Elite 3495 SE | Subject: RE: Not phat? Phatknot SLAYER - CLOSED Looks like some of you are doing what Peter asked. Keep up the great work. Breakthroughs are by products of solid training. I killed my hip flexors with 800 kick in my warm up (4x200) yesterday. bought these finis zoomers at all3sports.com and they are really helping with ankle flexibility and hip strength i think. keep on trying to build the swim slowly but surely. but my $ comes from the big bike and improving pace on my long runs. |

Extreme Veteran 849 San Diego | Subject: RE: Not phat? Phatknot SLAYER - CLOSED Phew! Saved us from page 2. I had a pretty big day yesterday. In addition to working a full day, I did a 25/4 brick and then swam 4000 yards. That was my longest swim ever! Felt pretty good the entire time. Big confidence boost. Needed that. The plan for today was an early morning swim followed by a 6 mile run. One of my dogs woke me up at about 3 am with the Big D...on the carpet. Not cool. After that, I had to take him out every 30-45 minutes. Didn't sleep after 3, so I skipped my swim. Went to the lab for a little bit, but now I'm back on doggie D duty/doody. Plus, my friend has a wicked illness, but was supposed to bake 6 cakes cakes tonight. Guess who's baking cakes! Will hit the drainer later. Will S/R tomorrow, S/B/R on Friday, B/R on Saturday and OWS/R/maybe B on Sunday. I'm feeling very motivated about training. I've taken ice baths after marathons. I think I'd rather be sore than torture myself that way. I do drink chocolate milk after every bike and run, though, and I think that helps my recovery. Fun news in my world: my mom has decided (at a young 51) to do her first tri this fall. I'm heading up to Washington to help her pick out a bike soon and I sent her some training programs. She's really excited and says that after she does her first, my sister is next. I did a sprint in Tahoe last year and my mom came and just had a blast. Can't wait to tri with my mom and sister. Novel over. |

Master 2094 | Subject: RE: Not phat? Phatknot SLAYER - CLOSED I logged about 24 hours of skiing over the last 4 days. The snow has been incredible. I tried to run last night after skiing but it was a complete fail. I don't know if it's the thin air or the beating I took on the slopes but just couldn't make is happen. I'm flying back today so I will get back to training on Fri. I plan to start with a 6 mile recovery run Fri then long bike Sat and long run Sun. Edited by pschriver 2011-03-10 8:44 AM |

Elite 3495 SE | Subject: RE: Not phat? Phatknot SLAYER - CLOSED speaking of complete fails, I just had one. I may have to miss a workout here and there due to work, but its rare I completely mess up during one. I was on the treadmill for an 8 mile tempo and on the first of four descends in pace, my lower left hammy told me "no way Jose'" and i gutted out another 1.5 mi on slower pace. Only ended up with 4 of 8 miles. Then I showered, went upstairs, rubbed in some of that liquid anti-imflammatory (voltaren) and took my lame self to work. Hopefully its only a minor set back and SHanks will adjust training for me. My wife says if it was torn I'd be writhing around on the floor and its not that bad. |

Extreme Veteran 849 San Diego | Subject: RE: Not phat? Phatknot SLAYER - CLOSED Back on the horse tomorrow, Harv. Peter: welcome back! Sounds like you had a fun trip. My bike ride was a fail today. It was so windy that it took me 20 minutes to go 4 miles. So, I turned around so I wouldn't blow into the river and then the wind blasted me back and it only took me 10 minutes to return (24 mph). Swam 1800 yards, then did the mini bike, then ran 6.2 miles. Feel good. Managed to finish before 9 so I could start working. I'm getting pretty good at this whole life/training/work balance thing, though I'm not sure what I would do if I had a different job. I have lots of flexibility in mine and that's a necessity...one of the reasons I decided to get a PhD was so that I wouldn't have to work 9-5. Eating like a pig and enjoying it. |

Master 1681 Rural Ontario | Subject: RE: Not phat? Phatknot SLAYER - CLOSED Check in: I've slipped on following my IMC trainingh plan these past few weeks. My swim and run are not far off but I only got 3 of the planned 10 hrs. in the saddle. So this weekend I'm gonna make up for it a bit - I'm going to lay down a big absorbent towel under the trainer, pop in some long movie series (LOTR? Star Wars? Godfather?) and start pedalling. I'll let you know how much i've made up. |

First one has been removed. Second one seems pretty high. I bought the KK for $237 from Sports Authority online. I know you haven't had good luck with online retailers. |

Extreme Veteran 849 San Diego | Subject: RE: Not phat? Phatknot SLAYER - CLOSED Rode 42 miles today. I wanted to do more, but I ran out of daylight. Got a late start because of work crap (but I received an invitation to interview for a seriously badazz postdoc less than 24 hours after I sent off my CV and cover letter. Seriously awesome). Tomorrow I have an OWS (Brrrrr!) and either a run or a bike ride. Depends on the weather. Now I'm eating a huge plate of spaghetti with meat sauce and a loaf of garlic bread. Yum! |

I had a long day at work but managed to get in a 55 min spin followed by a 10 min run. Sounds kinda wimpy compared to your long course training but I am hopefully working on pacing. I imported the intermediate sprint distance plan and will follow it up to the race then get back on my long course plan |

Weather was awesome here (which is why I ask Phatnot why the trainer). And I felt pretty strong. Sunday's workout was an 8 mile run at what is supposed to be my race pace for half mary this coming weekend. Fail! Big Time! |

I'm sure his depressed state lasted about as long as it took him to write the post. Then he's back in the saddle.
Rough night at work but got in a trainer ride and run brick. Trying to sneak out of work for a swim. Not looking good. |
