throwing some mustache bars on her and riding her in Iowa for the training.  I am going out Saturday for 100+ and was going to take her and see how I do.  What are your feelings?????

I'm really not sure.  You are talking about training, not actually riding the trans-Iowa on the mtb?  I wouldn't think you would want to limit yourself in the actually race.  Training wise though, time in the saddle is time well spent.  You will definately find some new hot sopts from different positioning over time.

I think your best training will come from some off-road 100 milers to get used to the elevation profile.  It's not uncommon to climb 10,000-15,000 ft over 100 miles in these races.

Does that help?
