rh8463 - 2010-10-08 6:16 AM Ok, I'm writing my grocery list for the weekend and need to think of 5 meals for next week. Totally lacking any inspiration - suggestions anyone?

1. Chicken vegetable soup

2. Beef stir fry with rice

3. Lamb chops with a really nice salad

4. Pork chops with potatoes and baked apples

5. Stuffed peppers (capsicum)

6. Spaghetti bolognese with salad or a veggie

7. Tacos!!!!!!!!!!!!

8. Do-it-yourself pizza

9. Baked chicken and sweet potatoes (yams)

10. Tuna or chicken casserole

I was going to say tuna casserole - I am craving it...

Maybe that can be my 5th - you mean like a tuna pasta bake type thing? I need some carbs for next Fri night....

My mom used to make a tuna/cream of mushroom soup/egg noodle type tuna casserole. My sister adds peas for the kids but I love it just the same. My neighbor took bread crumbs and put it on top the last 5 minutes of the baking time. YUM YUM.

Okay, now, I REALLY want tuna cassie. I'd have to make the cream sauce from a roux (do I have flour? I have pancake mix, that'll do), but it's possible.

Chopped up baby corn for the veggie, and tater chips instead of the breadcrumbs, and we're good to go.

They aren't too bad around me, well I haven't had problems on the bike anyway, but the mynah birds like to swoop me when I'm walking and someone at work got their scalp cut by one last week.

I've got one that has just started attacking cyclists only 200 metres up the road from my house.  Thankfully daylight savings has just started so now I go past him in darkness and there is no problems.

I used to take a different route to work using mainly bike paths until last month, then one of the most viscious ones got me on the way to work.  The attack was so bad I preferred to ride down a 3 lane road and compete with buses and trucks over the magpie on the bike path.

I didn't think they were just Australian birds, but never seem to hear of them attacking cyclists on any of these forums so got me wondering

Yeah, they are crazy!!! Sorry they are so troublesome around you.
Do you try the cable ties on your helmet? Lots of people do but Ive no idea if it really deters them. I saw guy riding along, just on a commuter bike, the other day, waving a stick over his head the whole time!

TriAya - 2010-10-07 4:35 PM Stacie, feel free to correct me on any of the following:

- Labs, for being "shorthair" dogs, shed an unbelievable amount. Bags full. You really gotta stay on top of the coat AND undercoat.

- Labs will try to swim or play with any available water source, including the toilet bowl and the water dish. Try to wash them, however, and they get upset.

Yes - I have a golden lab/retrieve mix and my black lab who doesn't have the thick fur sheds more. I vacuum daily and I am not sure how my dogs have hair left with what I vacuum up.

Yes - we keep the lids down and door closed so they aren't in the toilet.  The puppies big thing right now is feet in the water bowl when he drinks.  The other surprise - he hates being in the tub for a bath but loves the tub to play and splash or the shower between mommies legs when she showers. Bath no thanks.  The puppy we lost in March loved the huge rank mud puddle in the spare lot next to ours. The day he found it I gave him 4 baths since he kept going back and getting muddy (he was golden) - finally after that I gave him to Dear hubby and told him to handle it.

Good luck with no dog hair.  We have a room that the dogs can't go into so it is dog hair free for relatives to sleep in when they come.

I just threw all the animals out so I could have a bowl of cereal in peace, never mind the hair. I know it's lurking in there!

Ok - question for you - do they watch you eat and beg. Bo's thing now is to stand with his front paws on my leg and beg for Honey Nut Cheerios from me in the morning. If I don't give in he sits and barks at me with the sad eyes. Not fair.

Oh HELL no. Lisa Labradog does not beg. (She is Perfect Dog. Gross.) But the cats will jump up right INTO the bowl. And this makes Lisa upset, so she tries to herd the cats away, which makes them upset.

I like Cats but I think I just found a reason that I don't have any.

I don't really worry about them generally, the one attack recently was the worse I've had though,  Growing up with them realised early that most accidents happen when you panic and try to avoid them.  Best approach is to tuck the head down and go as fast as you can, once far enough from their nest they leave you alone.

Really hate the looks of the cable ties out of the helmet, I pull out my old orange helment as I find my current red helmet seems to get more attacks.

I remember on holidays once at Merimbula riding down a big hill around 70kms and hour and got attacked, got me by surprise and it was hard to try to keep the bike on course at that speed while worrying about where the magpie went.  But I was out of the attack zone pretty quickly

Speaking as someone who spends way too much time on this forum, I hear about crazy bird attacks frequently.

Emmanem - 2010-10-08 12:17 PM Finished my ride... contemplating getting up for the yoga class at 8 tomorrow and then running/elliptical training after that.  but I suck at that whole get out of bed when the alarm goes off thing so we'll see how that goes.  I missed yoga Monday and Friday due to meetings and I really love the class so I'm hoping I'll have enough motivation to get out of bed for it tomorrow.

Have you tried moving the alarm clock to the other side of the room, so you have to get out of bed to turn it off?

I used to do this when I was single...

"real" Pop Tarts in my opinion are:

1. Kellogg's
2. Frosted
3. toasted
4. served with milk.

pdbman - 2010-10-08 6:12 AM Good afternoon Ghoulie Crushers! I'm a little late to the party today. I ate something that didn't agree with me. I'm just happy it didn't hit in middle of my run last night. Doing much better now. I'm even considering putting today's workout back on the schedule for this evening. If you have to get sick, a little quickie illness is the only way to go.

Hope you are feeling better by now pdbman.
