Hey fellow mentees,

Sorry haven't checked in recently, been a little busy with life training, etc.

Did my 2011 first group rise tonight.  Bit of fun, as always.  Felt fast at times & very slow at others...

Sorry for being MIA.. Congrats to all that raced..Was at the lake with family and no computer this weekend. got some training in..I use hammer products as well and have always been fine..Just have to experiment and see what works for you, however please don't try anything new for race...see what works in training and use that for your races.. Excellent job on our members setting some PR's..Way to go...

Did my first ever official 5 k run today in a glacier-like 33:47.

Had no idea how long it would take me. I'da been elated with sub 30 min but am more than happy at sub 35. Had to test out the back - it survived despite complaining.

Sorry to hear about the death an your event. That really puts things in perspective. We have to be grateful for the time we get here.

Congrats on your first 5K!  Nice job!

I just got back from my sprint tri - went really well.  Don't have the exact times as I always forget to hit the stupid watch buttons.  I finished around 1:20 (PR) and my 5k time was under 27 minutes, which was faster than my stand alone 5k last weekend. The swim was COLD and chaotic and I had a mild panic attack within a few minutes of the start. Luckily I was able to pull it together and finish.  I will post my RR as soon as I get the race results.

On a sadder note - a man in the heat in front of me was pulled out of the water dead. Initial guesses was that he had a heart attack. They performed CPR on him (unfortunately my kids got to see this), but to no avail. Very tragic.

Awesome job on the tri!  Sorry about the guy that didn't make it - that had to have been really tough to see.

Hi there, sounds like many of you had a good weekend.

Robin - glad you did so well on the sprint, sorry to hear about the tragedy.  That's rough.

Julie - nice bike ride, that's a lot of miles for one ride.  Remind me, are you planning on a century ride?

Marvin - nice work on your 5K - your glacier pace is like flying to me!

Ice - nice work on the brick, I did my first ever this Sunday.

I rode the IronGirl route for the first time and didn't collapse.  Also, didn't fall off once!  I'm finally getting the hang of the clipping in and out.  I generally stay clipped out if I know I'm coming up to an area that requires a lot of stop and go activity.

The run portion of the brick was mostly walking, but I'm glad I did it just to prove that I could keep going after the bike.  It actually felt pretty good to stretch after being on the bike.

My knee is achy though.  I'm icing it as we speak.

My first 10k was yesterday... and I can't wait to do another one!!  My legs (and some of my ABS) are a little sore today.  Feels great.  I wanted to do under 1:30 and I assumed I would be last.

at the 3 mile mark I was at 33:26

at 4 - I was 46:46 (I felt pretty good at that point, hearing that time)

at 5 - the guy didn't tell me my time.  he was sitting in his truck trying to avoid the rain (wimp)

From #5 to #6 - it was ALL UP HILL.  It was rough.  I have practiced hills... but I have not done a WHOLE mile up hill.

I finished with a time of 1:18:40 and I was THIRD to last!  WHOO HOO!!  I felt so good about my time.  I really can't wait to do another.  It's funny how the more I do, the shorter and shorter one mile seems.

Sherri great job on the 10k!!!!

Viv yes I am doing a Century on the 12th of June. The training is certianly helping me to be come a better biker which will a huge benefit in my 70.3.

I did the Bolder Boulder yesterday a huge 10k here. 55,000 people give or take a few. Although I was mostly just using it as a training ru I of course hoped for a PR. It's the 2nd year for doing this race and it's a ton of fun as well as a difficult course. I was thrilled with my time of 1:11 which was not only a PR on this course but a 10k PR.

Julie, that is great! Congrats.  One of these years I will have to do that race.  All the riding you are doing is going to help a ton during Boulder 70.3.   I have only done one outside ride this season (the one we  did together) so I need to get at it. I am going to Cherry Creek tomorrow (today) to test out my new peddles and cleats  on the road.  I also want to  ride the course of the tri that I might be doing Friday night. Need to get the confidence up or see if I need to use my road bike which has a better cassette for climbing and has my mb peddles on it.

Great job Vivian giving both the brick a try and getting out to ride the course!  Nothing builds confidence more than knowing the course and knowing you can complete the course with something left for the run!

On vacation, having a great series of workouts.  Long rides, short intense rides, long and short swims, running.  All good.  Today, a special treat - riding with my coach for a couple of hours, then a run of about 90 minutes.   Short swim tonight to test the wet suit.  Race a sprint on Saturday.  All good.

I did my first OWS of the season this morning!  Fortunately the lake has warmed up nicely with this heat wave we are currently experiencing.  It was still in the 80's this morning when I started my run before heading to the lake!

With all the early season PR's our group is setting it will be a great season to be a part of this group!  Awesome job gang!!
